3Year after yearH3117Elkanahהָאִ֨ישׁ הַה֤וּאha.'Ish ha.Hu'H1931H376would go upוְעָלָה֩ve.'a.LahH5927from his cityמֵֽעִירוֹ֙me.'i.RoH5892to worshipלְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֹ֧תle.hish.ta.cha.VotH7812and sacrificeוְלִזְבֹּ֛חַve.liz.Bo.achH2076to the LORDלַיהוָ֥הla.Yah.wehH3068of Hostsצְבָא֖וֹתtze.va.'otH6635at Shilohבְּשִׁלֹ֑הbe.shi.LohH7887,whereוְשָׁ֞םve.ShamH8033Eli’sעֵלִ֗י'e.LiH5941twoשְׁנֵ֣יshe.NeiH8147sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121,Hophniחָפְנִי֙cha.fe.NiH2652and Phinehasוּפִ֣נְחָ֔סu.Fin.ChasH6372,were priestsכֹּהֲנִ֖יםko.ha.NimH3548to the LORDלַיהוָֽה׃la.Yah.wehH3068.
4And whenever the dayהַיּ֔וֹםhai.YomH3117cameוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961for Elkanahאֶלְקָנָ֑ה'el.ka.NahH511to present his sacrificeוַיִּזְבַּ֖חvai.yiz.BachH2076,he would giveוְנָתַ֞ןve.na.TanH5414portionsמָנֽוֹת׃ma.NotH4490to his wifeאִשְׁתּ֗וֹ'ish.ToH802Peninnahלִפְנִנָּ֣הlif.ni.NahH6444and to allוּֽלְכָל־u.le.khol-H3605her sonsבָּנֶ֛יהָba.Nei.haH1121and daughtersוּבְנוֹתֶ֖יהָu.ve.no.Tei.haH1323.
5But to Hannahוּלְחַנָּ֕הu.le.cha.NahH2584he would giveיִתֵּ֛ןyi.TenH5414aאַחַ֖ת'a.ChatH259doubleאַפָּ֑יִם'a.Pa.yimH639portionמָנָ֥הma.NahH4490,forכִּ֤יkiH3588אֶת־'et-H853he lovedאָהֵ֔ב'a.HevH157herחַנָּה֙cha.NahH2584even though the LORDוַֽיהוָ֖הva.Yah.wehH3068had closedסָגַ֥רsa.GarH5462her wombרַחְמָֽהּ׃rach.MahH7358.
6Becauseכִּֽי־ki-H3588the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068had closedסָגַ֥רsa.GarH5462Hannah’swombבְּעַ֥ד רַחְמָֽהּ׃be.'Ad rach.MahH1157H7358,her rivalצָֽרָתָהּ֙ גַּם־tza.ra.Tah gam-H6869H1571בַּעֲב֖וּרba.'a.VurH5668would provoke herהַרְּעִמָ֑הּha.re.'i.MahH7481viciouslyכַּ֔עַסKa.'asH3708to taunt herוְכִֽעֲסַ֤תָּהve.khi.'a.Sa.tahH3707.
7And this went onוְכֵ֨ן יַעֲשֶׂ֜הve.Khen ya.'a.SehH3651H6213yearשָׁנָ֣הsha.NahH8141after yearבְשָׁנָ֗הve.sha.NahH8141.Wheneverמִדֵּ֤יmi.DeiH1767Hannahwent upעֲלֹתָהּ֙'a.lo.TahH5927to the houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068כֵּ֖ןkenH3651, her rivaltaunted herתַּכְעִסֶ֑נָּהtakh.'i.Se.nahH3707until she weptוַתִּבְכֶּ֖הva.tiv.KehH1058and would notוְלֹ֥אve.Lo'H3808eatתֹאכַֽל׃to.KhalH398.
