1And Adamוְהָ֣אָדָ֔םve.Ha.'a.DamH120had relations withיָדַ֖עya.Da'H3045אֶת־'et-H853his wifeאִשְׁתּ֑וֹ'ish.ToH802Eveחַוָּ֣הcha.VahH2332,and she conceivedוַתַּ֙הַר֙va.Ta.harH2029and gave birth toוַתֵּ֣לֶדva.Te.ledH3205אֶת־'et-H853Cainקַ֔יִןKa.yinH7014. “With the help ofאֶת־'et-H854the LORDיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068I have brought forthקָנִ֥יתִיka.Ni.tiH7069a manאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376,”she saidוַתֹּ֕אמֶרva.To.merH559.

2Laterוַתֹּ֣סֶףva.To.sefH3254she gave birthלָלֶ֔דֶתla.Le.detH3205אֶת־'et-H853to Cain’s brotherאָחִ֖יו'a.ChivH251אֶת־'et-H853Abelהָ֑בֶלHa.velH1893.Nowוַֽיְהִי־vay.hi-H1961Abelהֶ֙בֶל֙he.velH1893wasהָיָ֖הha.YahH1961a keeperרֹ֣עֵהRo.'ehH7462of sheepצֹ֔אןTzonH6629,while Cainוְקַ֕יִןve.Ka.yinH7014was a tillerעֹבֵ֥ד'o.VedH5647of the soilאֲדָמָֽה׃'a.da.MahH127.

3So in the courseמִקֵּ֣ץmi.KetzH7093of timeיָמִ֑יםya.MimH3117וַֽיְהִ֖יvay.HiH1961,Cainקַ֜יִןKa.yinH7014broughtוַיָּבֵ֨אvai.ya.Ve'H935some of the fruitמִפְּרִ֧יmi.pe.RiH6529of the soilהָֽאֲדָמָ֛הha.'a.da.MahH127as an offeringמִנְחָ֖הmin.ChahH4503to the LORDלַֽיהוָֽה׃la.Yah.wehH3068,

4while Abelוְהֶ֨בֶל ה֛וּאve.He.vel hu'H1893 H1931גַם־gam-H1571broughtהֵבִ֥יאhe.Vi'H935the best portionsוּמֵֽחֶלְבֵהֶ֑ןu.me.chel.ve.HenH2459of the firstbornמִבְּכֹר֥וֹתmi.be.kho.RotH1060of his flockצֹאנ֖וֹtzo.NoH6629.And the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068looked with favorוַיִּ֣שַׁעvai.Yi.sha'H8159onאֶל־'el-H413Abelהֶ֖בֶלHe.velH1893andוְאֶל־ve.'el-H413his offeringמִנְחָתֽוֹ׃min.cha.ToH4503,

5butוְאֶל־ve.'el-H413He had noלֹ֣אlo'H3808regardשָׁעָ֑הsha.'AhH8159forוְאֶל־ve.'el-H413Cainקַ֥יִןKa.yinH7014and his offeringמִנְחָת֖וֹmin.cha.ToH4503.So Cainלְקַ֙יִן֙le.Ka.yinH7014became veryמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966angryוַיִּ֤חַרvai.Yi.charH2734,and his countenanceפָּנָֽיו׃pa.NavH6440fellוַֽיִּפְּל֖וּvai.yi.pe.LuH5307.

6“Whyלָ֚מָּהLa.mahH4100are you angryחָ֣רָהCha.rahH2734,”saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068toאֶל־'el-H413Cainקָ֑יִןKa.yinH7014, “and whyוְלָ֖מָּהve.La.mahH4100has your countenanceפָנֶֽיךָ׃fa.Nei.khaH6440fallenנָפְל֥וּna.fe.LuH5307?

7Ifאִם־'im-H518you do what is rightתֵּיטִיב֙tei.TivH3190,willהֲל֤וֹאha.Lo'H3808you notלֹ֣אlo'H3808be acceptedשְׂאֵ֔תse.'EtH7613?But ifוְאִם֙ve.'ImH518you refuse to do what is rightתֵיטִ֔יבtei.TivH3190,sinחַטָּ֣אתcha.TatH2403is crouchingרֹבֵ֑ץro.VetzH7257at your doorלַפֶּ֖תַחla.Pe.tachH6607;it desiresתְּשׁ֣וּקָת֔וֹte.Shu.ka.ToH8669youוְאֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ve.'e.Lei.khaH413,but youוְאַתָּ֖הve.'a.TahH859must masterתִּמְשָׁל־tim.shol-H4910it.”

