Isaiah 9:8-21

8TheLordsentaworduntoJacob,anditlightethuponIsrael.

9Andallthepeople shall know [it], EphraimandtheinhabitantofSamaria,thatsayinprideandstoutnessofheart,

10Thebricksarefallendown,butwewillbuildwithhewn stones;thesycamore treesarecutdown,butwewillreplacethemwithcedars.

11AndJehovahwillsetuptheadversariesofRezinagainsthim,andarmhisenemies,

12theSyriansontheeast,andthePhilistinesonthewest;andtheyshalldevourIsraelwithopen mouth.ForallthishisangerisnotturnedH7725awayH7725,andhishandisstretchedoutstill.

13Butthepeople turneth not untohimthatsmiteththem,andtheydo not seekJehovahofhosts.

14AndJehovahwillcutofffromIsraelheadH7218andtailH2180, palm-branchandrush,inoneday:

15theancientandhonourable,heisthehead;andtheprophetthatteachethlies,heisthetail.

16Fortheguidesofthispeoplemislead [them];andtheythatareguidedbythemareswallowedup.

17ThereforetheLordwillnotrejoiceintheiryoung men, neitherwillhehavemercyontheirfatherlessandontheirwidows;foreveryoneisahypocriteandanevildoer,andevery mouth speaketh folly.Forallthishisangerisnotturnedaway,andhishandisstretchedoutstill.

18Forwickedness burnethasafireH784:itdevoureth briarsandthorns,andkindlethinthethicketsoftheforest,andtheygorollinguplikeapillarofsmoke.

19ThroughthewrathofJehovahofhostsistheland burnedup,andthepeopleisasfuelforfire:amanH376sparethnothisbrother;

20andhesnatchethontherighthandיָד֥וֹya.DoH3027,andishungry,andeatethonthelefthandH3027;andtheyarenotsatisfied.Theyeateverymanthefleshofhisownarm:

21Manasseh, Ephraim, and Ephraim, Manasseh; [and] they together are against Judah. For all this his anger is not turned away, and his hand is stretched out still.
