Jotham Reigns in Judah
(2 Kings 15:32–38)
1JothamH3147 was twenty-fiveH6242H2568 years oldH1121H8141 when he became kingH4427, and he reignedH4427 in JerusalemH3389 sixteenH8337H6240 yearsH8141. His mother’sH517 nameH8034 was JerushahH33881 daughterH1323 of ZadokH6659. 2And he didH6213 what was rightH3477 in the eyesH5869 of the LORDH3068, just asH3605 his fatherH1 UzziahH58182 had doneH6213. In additionH7535, he did notH3808 enterH935H413 the templeH1964 of the LORDH3068. But the peopleH5971 stillH5750 behaved corruptlyH7843.
3JothamH1931 rebuiltH1129 the UpperH5945 GateH8179 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, and he workedH1129 extensivelyH7230 on the wallH2346 at the hill of OphelH6077. 4He also builtH1129 citiesH5892 in the hill countryH2022 of JudahH3063 and fortressesH1003 and towersH4026 in the forestsH2793H1129.
5Jotham waged warH3898 againstH5973 the kingH4428 of the AmmonitesH1121H5983 and defeated themH2388H5921, and thatH1931 yearH8141 theyH1121H5983 gaveH5414 him a hundredH3967 talentsH3603 of silverH3701,3 tenH6235 thousandH505 corsH3734 of wheatH2406,4 and tenH6235 thousandH505 cors of barleyH8184.5 They paidH7725 him the sameH2063 in the secondH8145 and thirdH7992 yearsH8141. 6So JothamH3147 grew powerfulH2388 becauseH3588 he orderedH3559 his waysH1870 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 his GodH430.
7As for the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of JothamH3147, along with allH3605 his warsH4421 and his waysH1870, they are indeedH2005 writtenH3789 inH5921 the BookH5612 of the KingsH4428 of IsraelH3478 and JudahH3063. 8He wasH1961 twenty-fiveH6242H2568 years oldH1121H8141 when he became kingH4427, and he reignedH4427 in JerusalemH3389 sixteenH8337H6240 yearsH8141. 9And JothamH3147 restedH7901 withH5973 his fathersH1 and was buriedH6912 in the CityH5892 of DavidH1732. And his sonH1121 AhazH271 reignedH4427 in his placeH8478.
