Judges 17

American Standard Version

1And there was a manH376 of the hill-country of EphraimH669, whose nameH8034 was Micah. 2And he saidH559 unto his motherH517, The eleven hundredH3967 pieces of silverH3701 that were takenH3947 from thee, about which thou didst utter a curse, and didst alsoH1571 speak it in mine earsH241, behold, the silverH3701 is with me; I tookH3947 it. And his motherH517 saidH559, BlessedH1288 be my sonH1121 of Jehovah. 3And he restoredH7725 the eleven hundredH3967 pieces of silverH3701 to his motherH517; and his motherH517 saidH559, I verily dedicate the silverH3701 unto Jehovah from my handH3027 for my sonH1121, to makeH6213 a graven imageH6459 and a molten imageH6459: nowH6258 thereforeH6258 I will restoreH7725 it unto thee. 4And when he restoredH7725 the moneyH3701 unto his motherH517, his motherH517 tookH3947 two hundredH3967 pieces of silverH3701, and gaveH5414 them to the founder, who madeH6213 thereof a graven imageH6459 and a molten imageH6459: and it wasH1961 in the houseH1004 of Micah. 5And the manH376 MicahH4318 had a houseH1004 of godsH430, and he madeH6213 an ephodH646, and teraphimH8655, and consecrated oneH259 of his sonsH1121, who becameH1961 his priestH3548. 6In those daysH3117 there was no kingH4428 in IsraelH3478: every manH376 did that which was rightH3477 in his own eyesH5869.

7And there wasH1961 a youngH5288 manH5288 out of Beth-lehem-judah, of the familyH4940 of JudahH3063, who wasH1961 a LeviteH3881; and he sojourned there. 8And the manH376 departed out of the cityH5892, out of Beth-lehem-judah, to sojourn whereH834 he could findH4672 a place, and he cameH935 to the hill-country of EphraimH669 to the houseH1004 of MicahH4318, as he journeyed. 9And MicahH4318 saidH559 unto him, Whence comest thou? And he saidH559 unto him, I am a LeviteH3881 of Beth-lehem-judah, and I goH1980 to sojourn whereH834 I may findH4672 a place. 10And MicahH4318 saidH559 unto him, DwellH3427 with me, and beH1961 unto me a fatherH1 and a priestH3548, and I will giveH5414 thee tenH6235 pieces of silverH3701 by the year, and a suit of apparel, and thy victuals. So the LeviteH3881 went in. 11And the LeviteH3881 wasH1961 content to dwellH3427 with the manH376; and the youngH5288 manH376 wasH1961 unto him as oneH259 of his sonsH1121. 12And MicahH4318 consecrated the LeviteH3881, and the youngH5288 manH5288 becameH1961 his priestH3548, and wasH1961 in the houseH1004 of MicahH4318. 13Then saidH559 MicahH4318, NowH6258 knowH3045 I that Jehovah will do me goodH3190, seeing I have a LeviteH3881 to my priestH3548.