8Then Cainקַ֖יִןKa.yinH7014saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413his brotherאָחִ֑יו'a.ChivH251Abelהֶ֣בֶלHe.velH1893, “Let us go out to the field.”Andוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961while they wereבִּהְיוֹתָ֣םbih.yo.TamH1961in the fieldH7704,Cainקַ֛יִןKa.yinH7014rose upוַיָּ֥קָםvai.Ya.komH6965againstאֶל־'el-H413his brotherאָחִ֖יו'a.ChivH251Abelהֶ֥בֶלHe.velH1893and killed himוַיַּהַרְגֵֽהוּ׃vai.ya.har.Ge.huH2026.

9And the LORDיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Cainקַ֔יִןKa.yinH7014, “Whereאֵ֖י'eiH335isyour brotherאָחִ֑יךָ'a.Chi.khaH251Abelהֶ֣בֶלHe.velH1893?” “I do notלֹ֣אlo'H3808knowיָדַ֔עְתִּיya.Da'.tiH3045!”he answeredוַיֹּ֙אמֶר֙vai.Yo.merH559. “Am Iאָנֹֽכִי׃'a.No.khiH595my brother’sאָחִ֖י'a.ChiH251keeperהֲשֹׁמֵ֥רha.sho.MerH8104?”

10“Whatמֶ֣הmehH4100have you doneעָשִׂ֑יתָ'a.Si.taH6213?”repliedוַיֹּ֖אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the LORD. “The voiceק֚וֹלKolH6963of your brother’sאָחִ֔יךָ'a.Chi.khaH251bloodדְּמֵ֣יde.MeiH1818cries outצֹעֲקִ֥יםtzo.'a.KimH6817to Meאֵלַ֖י'e.LaiH413fromמִן־min-H4480the groundהָֽאֲדָמָֽה׃Ha.'a.da.MahH127.

11Nowוְעַתָּ֖הve.'a.TahH6258youאָ֑תָּה'A.tahH859arecursed and banishedאָר֣וּר'a.RurH779fromמִן־min-H4480the groundהָֽאֲדָמָה֙ha.'a.da.MahH127,whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834has openedפָּצְתָ֣הpa.tze.TahH6475אֶת־'et-H853its mouthפִּ֔יהָPi.haH6310to receiveלָקַ֛חַתla.Ka.chatH3947אֶת־'et-H853your brother’sאָחִ֖יךָ'a.Chi.khaH251bloodדְּמֵ֥יde.MeiH1818from your handמִיָּדֶֽךָ׃mi.ya.De.khaH3027.

12Whenכִּ֤יkiH3588you tillתַֽעֲבֹד֙ta.'a.VodH5647אֶת־'et-H853the groundהָ֣אֲדָמָ֔הha.'a.da.MahH127,it will noלֹֽא־lo'-H3808longerתֹסֵ֥ףto.SefH3254yieldתֵּת־tet-H5414its produceכֹּחָ֖הּko.ChahH3581to you.You will beתִּֽהְיֶ֥הtih.YehH1961a fugitiveנָ֥עna'H5128and a wandererוָנָ֖דva.NadH5110on the earthבָאָֽרֶץ׃va.'A.retzH776.”

13But Cainקַ֖יִןKa.yinH7014saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068, “My punishmentעֲוֹנִ֖י'a.vo.NiH5771isgreaterגָּד֥וֹלga.DolH1419than I can bearמִנְּשֹֽׂא׃mi.ne.So'H5375.

