5They saidוַיֹּאמְר֗וּvai.yo.me.RuH559, “Ifאִם־'im-H518we have foundמָצָ֤אנוּma.Tza.nuH4672favorחֵן֙chenH2580in your sightבְּעֵינֶ֔יךָbe.'ei.Nei.khaH5869,let thisH2088landהָאָ֧רֶץha.'A.retzH776be givenיֻתַּ֞ןyu.TanH5414to your servantsלַעֲבָדֶ֖יךָla.'a.va.Dei.khaH5650as a possessionלַאֲחֻזָּ֑הla.'a.chu.ZahH272;do not takeH5674us acrossH5674the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃hai.yar.DenH3383.”

6But Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the sonsלִבְנֵי־liv.nei-H1121of Gadגָ֖דgadH1410and to the sonsוְלִבְנֵ֣יve.liv.NeiH1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵ֑ןre.'u.VenH7205, “Shall your brothersהַאַֽחֵיכֶ֗םha.'a.chei.KhemH251goיָבֹ֙אוּ֙ya.Vo.'uH935to warלַמִּלְחָמָ֔הla.mil.cha.MahH4421while you yourselvesH864sitתֵּ֥שְׁבוּTe.she.vuH3427hereפֹֽה׃FohH6311?

9For when they wentוַֽיַּעֲל֞וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927up to thevalleyנַ֣חַלNa.chalH5158of Eshcolאֶשְׁכּ֗וֹל'esh.KolH812and sawוַיִּרְאוּ֙vai.yir.'UH7200the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776, theydiscouragedוַיָּנִ֕יאוּ לֵ֖בvai.ya.Ni.'u levH5106 H3820the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478so that they did not goבֹא֙vo'H935into the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776whichאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068had givenנָתַ֥ןna.TanH5414them.

10Sothe Lord’sיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068angerאַ֥ף'afH639burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734in that dayבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117,and He sworeוַיִּשָּׁבַ֖עvai.yi.sha.Va'H7650,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

13So the Lord’sיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068angerאַ֤ף'afH639burnedוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and He made them wanderוַיְנִעֵם֙vay.ni.'EmH5128in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057fortyאַרְבָּעִ֖ים'ar.ba.'ImH705yearsשָׁנָ֑הsha.NahH8141,untilעַד־'ad-H5704the entireכָּל־kol-H3605generationהַדּ֔וֹרha.DorH1755of those who had doneהָעֹשֶׂ֥הha.'o.SehH6213evilהָרַ֖עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068was destroyedתֹּם֙tomH8552.

14Now beholdוְהִנֵּ֣הve.hi.NehH2009,you have risenקַמְתֶּ֗םkam.TemH6965up in your fathers’אֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם'a.Vo.tei.KhemH1placeתַּ֚חַתTa.chatH8478,a broodתַּרְבּ֖וּתtar.ButH8635of sinfulחַטָּאִ֑יםcha.ta.'ImH2400menH376,to addלִסְפּ֣וֹתlis.PotH5595stillH5750moreH5750to the burningחֲר֥וֹןcha.RonH2740angerאַף־'af-H639of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068againstאֶל־'el-H413Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

15For if youturnתְשׁוּבֻן֙te.shu.VunH7725awayH7725from followingמֵֽאַחֲרָ֔יוme.'a.cha.RavH310Him, He will onceH3254 H5750moreH3254 H5750abandonלְהַנִּיח֖וֹle.ha.ni.ChoH5117them in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֑רba.mid.BarH4057,and you will destroyוְשִֽׁחַתֶּ֖םve.shi.cha.TemH7843allלְכָל־le.kholH3605theseהַזֶּֽה׃ סha.ZehH2088peopleהָעָ֥םha.'AmH5971.”

