16He entrusted them toוַיִּתֵּן֙ בְּיַד־vai.yi.Ten be.yad-H5414 H3027his servantsעֲבָדָ֔יו'a.va.DavH5650in separateלְבַדּ֑וֹle.va.DoH905herdsH5739and toldוַ֤יֹּאמֶר אֶל־Vai.yo.mer 'el-H559 H413themעֲבָדָיו֙'a.va.DavH5650, “Go onעִבְר֣וּ'iv.RuH5674ahead of meלְפָנַ֔יle.fa.NaiH6440,and keepתָּשִׂ֔ימוּta.Si.muH7760some distanceוְרֶ֣וַחve.Re.vachH7305betweenבֵּ֥יןbeinH996the herdsוּבֵ֥יןu.VeinH5739 H996.”

17He instructedוַיְצַ֥וvay.TzavH6680אֶת־'et-H853the one in the leadהָרִאשׁ֖וֹןha.ri.ShonH7223 H559, “Whenכִּ֣יkiH3588my brotherאָחִ֗י'a.ChiH251Esauעֵשָׂ֣ו'e.SavH6215meetsיִֽפְגָּשְׁךָ֞yif.ga.she.KhaH6298you and asksוִשְׁאֵֽלְךָ֙vish.'e.le.KhaH7592 H559, ‘To whomלְמִי־le.mi-H4310do you belongאַ֙תָּה֙'a.tahH859,whereוְאָ֣נָהve.'A.nahH575are you goingתֵלֵ֔ךְte.LekhH1980,and whoseוּלְמִ֖יu.le.MiH4310animals are theseאֵ֥לֶּה'E.lehH428before youH6440?’

18then you are to sayH559, ‘They belong to your servantלְעַבְדְּךָ֣le.'av.de.KhaH5650Jacobלְיַעֲקֹ֔בle.ya.'a.KoH3290.Theyהִוא֙hi'H1931are a giftמִנְחָ֥הmin.ChahH4503,sentשְׁלוּחָ֔הshe.lu.ChahH7971to my lordלַֽאדֹנִ֖יla.do.NiH113EsauH6215.And beholdוְהִנֵּ֥ה גַם־ve.hi.Neh gam-H2009 H1571, Jacobה֖וּאhu'H1931is behind usאַחֲרֵֽינוּ׃'a.cha.Rei.nuH310.’”

19He alsoH1571אֶת־'et-H853instructedוַיְצַ֞וvay.TzavH6680the secondהַשֵּׁנִ֗יha.she.NiH8145,the thirdהַשְּׁלִישִׁ֔יha.she.li.ShiH7992 H1571אֶת־'et-H853,andH1571אֶת־'et-H853all thoseכָּל־kol-H3605followingהַהֹ֣לְכִ֔יםha.Ho.le.KhimH1980behindH310the herdsהָעֲדָרִ֖יםha.'a.da.RimH5739 H559: “When you meetבְּמֹצַאֲכֶ֖םbe.mo.tza.'a.KhemH4672EsauH6215,you are to sayתְּדַבְּר֣וּןte.da.be.RunH1696the sameהַזֶּה֙ha.ZehH2088thingכַּדָּבָ֤רka.da.VarH1697toאֶל־'el-H413himאֹתֽוֹ׃'o.ToH853.

20You are alsoH1571to sayH559, ‘Lookהִנֵּ֛הhi.NehH2009,your servantעַבְדְּךָ֥'av.de.KhaH5650Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290is right behind usH310.’”Forכִּֽי־ki-H3588he thoughtH559, “I will appeaseאֲכַפְּרָ֣ה'a.kha.pe.RahH3722Esauפָנָ֗יוfa.NavH6440with the giftבַּמִּנְחָה֙ba.min.ChahH4503that is goingH1980before meלְפָנָ֔יle.fa.NaiH6440.AfterH310thatכֵן֙khenH3651I can faceאֶרְאֶ֣ה'er.'EhH7200himפָנָ֔יוfa.NavH6440,and perhapsאוּלַ֖י'u.LaiH194he will acceptיִשָּׂ֥אyi.Sa'H5375meפָנָֽי׃fa.NaiH6440.”

21So Jacob’s giftsH4503wentוַתַּעֲבֹ֥רva.ta.'a.VorH5674on beforeעַל־'al-H5921himH6440,while heוְה֛וּאve.Hu'H1931spentלָ֥ןlanH3885theהַה֖וּאha.Hu'H1931nightבַּלַּֽיְלָה־ba.lay.lah-H3915in the campבַּֽמַּחֲנֶֽה׃Ba.ma.cha.NehH4264.

22During the nightH3915 H1931Jacob got upוַיָּ֣קָם׀vai.Ya.komH6965and tookוַיִּקַּ֞חvai.yi.KachH3947אֶת־'et-H853his twoשְׁתֵּ֤יshe.TeiH8147wivesנָשָׁיו֙na.ShavH802וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,his twoשְׁתֵּ֣יshe.TeiH8147maidservantsשִׁפְחֹתָ֔יוshif.cho.TavH8198וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853,and his elevenאַחַ֥ד עָשָׂ֖ר'a.Chad 'a.SarH259 H6240sonsיְלָדָ֑יוye.la.DavH3206,and crossedH5674אֵ֖ת'etH853the fordמַעֲבַ֥רma.'a.VarH4569of the Jabbokיַבֹּֽק׃ya.BokH2999.
