5Then Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Gatherקִבְצ֥וּkiv.TzuH6908אֶת־'et-H853allכָּל־kol-H3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478to Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֑תָהha.mitz.Pa.tahH4709,and I will prayוְאֶתְפַּלֵּ֥לve.'et.pa.LelH6419toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068on your behalfבַּעַדְכֶ֖םba.'ad.KhemH1157.”

6When they had gatheredוַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּvai.yi.ka.ve.TzuH6908at Mizpahהַ֠מִּצְפָּתָהHa.mitz.pa.tahH4709,they drewוַיִּֽשְׁאֲבוּ־vai.yish.'a.vu-H7579waterמַ֜יִםMa.yimH4325and poured it outוַֽיִּשְׁפְּכ֣וּ׀vai.yish.pe.KhuH8210beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068.On thatהַה֔וּאha.Hu'H1931dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117they fastedוַיָּצ֙וּמוּ֙vai.ya.Tzu.muH6684,and thereשָׁ֔םShamH8033they confessedוַיֹּ֣אמְרוּvai.Yo.me.ruH559, “We have sinnedחָטָ֖אנוּcha.Ta.nuH2398against the LORDלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.”And Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֛לshe.mu.'ElH8050אֶת־'et-H853judgedוַיִּשְׁפֹּ֧טvai.yish.PotH8199the Israelitesבְּנֵ֥י יִשְׂרָאֵ֖לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478at Mizpahבַּמִּצְפָּֽה׃ba.mitz.PahH4709.

7When the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּ֗יםfe.lish.TimH6430heardוַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּvai.yish.me.'UH8085thatכִּֽי־ki-H3588the Israelitesבְנֵֽי־ יִשְׂרָאֵל֙ve.nei- Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478had gatheredהִתְקַבְּצ֤וּhit.ka.be.TzuH6908at Mizpahהַמִּצְפָּ֔תָהha.mitz.Pa.tahH4709,theirפְלִשְׁתִּ֖יםfe.lish.TimH6430rulersסַרְנֵֽי־sar.nei-H5633marched upוַיַּעֲל֥וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927towardאֶל־'el-H413Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478.And when the Israelitesבְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Nei Yis.ra.'ElH1121 H3478learned of thisוַֽיִּשְׁמְעוּ֙vai.yish.me.'UH8085,they fearedוַיִּֽרְא֖וּ מִפְּנֵ֥יvai.yir.'U mi.pe.NeiH3372 H6440the Philistinesפְלִשְׁתִּֽים׃fe.lish.TimH6430

9Then Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֗לshe.mu.'ElH8050tookוַיִּקַּ֣חvai.yi.KachH3947aאֶחָ֔ד'e.ChadH259sucklingחָלָב֙cha.LavH2461lambטְלֵ֤הte.LehH2924and offered itוַיַּעֲלֵ֧הוּvai.ya.'a.le.huH5927as a wholeכָּלִ֖ילka.LilH3632burnt offeringעוֹלָ֛הo.LahH5930to the LORDלַֽיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068.Heשְׁמוּאֵ֤לshe.mu.'ElH8050cried outוַיִּזְעַ֨קvai.yiz.'AkH2199toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068on behalf ofבְּעַ֣דbe.'AdH1157Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068answered himוַֽיַּעֲנֵ֖הוּvai.ya.'a.Ne.huH6030.

10As the Philistinesוּפְלִשְׁתִּ֣יםu.fe.lish.TimH6430drew nearנִגְּשׁ֔וּni.ge.ShuH5066to fightלַמִּלְחָמָ֖הla.mil.cha.MahH4421against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,Samuelשְׁמוּאֵל֙she.mu.'ElH8050wasוַיְהִ֤יvay.HiH1961offering upמַעֲלֶ֣הma.'a.LehH5927the burnt offeringהָעוֹלָ֔הha.'o.LahH5930.But thatהַה֤וּאha.Hu'H1931dayבַּיּ֨וֹםbai.YomH3117the LORDיְהוָ֣ה׀Yah.wehH3068thunderedוַיַּרְעֵ֣םvai.yar.'EmH7481loudlyבְּקוֹל־ גָּ֠דוֹלbe.kol- Ga.dolH6963 H1419againstעַל־'al-H5921the Philistinesפְּלִשְׁתִּים֙pe.lish.TimH6430and threw them into such confusionוַיְהֻמֵּ֔םvay.hu.MemH2000that they fledוַיִּנָּגְפ֖וּvai.yi.na.ge.FuH5062beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.
