Joshua 14
Revised Version 1895
1And theseH428 are the inheritances whichH834 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 tookH853 in the landH776 of CanaanH3667, whichH834 EleazarH499 the priestH3548, and JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, and the headsH7218 of the fathers’H1 houses of the tribesH4294 of the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478, distributedH5157 unto them, 2by the lotH1486 of their inheritanceH5159, as the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 by the handH3027 of MosesH4872, for the nineH8672 tribesH4294, and for the halfH2677 tribeH4294. 3For MosesH4872 had givenH5414 the inheritanceH5159 of the twoH8147 tribesH4294 and the halfH2677 tribeH4294 beyondH5676 JordanH3383: but unto the LevitesH3881 he gaveH5414 noneH3808 inheritanceH5159 among them. 4For the childrenH1121 of JosephH3130 were twoH8147 tribesH4294, ManassehH4519 and EphraimH669: and they gaveH5414 noH3808 portionH2506 unto the LevitesH3881 in the landH776, save citiesH5892 to dwellH3427 in, with the suburbs thereof for their cattleH4735 and for their substance. 5As the LORDH3068 commandedH6680 MosesH4872, soH3651 the childrenH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213, and they dividedH2505 the landH776. 6Then the childrenH1121 of JudahH3063 drewH5066 nigh unto JoshuaH3091 in GilgalH1537: and CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 the KenizziteH7074 saidH559 unto him, Thou knowest the thingH1697 that the LORDH3068 spake unto MosesH4872 the manH376 of GodH430 concerning meH413 and concerning thee in Kadesh-barneaH6947. 7FortyH705 yearsH8141 oldH1121 was I when MosesH4872 the servantH5650 of the LORDH3068 sentH7971 meH7971 from Kadesh-barneaH6947 to spyH7270 outH7971 the landH776; and I broughtH7725 him wordH1697 againH7725 as it was in mineH5973 heartH3824. 8Nevertheless my brethrenH251 that wentH5927 upH5927 with meH310 madeH834 the heartH3820 of the peopleH5971 meltH4529: but I wholly followedH310 the LORDH3068 my GodH430. 9And MosesH4872 sware on that dayH3117, sayingH559, SurelyH3588 the landH776 whereon thy footH7272 hath troddenH1869 shall be an inheritanceH5159 to thee and to thy childrenH1121 for everH5769, becauseH3588 thou hast wholly followedH310 the LORDH3068 my GodH430. 10And nowH6258, beholdH2009, the LORDH3068 hath kept meH413 aliveH2421, as he spake, theseH2088 fortyH705 and fiveH2568 yearsH8141, from the time that the LORDH3068 spake this wordH1697 unto MosesH4872, whileH3117 IsraelH3478 walkedH1980 in the wildernessH4057: and nowH6258, loH2009, I am this dayH3117 fourscore and fiveH2568 yearsH8141 oldH1121. 11As yet I am as strongH2389 this dayH3117 as I was in the dayH3117 that MosesH4872 sentH7971 meH7971: as my strengthH3581 was then, evenH5750 soH7971 is my strengthH3581 nowH6258, for warH4421 and to goH3318 outH3318 and to comeH935 in. 12NowH6258 therefore giveH5414 meH5414 this mountainH2022, whereof the LORDH3068 spake in that dayH3117; for thou heardest in that dayH3117 howH834 the AnakimH6062 were there, and citiesH5892 greatH1419 and fenced: it may be that the LORDH3068 will be with meH5414, and I shall driveH3423 them outH3423, as the LORDH3068 spake. 13And JoshuaH3091 blessedH1288 him; and he gaveH5414 HebronH2275 unto CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 for an inheritanceH5159. 14Therefore HebronH2275 becameH1961 the inheritanceH5159 of CalebH3612 the sonH1121 of JephunnehH3312 the KenizziteH7074, unto this dayH3117; becauseH5921 that he wholly followedH310 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478. 15NowH120 the nameH8034 of HebronH2275 beforetime was Kirjath-arba; whichH1931 Arba was the greatestH1419 manH120 among the AnakimH6062. And the landH776 had restH8252 from warH4421.
