Judges 10

American Standard Version

1And after AbimelechH40 there aroseH6965 to saveH3467 IsraelH3478 TolaH8439 the sonH1121 of PuahH6312, the sonH1121 of DodoH1734, a manH376 of IssacharH3485; and he dweltH3427 in Shamir in the hill-country of EphraimH669. 2And he judgedH8199 IsraelH3478 twentyH6242 and threeH7969 yearsH8141, and diedH4191, and was buriedH6912 in Shamir.

3And after him aroseH6965 JairH2971, the GileaditeH1569; and he judgedH8199 IsraelH3478 twentyH6242 and twoH8147 yearsH8141. 4And he had thirtyH7970 sonsH1121 that rodeH7392 on thirtyH7970 ass colts, and they had thirtyH7970 cities, which are calledH7121 Havvoth-jairH2334 unto this dayH3117, which are in the landH776 of GileadH1568. 5And JairH2971 diedH4191, and was buriedH6912 in Kamon.

6And the children of IsraelH3478 again did that which was evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, and servedH5647 the Baalim, and the AshtarothH6252, and the godsH430 of Syria, and the godsH430 of SidonH6721, and the godsH430 of MoabH4124, and the godsH430 of the children of AmmonH5983, and the godsH430 of the PhilistinesH6430; and they forsook Jehovah, and servedH5647 him not. 7And the angerH639 of Jehovah was kindled against IsraelH3478, and he soldH4376 them into the handH3027 of the PhilistinesH6430, and into the handH3027 of the children of AmmonH5983. 8And they vexed and oppressed the children of IsraelH3478 that yearH8141: eighteen yearsH8141 oppressed they all the children of IsraelH3478 that were beyond the JordanH3383 in the landH776 of the AmoritesH567, which is in GileadH1568. 9And the children of AmmonH5983 passedH5674 over the JordanH3383 to fightH3898 alsoH1571 against JudahH3063, and against BenjaminH1144, and against the houseH1004 of EphraimH669; so that IsraelH3478 was sore distressed.

10And the children of IsraelH3478 criedH2199 unto Jehovah, sayingH559, We have sinnedH2398 against thee, even because we have forsaken our GodH430, and have servedH5647 the Baalim. 11And Jehovah saidH559 unto the children of IsraelH3478, Did not I save you from the Egyptians, and from the AmoritesH567, from the children of AmmonH5983, and from the PhilistinesH6430? 12The SidoniansH6722 also, and the Amalekites, and the Maonites, did oppressH3905 you; and ye criedH6817 unto me, and I savedH3467 you out of their handH3027. 13Yet ye have forsaken me, and servedH5647 otherH312 godsH430: wherefore I will saveH3467 you no more. 14Go and cryH2199 unto the godsH430 which ye have chosenH977; let them saveH3467 you in the timeH6256 of your distressH6869. 15And the children of IsraelH3478 saidH559 unto Jehovah, We have sinnedH2398: do thou unto us whatsoever seemeth goodH2896 unto thee; onlyH389 deliverH5337 us, we pray thee, this dayH3117. 16And they put awayH5493 the foreign godsH430 from among them, and servedH5647 Jehovah; and his soulH5315 was grieved for the misery of IsraelH3478.

17Then the children of AmmonH5983 were gatheredH622 together, and encampedH2583 in GileadH1568. And the children of IsraelH3478 assembled themselves together, and encampedH2583 in MizpahH4709. 18And the peopleH5971, the princesH8269 of GileadH1568, saidH559 oneH376 to another, What manH376 is he that will beginH2490 to fightH3898 against the children of AmmonH5983? he shall beH1961 headH7218 over all the inhabitantsH3427 of GileadH1568.
