Jonah 4
Darby Bible
1And it displeased JonahH3124 exceedingly, and he was angryH2734. 2And he prayedH6419 unto Jehovah, and saidH559, Ah, Jehovah, wasH1961 not this my sayingH559 when I wasH1961 yet in my country? ThereforeH3651 I wasH1961 minded to fleeH1272 at first unto TarshishH8659; for I knewH3045 that thou art a graciousH2587 1GodH410, and merciful, slow to angerH639, and of greatH7227 loving-kindness, and repentest thee of the evilH7451. 3And nowH6258, Jehovah, takeH3947, I beseech thee, my lifeH5315 from me, for it is betterH2896 for me to die than to live. 4And Jehovah saidH559, Doest thou wellH3190 to be angryH2734? 5And JonahH3124 wentH3318 out of the cityH5892, and satH3427 on the eastH6924 side of the cityH5892, and there madeH6213 him a boothH5521, and satH3427 under it in the shadeH6738, till he might seeH7200 what would becomeH1961 of the cityH5892. 6And Jehovah Elohim prepared a gourd, and made it to come up over JonahH3124, that it might beH1961 a shadeH6738 over his headH7218, to deliverH5337 him from his troubleH7451. And JonahH3124 wasH1961 exceeding gladH8055 because of the gourd. 7But 2GodH430 prepared a worm when the morning rose the nextH4283 dayH4283, and it smote the gourd, that it witheredH3001. 8And it came to pass, when the sunH8121 arose, that 3GodH430 prepared a sultry eastH6921 windH7307; and the sunH8121 beat upon the headH7218 of JonahH3124, so that he faintedH5968; and he requested for himself that he might dieH4191, and saidH559, It is betterH2896 for me to dieH4191 than to live. 9And 4GodH430 saidH559 to JonahH3124, Doest thou wellH3190 to be angryH2734 for the gourd? And he saidH559, I do wellH3190 to be angryH2734, unto deathH4194. 10And Jehovah saidH559, Thou hast pityH2347 on the gourd, for which thou hast not laboured, neither madest it growH1431; which came up in a nightH3915, and perishedH6 in a nightH3915: 11and I, should not I have pityH2347 on NinevehH5210, the greatH1419 cityH5892, wherein are more than a hundred and twenty thousandH7239 personsH120 that cannot discern between their rightH3225 handH3225 and their left handH3225; and also muchH7235 cattleH929?
