7And wherefore discourage yeתְנִיא֔וּןte.nu.'unH5106the heartלֵ֖בlevH3820of the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478from going overמֵֽעֲבֹר֙me.'a.VorH5674into the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776which the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068hath givenנָתַ֥ןna.TanH5414them?

8Thus didעָשׂ֖וּ'a.SuH6213your fathersאֲבֹתֵיכֶ֑ם'a.vo.tei.KhemH1,when I sentבְּשָׁלְחִ֥יbe.sha.le.ChiH7971them from Kadesh–barneaH6947to seeלִרְא֥וֹתlir.'otH7200the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

9For when they went upוַֽיַּעֲל֞וּvai.ya.'a.LuH5927unto the valleyנַ֣חַלNa.chalH5158of Eshcolאֶשְׁכּ֗וֹל'esh.KolH812,and sawוַיִּרְאוּ֙vai.yir.'UH7200the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776,they discouragedוַיָּנִ֕יאוּvai.ya.Ni.'uH5106the heartלֵ֖בlevH3820of the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,that they should not goבֹא֙vo'H935into the landהָאָ֔רֶץha.'A.retzH776which the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068had givenנָתַ֥ןna.TanH5414them.

10And the Lord’sיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068angerאַ֥ף'afH639was kindledוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734the same timeבַּיּ֣וֹםbai.YomH3117,and he swareוַיִּשָּׁבַ֖עvai.yi.sha.Va'H7650,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

13And the Lord’sיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068angerאַ֤ף'afH639was kindledוַיִּֽחַר־vai.yi.char-H2734against Israelבְּיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לbe.Yis.ra.'ElH3478,and he made them wanderוַיְנִעֵם֙vay.ni.'EmH5128in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֔רba.mid.BarH4057fortyאַרְבָּעִ֖ים'ar.ba.'ImH705yearsשָׁנָ֑הsha.NahH8141,until all the generationהַדּ֔וֹרha.DorH1755,that had doneהָעֹשֶׂ֥הha.'o.SehH6213evilהָרַ֖עha.Ra'H7451in the sightבְּעֵינֵ֥יbe.'ei.NeiH5869of the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068,was consumedתֹּם֙tomH8552.

14And, behold, ye are risen upקַמְתֶּ֗םkam.TemH6965in your fathers’אֲבֹ֣תֵיכֶ֔ם'a.Vo.tei.KhemH1stead, an increaseתַּרְבּ֖וּתtar.ButH8635of sinfulחַטָּאִ֑יםcha.ta.'ImH2400menאֲנָשִׁ֣ים'a.na.ShimH582,to augmentלִסְפּ֣וֹתlis.PotH5595yet the fierceחֲר֥וֹןcha.RonH2740angerאַף־'af-H639of the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068toward Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

15For if ye turn awayתְשׁוּבֻן֙te.shu.VunH7725from afterמֵֽאַחֲרָ֔יוme.'a.cha.RavH310him, he will yet againוְיָסַ֣ףve.ya.SafH3254leaveH3240them in the wildernessבַּמִּדְבָּ֑רba.mid.BarH4057;and ye shall destroyוְשִֽׁחַתֶּ֖םve.shi.cha.TemH7843all this peopleהָעָ֥םha.'AmH5971.

16And they came nearוַיִּגְּשׁ֤וּvai.yi.ge.ShuH5066unto him, and saidוַ֣יֹּאמְר֔וּvai.yo.me.RuH559,We will buildנִבְנֶ֥הniv.NehH1129sheepfoldsגִּדְרֹ֥ת צֹ֛אןgid.Rot tzonH6629 H1448here for our cattleלְמִקְנֵ֖נוּle.mik.Ne.nuH4735,and citiesוְעָרִ֖יםve.'a.RimH5892for our little onesלְטַפֵּֽנוּ׃le.ta.Pe.nuH2945:

17But we ourselvesוַאֲנַ֜חְנוּva.'a.Nach.nuH587will go readyחֻשִׁ֗יםchu.ShimH2363armedנֵחָלֵ֣ץne.cha.LetzH2502beforeלִפְנֵי֙lif.NeiH6440the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,until we have broughtהֲבִֽיאֹנֻ֖םha.vi.'o.NumH935them unto their placeמְקוֹמָ֑םme.ko.MamH4725:and our little onesטַפֵּ֙נוּ֙ta.Pe.nuH2945shall dwellוְיָשַׁ֤בve.ya.ShavH3427in the fencedהַמִּבְצָ֔רha.miv.TzarH4013citiesבְּעָרֵ֣יbe.'a.ReiH5892becauseמִפְּנֵ֖יmi.pe.NeiH6440of the inhabitantsיֹשְׁבֵ֥יyo.she.VeiH3427of the landהָאָֽרֶץ׃ha.'A.retzH776.