17but we ourselvesוַאֲנַ֜חְנוּva.'a.Nach.nuH587will be armedנֵחָלֵ֣ץne.cha.LetzH2502readyחֻשִׁ֗יםchu.ShimH2363to gobeforeלִפְנֵי֙lif.NeiH6440the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,untilעַ֛ד אֲשֶׁ֥ר אִם־'ad 'a.Sher 'im-H5704 H834 H518we have broughtהֲבִֽיאֹנֻ֖םha.vi.'o.NumH935them to their placeמְקוֹמָ֑םme.ko.MamH4725,while our littleטַפֵּ֙נוּ֙ta.Pe.nuH2945onesH2945liveוְיָשַׁ֤בve.ya.ShavH3427in the fortifiedהַמִּבְצָ֔רha.miv.TzarH4013citiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892becauseמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH4480 H6440of the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֥יyo.she.VeiH3427of the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

18We will not returnנָשׁ֖וּבna.ShuvH7725to our homesבָּתֵּ֑ינוּba.Tei.nuH1004untilעַ֗ד'AdH5704everyH376oneH376of the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478has possessedהִתְנַחֵל֙hit.na.ChelH5157his inheritanceנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃na.cha.la.ToH5159.

19For we will not haveH5157an inheritanceH5157with them on the otherמֵעֵ֥בֶרme.'E.verH5676sideמֵעֵ֥בֶרme.'E.verH5676of the Jordanלַיַּרְדֵּ֖ןlai.yar.DenH3383and beyondוָהָ֑לְאָהva.Hal.'ahH1973,becauseH3588our inheritanceנַחֲלָתֵ֙נוּ֙na.cha.la.Te.nuH5159has fallenבָ֤אָהVa.'ahH935to uson this sideH5676of the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֖ןhai.yar.DenH3383toward the eastמִזְרָֽחָה׃ פmiz.Ra.chahH4217.”

20So Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Ifאִֽם־'im-H518you will doתַּעֲשׂ֖וּןta.'a.SunH6213thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088,ifאִם־'im-H518you will armתֵּחָֽלְצ֛וּte.Chal.TzuH2502yourselves beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068for the warלַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃la.mil.cha.MahH4421,

21and allכָּל־kol-H3605of you armedחָל֛וּץcha.LutzH2502men crossH5674overH5674the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֖ןhai.yar.DenH3383beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068untilעַ֧ד'adH5704He has drivenהוֹרִישׁ֛וֹho.ri.ShoH3423His enemiesH340out from beforeמִפָּנָֽיו׃mi.pa.NavH6440Him,

22and the landהָאָ֜רֶץha.'A.retzH776is subduedוְנִכְבְּשָׁ֨הve.nikh.be.ShahH3533beforeלִפְנֵ֤יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068,then afterwardוְאַחַ֣רve.'a.CharH310you shall returnתָּשֻׁ֔בוּta.Shu.vuH7725and be freeH5355of obligationH5355towardH4480the Lordמֵיְהוָ֖הme.Yah.wehH3068and towardH4480Israelוּמִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֑לu.mi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and thisH2088landהָאָ֨רֶץha.'A.retzH776shall be yours for a possessionלַאֲחֻזָּ֖הla.'a.chu.ZahH272beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

23But ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518you will not doתַעֲשׂוּן֙ta.'a.SunH6213soכֵּ֔ןKenH3651,beholdהִנֵּ֥הhi.NehH2009,you have sinnedחֲטָאתֶ֖םcha.ta.TemH2398against the Lordלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068,and be sureוּדְעוּ֙u.de.'UH3045your sinחַטַּאתְכֶ֔םcha.tat.KhemH2403will findתִּמְצָ֖אtim.Tza'H4672you out.

24Buildבְּנֽוּ־be.nu-H1129yourselves citiesעָרִים֙'a.RimH5892for your littleלְטַפְּכֶ֔םle.ta.pe.KhemH2945onesH2945,and sheepfoldsוּגְדֵרֹ֖תu.ge.de.RotH1448for your sheepלְצֹנַאֲכֶ֑םle.tzo.na.'a.KhemH6792, anddoתַּעֲשֽׂוּ׃ta.'a.SuH6213what you have promisedוְהַיֹּצֵ֥א מִפִּיכֶ֖םve.hai.yo.Tze' mi.pi.KhemH3318 H4480 H6310.”

