5 For when G3753 we were G1510 in the flesh σαρκί, sarki G4561 , the sinful passions παθήματα pathēmata G3804 , which were G1510 through the law νόμου nomou G3551 , wrought in our members μέλεσιν melesin G3196 to bring forth fruit καρποφορῆσαι karpophorēsai G2592 unto death θανάτῳ· thanatō G2288 . 6 But now G1161 we have been discharged from the law νόμου nomou G3551 , having died G599 to that wherein we were held; so that we serve δουλεύειν douleuein G1398 in newness καινότητι kainotēti G2538 of the spirit πνεύματος pneumatos G4151 , and not in oldness of the letter γράμματος.¶ grammatos G1121 . 7 What shall we say ἔλεγεν· elegen G3004 then οὖν oun G3767 ? Is the law νόμος nomos G3551 sin ἁμαρτία; hamartia G266 ? God forbid. God forbid. But sin ἁμαρτία, hamartia G266 , that it might be shown to be sin ἁμαρτία, hamartia G266 , by working death θάνατον, thanaton G2288 to me through that which is good ἀγαθοῦ agathou G18 ;— that through the commandment ἐντολῆς.¶ entolēs G1785 sin ἁμαρτία hamartia G266 might become G1096 exceeding sinful ἁμαρτωλὸς hamartōlos G268 . 14 For we know that the law νόμος nomos G3551 is G1510 spiritual πνευματικός pneumatikos G4152 : but I am G1510 carnal, sold under sin ἁμαρτίαν. hamartian G266 . 15 For that which I do I know G1097 not : for not what I would G2309 , that do I practise; but what I hate μισῶ misō G3404 , that I do . 16 But if what I would G2309 not , that I do , I consent unto the law νόμῳ nomō G3551 that it is good καλός· kalos G2570 . 17 So now δὲ de G1161 it is no more I that do it , but sin ἁμαρτία. hamartia G266 which dwelleth in me . 19 For the good ἀγαθόν, agathon G18 which I would G2309 I do not : but the evil κακὸν kakon G2556 which I would G2309 not , that I practise. 20 But if what I would not , that I do , it is no more I that do it , but sin ἁμαρτία. hamartia G266 which dwelleth in me . 22 For I delight in the law νόμῳ nomō G3551 of God θεοῦ theou G2316 after the inward man ἄνθρωπον, anthrōpon G444 : 23 but I see βλέπω blepō G991 a different G2087 law νόμον nomon G3551 in my members μέλεσίν melesin G3196 , warring against the law νόμῳ nomō G3551 of my mind νοός noos G3563 , and bringing me into captivity under the law νόμῳ nomō G3551 of sin ἁμαρτίας hamartias G266 which is G1510 in my members μέλεσίν melesin G3196 . 24 Wretched ταλαίπωρος talaipōros G5005 man ἄνθρωπος· anthrōpos G444 that I am ! who shall deliver ῥύσεται rhusetai G4506 me out of the body σώματος sōmatos G4983 of this death θανάτου thanatou G2288 ?