14Beholdהֵן֩henH2005,thisאֹתִ֜י'o.TiH853dayהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117You have driven meגֵּרַ֨שְׁתָּge.Rash.taH1644from the faceפְּנֵ֣יpe.NeiH6440of the earthהָֽאֲדָמָ֔הha.'a.da.MahH127,and fromמֵעַל֙me.'AlH5921Your faceוּמִפָּנֶ֖יךָu.mi.pa.Nei.khaH6440I will be hiddenאֶסָּתֵ֑ר'e.sa.TerH5641;I will beוְהָיִ֜יתִיve.ha.Yi.tiH1961a fugitiveנָ֤עna'H5128and a wandererוָנָד֙va.NadH5110on the earthבָּאָ֔רֶץba.'A.retzH776,andוְהָיָ֥הve.ha.YahH1961whoeverכָל־khol-H3605finds meמֹצְאִ֖יmo.tze.'IH4672will kill meיַֽהַרְגֵֽנִי׃Ya.har.Ge.niH2026.”

15“Not soלָכֵן֙la.KhenH3651!”repliedוַיֹּ֧אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559the LORDיְהוָ֗הYah.wehH3068. “If anyoneכָּל־kol-H3605slaysהֹרֵ֣גho.RegH2026Cainקַ֔יִןKa.yinH7014, then Cainwill be avengedיֻקָּ֑םyu.KamH5358sevenfoldשִׁבְעָתַ֖יִםshiv.'a.Ta.yimH7659.”And the LORDיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068placedוַיָּ֨שֶׂםvai.Ya.semH7760a markא֔וֹת'otH226on Cainלְקַ֙יִן֙le.Ka.yinH7014,so that no oneלְבִלְתִּ֥י כָּל־le.vil.Ti kol-H1115 H3605who found himמֹצְאֽוֹ׃mo.tze.'OH4672would killהַכּוֹת־ha.kot-H5221himאֹת֖וֹ'o.ToH853.

16So Cainקַ֖יִןKa.yinH7014went outוַיֵּ֥צֵאvai.Ye.tze'H3318from the presenceמִלִּפְנֵ֣יmi.lif.NeiH6440of the LORDיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068and settledוַיֵּ֥שֶׁבvai.Ye.shevH3427in the landבְּאֶֽרֶץ־be.'e.retz-H776of Nodנ֖וֹדNodH5113,eastקִדְמַת־kid.mat-H6926of Edenעֵֽדֶן׃'E.denH5731.

17And Cainקַ֙יִן֙ka.yinH7014אֶת־'et-H853had relations withוַיֵּ֤דַעvai.Ye.da'H3045his wifeאִשְׁתּ֔וֹ'ish.ToH802,and she conceivedוַתַּ֖הַרva.Ta.harH2029and gave birth toוַתֵּ֣לֶדva.Te.ledH3205אֶת־'et-H853Enochחֲנ֑וֹךְcha.NokhH2585.Thenוַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961Cainbuiltבֹּ֣נֶהBo.nehH1129a cityעִ֔יר'IrH5892and namedוַיִּקְרָא֙ שֵׁ֣םvai.yik.Ra' shemH7121 H8034itהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892afterכְּשֵׁ֖םke.ShemH8034his sonבְּנ֥וֹbe.NoH1121Enochחֲנֽוֹךְ׃cha.NokhH2585.

18Now to Enochלַֽחֲנוֹךְ֙la.cha.noKhH2585אֶת־'et-H853was bornוַיִּוָּלֵ֤דvai.yi.va.LedH3205Iradעִירָ֔ד'i.RadH5897,and Iradוְעִירָ֕דve.'i.RadH5897was the father ofיָלַ֖דya.LadH3205אֶת־'et-H853Mehujaelמְחֽוּיָאֵ֑לme.chu.ya.'ElH4232,and Mehujaelוּמְחִיּיָאֵ֗לu.me.chi.ya.'ElH4232was the father ofיָלַד֙ya.LadH3205אֶת־'et-H853Methusaelמְת֣וּשָׁאֵ֔לme.Tu.sha.'ElH4967,and Methusaelוּמְתוּשָׁאֵ֖לu.me.tu.sha.'ElH4967was the father ofיָלַ֥דya.LadH3205אֶת־'et-H853Lamechלָֽמֶךְ׃La.mekhH3929.

19And Lamechלֶ֖מֶךְLe.mekhH3929marriedוַיִּֽקַּֽח־vai.yi.kach-H3947twoשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147womenנָשִׁ֑יםna.ShimH802,oneהָֽאַחַת֙ha.'a.ChatH259namedשֵׁ֤םshemH8034Adahעָדָ֔ה'a.DahH5711andוְשֵׁ֥םve.ShemH8034the otherהַשֵּׁנִ֖יתha.she.NitH8145Zillahצִלָּֽה׃tzi.LahH6741.