18We will not returnנָשׁ֖וּבna.ShuvH7725unto our housesבָּתֵּ֑ינוּba.Tei.nuH1004,until the childrenבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478have inheritedהִתְנַחֵל֙hit.na.ChelH5157every manאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376his inheritanceנַחֲלָתֽוֹ׃na.cha.la.ToH5159.

19For we will not inheritנִנְחַל֙nin.ChalH5157with them on yonder sideמֵעֵ֥בֶרme.'E.verH5676Jordanלַיַּרְדֵּ֖ןlai.yar.DenH3383,or forwardוָהָ֑לְאָהva.Hal.'ahH1973;because our inheritanceנַחֲלָתֵ֙נוּ֙na.cha.la.Te.nuH5159is fallenבָ֤אָהVa.'ahH935to us on this sideמֵעֵ֥בֶרme.'E.verH5676Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֖ןhai.yar.DenH3383eastwardמִזְרָֽחָה׃ פmiz.Ra.chahH4217.

20And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, If ye will doתַּעֲשׂ֖וּןta.'a.SunH6213this thingהַדָּבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697,if ye will go armedתֵּחָֽלְצ֛וּte.Chal.TzuH2502beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068to warלַמִּלְחָמָֽה׃la.mil.cha.MahH4421,

21And will goH5674all of you armedחָל֛וּץcha.LutzH2502overH5674Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֖ןhai.yar.DenH3383beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068,until he hath driven outהוֹרִישׁ֛וֹho.ri.ShoH3423his enemiesאֹיְבָ֖יו'o.ye.VavH341from beforeמִפָּנָֽיו׃mi.pa.NavH6440him,

22And the landהָאָ֜רֶץha.'A.retzH776be subduedוְנִכְבְּשָׁ֨הve.nikh.be.ShahH3533beforeלִפְנֵ֤יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068:then afterwardוְאַחַ֣רve.'a.CharH310ye shall returnתָּשֻׁ֔בוּta.Shu.vuH7725,and be guiltlessנְקִיִּ֛יםne.ki.YimH5355before the Lordמֵיְהוָ֖הme.Yah.wehH3068,and before Israelוּמִיִּשְׂרָאֵ֑לu.mi.Yis.ra.'ElH3478;and this landהָאָ֨רֶץha.'A.retzH776shall be your possessionלַאֲחֻזָּ֖הla.'a.chu.ZahH272beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068.

23But if ye will not do soתַעֲשׂוּן֙ta.'a.SunH6213,behold, ye have sinnedחֲטָאתֶ֖םcha.ta.TemH2398against the Lordלַיהוָ֑הla.Yah.wehH3068:and be sureוּדְעוּ֙u.de.'UH3045your sinחַטַּאתְכֶ֔םcha.tat.KhemH2403will find you outתִּמְצָ֖אtim.Tza'H4672.

24Buildבְּנֽוּ־be.nu-H1129you citiesעָרִים֙'a.RimH5892for your little onesלְטַפְּכֶ֔םle.ta.pe.KhemH2945,and foldsוּגְדֵרֹ֖תu.ge.de.RotH1448for your sheepלְצֹנַאֲכֶ֑םle.tzo.na.'a.KhemH6792;and doתַּעֲשֽׂוּ׃ta.'a.SuH6213that which hath proceededוְהַיֹּצֵ֥אve.hai.yo.Tze'H3318out of your mouthמִפִּיכֶ֖םmi.pi.KhemH6310.

25And the childrenבְּנֵי־be.nei-H1121of Gadגָד֙gadH1410and the childrenוּבְנֵ֣יu.ve.NeiH1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵ֔ןre.'u.VenH7205spakeוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto Mosesמֹשֶׁ֖הmo.ShehH4872,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,Thy servantsעֲבָדֶ֣יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650will doיַעֲשׂ֔וּya.'a.SuH6213as my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113commandethמְצַוֶּֽה׃me.tza.VehH6680.

26Our little onesטַפֵּ֣נוּta.Pe.nuH2945,our wivesנָשֵׁ֔ינוּna.Shei.nuH802,our flocksמִקְנֵ֖נוּmik.Ne.nuH4735,and all our cattleבְּהֶמְתֵּ֑נוּbe.hem.Te.nuH929,shall be there in the citiesבְּעָרֵ֥יbe.'a.ReiH5892of Gileadהַגִּלְעָֽד׃ha.gil.'AdH1568:

27But thy servantsוַעֲבָדֶ֨יךָva.'a.va.Dei.khaH5650will pass overיַֽעַבְר֜וּya.'av.RuH5674,every man armedחֲל֥וּץcha.LutzH2502for warצָבָ֛אtza.Va'H6635,beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068to battleלַמִּלְחָמָ֑הla.mil.cha.MahH4421,as my lordאֲדֹנִ֖י'a.do.NiH113saithדֹּבֵֽר׃do.VerH1696.

