John 8:37-44
37I knowG3609 that you are 1Abraham’sG11 descendantsG4690; yetG235 2you are seekingG2212 to killG615 Me, becauseG3754 My wordG3056 3hasG5562 noG3756 placeG5562 in you. 38I speakG2980 of the things whichG3739 I have seenG3708 4with My FatherG3962; thereforeG3767 you alsoG2532 doG4160 the things whichG3739 you heardG191 from 5your fatherG3962.”
39They answeredG611 and saidG3004 to Him, “AbrahamG11 is 6our fatherG3962.” JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “7IfG1487 you are Abraham’sG11 childrenG5043, doG4160 the deedsG2041 of AbrahamG11. 40But as it is, 8you are seekingG2212 to killG615 Me, a ManG444 whoG3739 has 9toldG2980 you the truthG225, whichG3739 I heardG191 from GodG2316; thisG3778 AbrahamG11 did not doG4160. 41You are doingG4160 the deedsG2041 of 10your fatherG3962.” They saidG3004 to Him, “We were not bornG1080 as a resultG1537 of sexualG4202 immoralityG4202; 11we haveG2192 oneG1520 FatherG3962: GodG2316.” 42JesusG2424 saidG3004 to them, “IfG1487 GodG2316 were your FatherG3962, 12you would loveG25 Me, 13for I cameG1831 forthG1831 from GodG2316 and amG2240 hereG2240; for I have 14not evenG3761 comeG2064 15on My ownG1683, but 1617He sentG649 Me. 43WhyG1223G5101 do you not understandG1097 1819whatG2981 I am sayingG2981? It is becauseG3754 you cannotG1410G3756 20listenG191 to My wordG3056. 4421You are of 22your fatherG3962 the devilG1228, and 23you wantG2309 to doG4160 the desiresG1939 of your fatherG3962. 24He was a murdererG443 from the beginningG746, and does not standG4739 in the truthG225 becauseG3754 25there is noG3756 truthG225 in him. WheneverG3752 he tellsG2980 26a lieG5579, he 27speaksG2980 from his ownG2398 nature, becauseG3754 he is a liarG5583 and the fatherG3962 of 28liesG846.