25The sonsבְּנֵי־be.nei-H1121of Gadגָד֙gadH1410and the sonsוּבְנֵ֣יu.ve.NeiH1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵ֔ןre.'u.VenH7205spokeוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Your servantsעֲבָדֶ֣יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650will doיַעֲשׂ֔וּya.'a.SuH6213justH3512as my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113commandsמְצַוֶּֽה׃me.tza.VehH6680.

26Our littleטַפֵּ֣נוּta.Pe.nuH2945onesH2945,our wivesנָשֵׁ֔ינוּna.Shei.nuH802,our livestockמִקְנֵ֖נוּmik.Ne.nuH4735and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605our cattleבְּהֶמְתֵּ֑נוּbe.hem.Te.nuH929shallremainיִֽהְיוּ־yih.yu-H1961thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033in the citiesבְּעָרֵ֥יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Gileadהַגִּלְעָֽד׃ha.gil.'AdH1568;

27while your servantsוַעֲבָדֶ֨יךָva.'a.va.Dei.khaH5650,everyoneכָּל־kol-H3605who is armedחֲל֥וּץcha.LutzH2502for warצָבָ֛אtza.Va'H6635, willcrossH5674overH5674in the presenceלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068to battleלַמִּלְחָמָ֑הla.mil.cha.MahH4421,justH3512as my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113saysדֹּבֵֽר׃do.VerH1696.”

28So Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872gaveH6680commandוַיְצַ֤וvay.TzavH6680concerning them to Eleazarאֶלְעָזָ֣ר'el.'a.ZarH499the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548,and to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091the sonבִּן־bin-H1121of Nunנ֑וּןNunH5126,and to the headsרָאשֵׁ֛יra.SheiH7218of the fathers’אֲב֥וֹת'a.VotH1householdsof the tribesהַמַּטּ֖וֹתha.ma.TotH4294of the sonsלִבְנֵ֥יliv.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

29Mosesמֹשֶׁ֜הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Ifאִם־'im-H518the sonsבְנֵי־ve.nei-H1121of Gadגָ֣דgadH1410and the sonsוּבְנֵי־u.ve.nei-H1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵ֣ן׀re.'u.VenH7205,everyoneכָּל־kol-H3605who is armedחָל֤וּץcha.LutzH2502for battleלַמִּלְחָמָה֙la.mil.cha.MahH4421,will crossH5674with you overH5674the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֞ןhai.yar.DenH3383in the presenceלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776is subduedוְנִכְבְּשָׁ֥הve.nikh.be.ShahH3533beforeלִפְנֵיכֶ֑םlif.nei.KhemH6440you, then you shall giveוּנְתַתֶּ֥םu.ne.ta.TemH5414them the landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Gileadהַגִּלְעָ֖דha.gil.'AdH1568for a possessionלַאֲחֻזָּֽה׃la.'a.chu.ZahH272;

30but ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518they will not crossH5674overH5674with you armedחֲלוּצִ֖יםcha.lu.TzimH2502,they shall haveH270possessionsוְנֹֽאחֲז֥וּve.no.cha.ZuH270amongבְתֹכְכֶ֖םve.to.khe.KhemH8432you in the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Canaanכְּנָֽעַן׃ke.Na.'anH3667.”

31The sonsבְנֵי־ve.nei-H1121of Gadגָ֛דgadH1410and the sonsוּבְנֵ֥יu.ve.NeiH1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵ֖ןre.'u.VenH7205answeredוַיַּֽעֲנ֧וּvai.ya.'a.NuH6030,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “As the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068has saidדִּבֶּ֧רdi.BerH1696to your servantsעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650,soכֵּ֥ןkenH3651we will doנַעֲשֶֽׂה׃na.'a.SehH6213.

32We ourselvesנַ֣חְנוּNach.nuH5168will crossH5674overH5674armedחֲלוּצִ֛יםcha.lu.TzimH2502in the presenceלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068into the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Canaanכְּנָ֑עַןke.Na.'anH3667,and the possessionאֲחֻזַּ֣ת'a.chu.ZatH272of our inheritanceנַחֲלָתֵ֔נוּna.cha.la.Te.nuH5159shall remainwith us acrossמֵעֵ֖בֶרme.'E.verH4480 H5676the Jordanלַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃lai.yar.DenH3383.”