28So concerning them Mosesמֹשֶׁ֔הmo.ShehH4872commandedוַיְצַ֤וvay.TzavH6680Eleazarאֶלְעָזָ֣ר'el.'a.ZarH499the priestהַכֹּהֵ֔ןha.ko.HenH3548,and Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֣עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091the sonבִּן־bin-H1121of Nunנ֑וּןNunH5126,and the chiefרָאשֵׁ֛יra.SheiH7218fathersאֲב֥וֹת'a.VotH1of the tribesהַמַּטּ֖וֹתha.ma.TotH4294of the childrenלִבְנֵ֥יliv.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478:

29And Mosesמֹשֶׁ֜הmo.ShehH4872saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559unto them, If the childrenבְנֵי־ve.nei-H1121of Gadגָ֣דgadH1410and the childrenוּבְנֵי־u.ve.nei-H1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵ֣ן׀re.'u.VenH7205will pass with you overיַעַבְר֣וּya.'av.RuH5674Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּ֞ןhai.yar.DenH3383,every man armedחָל֤וּץcha.LutzH2502to battleלַמִּלְחָמָה֙la.mil.cha.MahH4421,beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,and the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776shall be subduedוְנִכְבְּשָׁ֥הve.nikh.be.ShahH3533beforeלִפְנֵיכֶ֑םlif.nei.KhemH6440you; then ye shall giveוּנְתַתֶּ֥םu.ne.ta.TemH5414them the landאֶ֥רֶץ'E.retzH776of Gileadהַגִּלְעָ֖דha.gil.'AdH1568for a possessionלַאֲחֻזָּֽה׃la.'a.chu.ZahH272:

30But if they will not pass overיַֽעַבְר֛וּya.'av.RuH5674with you armedחֲלוּצִ֖יםcha.lu.TzimH2502,they shall have possessionsוְנֹֽאחֲז֥וּve.no.cha.ZuH270amongבְתֹכְכֶ֖םve.to.khe.KhemH8432you in the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of Canaanכְּנָֽעַן׃ke.Na.'anH3667.

31And the childrenבְנֵי־ve.nei-H1121of Gadגָ֛דgadH1410and the childrenוּבְנֵ֥יu.ve.NeiH1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵ֖ןre.'u.VenH7205answeredוַיַּֽעֲנ֧וּvai.ya.'a.NuH6030,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559,As the Lordיְהוָ֛הYah.wehH3068hath saidדִּבֶּ֧רdi.BerH1696unto thy servantsעֲבָדֶ֖יךָ'a.va.Dei.khaH5650,so will we doנַעֲשֶֽׂה׃na.'a.SehH6213.

32We willנַ֣חְנוּNach.nuH5168pass overנַעֲבֹ֧רna.'a.VorH5674armedחֲלוּצִ֛יםcha.lu.TzimH2502beforeלִפְנֵ֥יlif.NeiH6440the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068into the landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776of Canaanכְּנָ֑עַןke.Na.'anH3667,that the possessionאֲחֻזַּ֣ת'a.chu.ZatH272of our inheritanceנַחֲלָתֵ֔נוּna.cha.la.Te.nuH5159on this sideמֵעֵ֖בֶרme.'E.verH5676Jordanלַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃lai.yar.DenH3383may be ours.

34And the childrenבְנֵי־ve.nei-H1121of Gadגָ֔דGadH1410builtוַיִּבְנ֣וּvai.yiv.NuH1129Dibonדִּיבֹ֖ןdi.VonH1769,and Atarothעֲטָרֹ֑ת'a.ta.RotH5852,and Aroerעֲרֹעֵֽר׃'a.ro.'ErH6177,

35And Atroth, ShophanH5855,and Jaazerיַעְזֵ֖רya'.ZerH3270,and Jogbehahוְיָגְבֳּהָֽה׃ve.ya.ge.bo.HahH3011,

36And Beth–nimrahH1039,and Beth–haranH1028,fencedמִבְצָ֖רmiv.TzarH4013citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892:and foldsוְגִדְרֹ֥תve.gid.RotH1448for sheepצֹֽאן׃TzonH6629.

37And the childrenוּבְנֵ֤יu.ve.NeiH1121of Reubenרְאוּבֵן֙re.'u.VenH7205builtבָּנ֔וּba.NuH1129Heshbonחֶשְׁבּ֖וֹןchesh.BonH2809,and Elealehאֶלְעָלֵ֑א'el.'a.Le'H500,and Kirjathaimקִרְיָתָֽיִם׃kir.ya.Ta.yimH7156,

38And Neboנְב֞וֹne.VoH5015,and Baal–meonH1186, (their namesH8034being changedH4142,)and Shibmahשִׂבְמָ֑הsiv.MahH7643:and gaveוַיִּקְרְא֣וּvai.yik.re.'UH7121other namesH8034unto the citiesהֶעָרִ֖יםhe.'a.RimH5892which they buildedבָּנֽוּ׃ba.NuH1129.
