Chronicles 24:17-25
AfterH310 the deathH4194 of Jehoiada, howeverH3077, the officialsH8269 of JudahH3063 cameH935 and paid homageH7812 to the kingH4428, andH227 he listenedH8085 to themH413. 18They abandonedH5800 the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, and servedH5647 the Asherah polesH842 and idolsH6091. So wrathH7110 cameH1961 uponH5921 JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 for thisH2063 guilt of theirsH819. 19Nevertheless, the LORD sentH7971 prophetsH5030 to bring the people backH7725 toH413 Him and to testifyH5749 against them, but they would notH3808 listenH238.
Then the SpiritH7307 of GodH430 came uponH3847 ZechariahH2148 sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548, who stood upH5975 beforeH5921 the peopleH5971 and saidH559 to them, “This is whatH3541 GodH430 saysH559: ‘WhyH4100 do youH859 transgressH5674 the commandmentsH4687 of the LORDH3068 so that you cannotH3808 prosperH6743? BecauseH3588 you have forsakenH5800 the LORDH3068, He has forsakenH5800 youH853.’”
But they conspiredH7194 against ZechariahH5921, and by orderH4687 of the kingH4428, they stoned himH7275H68 in the courtyardH2691 of the houseH1004 of the LORDH3068.
Thus KingH4428 JoashH3101 failed toH3808 rememberH2142 the kindnessH2617 thatH834 Zechariah’s fatherH1 JehoiadaH3077 had extendedH6213 to himH5973. Instead, Joash killedH2026 Jehoiada’s sonH1121. As he lay dyingH4191, Zechariah saidH559, “May the LORDH3068 see thisH7200 and call you to accountH1875.”
In the springH8622H8141,1 the army of AramH758 went to warH5927 against JoashH5921H2428. They enteredH935H413 JudahH3063 and JerusalemH3389 and destroyedH7843 allH3605 the leadersH8269 of the peopleH5971, and they sentH7971 allH3605 the plunderH7998 to their kingH4428 in DamascusH1834. 24AlthoughH3588 the ArameanH758 armyH2428 had comeH935 with only a fewH4705 menH582, the LORDH3068 deliveredH5414 into their handH3027 a veryH3966 greatH7230 armyH2428. BecauseH3588 Judah had forsakenH5800 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, judgmentH8201 was executedH6213 onH854 JoashH3101.
And when the Arameans had withdrawnH1980H4480, they leftH5800 Joash severelyH7227 woundedH4251. His own servantsH5650 conspiredH7194 against himH5921 for shedding the bloodH1818 of the sonH11212 of JehoiadaH3077 the priestH3548, and they killed himH2026 onH5921 his bedH4296. So he diedH4191 and was buriedH6912 in the CityH5892 of DavidH1732, but notH3808 in the tombsH6913 of the kingsH4428.
