Romans 9:24-33
24namely us, whomG3739 He alsoG2532 1calledG2564, 2not onlyG3440 from amongG1537 JewsG2453, but alsoG2532 from amongG1537 GentilesG1484, 25as He alsoG2532 saysG3004 in HoseaG5617: “3I will callG2564 thoseG3588 who were not My peopleG2992, ‘My peopleG2992,’ And her who was not belovedG25, ‘belovedG25.’”26“4And it shall be that in the placeG5117 whereG3757 it was saidG3004 to them, ‘you are not My peopleG2992,’ ThereG1563 they shall be calledG2564 sonsG5207 of 5the livingG2198 GodG2316.”
27IsaiahG2268 criesG2896 outG2896 concerningG5228 IsraelG2474, “6ThoughG1437 the numberG706 of the sonsG5207 of IsraelG2474 may be 7likeG5613 the sandG285 of the seaG2281, only 8the remnantG5275 will be savedG4982; 289for the LordG2962 will executeG4160 His wordG3056 on the earthG1093, 10thoroughlyG4931 and 11quicklyG4932.” 29And justG2531 asG2531 IsaiahG2268 foretoldG4275: “12IfG1487 13the LordG2962 14of armiesG4519 had not leftG1459 us 1516descendantsG4690, 17We would have becomeG1096 likeG5613 SodomG4670, and would have 18beenG3666 likeG3666 GomorrahG1116.”
3019WhatG5101 shall we sayG3004 thenG3767? That GentilesG1484, who did not pursueG1377 righteousnessG1343, attainedG2638 righteousnessG1343, but 20the righteousnessG1343 that is 21by faithG4102; 31howeverG1161, IsraelG2474, 22pursuingG1377 a lawG3551 of righteousnessG1343, did not 23arriveG5348 at that lawG3551. 32WhyG1223G5101? BecauseG3754 they did not pursue it 24by faithG4102, but asG5613 thoughG5613 they could 25by worksG2041. They stumbledG4350 overG4350 26the stumblingG4348 stoneG3037, 33justG2531 asG2531 it is writtenG1125: “27BeholdG2400, I am layingG5087 in ZionG4622 28a stoneG3037 of stumblingG4348 and a rockG4073 of offenseG4625, 29And the one who believesG4100 in Him 30will not be 31putG2617 toG2617 shameG2617.”