20Adahעָדָ֖ה'a.DahH5711אֶת־'et-H853gave birth toוַתֵּ֥לֶדva.Te.ledH3205Jabalיָבָ֑לya.ValH2989;heה֣וּאhu'H1931wasהָיָ֔הha.YahH1961the fatherאֲבִ֕י'a.ViH1of those who dwellיֹשֵׁ֥בyo.ShevH3427in tentsאֹ֖הֶל'O.helH168and raise livestockוּמִקְנֶֽה׃u.mik.NehH4735.

21And his brother’sאָחִ֖יו'a.ChivH251nameוְשֵׁ֥םve.ShemH8034wasJubalיוּבָ֑לyu.ValH3106;heה֣וּאhu'H1931wasהָיָ֔הha.YahH1961the fatherאֲבִ֕י'a.ViH1of allכָּל־kol-H3605who playתֹּפֵ֥שׂto.FesH8610the harpכִּנּ֖וֹרki.NorH3658and fluteוְעוּגָֽב׃ve.'u.GavH5748.

22And Zillahוְצִלָּ֣ה גַם־ הִ֗ואve.tzi.Lah gam- hi'H6741 H1931 H1571gave birth toיָֽלְדָה֙yal.DahH3205אֶת־'et-H853Tubal-cainH8423,a forgerלֹטֵ֕שׁlo.TeshH3913of everyכָּל־kol-H3605implementH2794of bronzeנְחֹ֖שֶׁתne.Cho.shetH5178and ironוּבַרְזֶ֑לu.var.ZelH1270.And the sisterוַֽאֲח֥וֹתva.'a.ChotH269of Tubal-cainH8423wasNaamahנַֽעֲמָֽה׃Na.'a.MahH5279.

23Then Lamechלֶ֜מֶךְLe.mekhH3929saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his wivesלְנָשָׁ֗יוle.na.ShavH802: “Adahעָדָ֤ה'a.DahH5711and Zillahוְצִלָּה֙ve.tzi.LahH6741,hearשְׁמַ֣עַןshe.Ma.'anH8085my voiceקוֹלִ֔יko.LiH6963;wivesנְשֵׁ֣יne.SheiH802of Lamechלֶ֔מֶךְLe.mekhH3929,listenהַאְזֵ֖נָּהha'.Ze.nahH238to my speechאִמְרָתִ֑י'im.ra.TiH565.Forכִּ֣יkiH3588Iאִ֤ישׁ'ishH376have slainהָרַ֙גְתִּי֙ha.Rag.tiH2026a manfor wounding meלְפִצְעִ֔יle.fitz.'IH6482,a young manוְיֶ֖לֶדve.Ye.ledH3206for striking meלְחַבֻּרָתִֽי׃le.cha.bu.ra.TiH2250.

24Ifכִּ֥יkiH3588Cainקָ֑יִןKa.yinH7014is avengedיֻקַּם־yu.kam-H5358sevenfoldשִׁבְעָתַ֖יִםshiv.'a.Ta.yimH7659,then Lamechוְלֶ֖מֶךְve.Le.mekhH3929seventy-sevenfoldשִׁבְעִ֥ים וְשִׁבְעָֽה׃shiv.'Im ve.shiv.'AhH7657 H7651.”

26And to Sethוּלְשֵׁ֤ת הוּא֙ul.Shet hu'H8352 H1931alsoגַּם־gam-H1571a sonבֵּ֔ןBenH1121was bornיֻלַּד־yu.lad-H3205,and he calledוַיִּקְרָ֥אvai.yik.Ra'H7121אֶת־'et-H853himשְׁמ֖וֹshe.MoH8034Enoshאֱנ֑וֹשׁ'e.No.oshH583.At that timeאָ֣ז'azH227menbeganהוּחַ֔לhu.ChalH2490to call uponלִקְרֹ֖אlik.Ro'H7121the nameבְּשֵׁ֥םbe.ShemH8034of the LORDיְהוָֽה׃ פYah.wehH3068.
