4“Comeעֲלֽוּ־'a.lu-H5927upH5927to me and helpוְעִזְרֻ֔נִיve.'iz.Ru.niH5826me, and let’sattackוְנַכֶּ֖הve.na.KehH5221Gibeonגִּבְע֑וֹןgiv.'onH1391, for it hasmadeH7999peaceהִשְׁלִ֥ימָהhish.Li.mahH7999with Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091and with the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.”

5So the fiveחֲמֵ֣שֶׁת׀cha.Me.shetH2568kingsמַלְכֵ֣יmal.KheiH4428ofthe Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֗יha.'e.mo.RiH567,the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֜םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Hebronחֶבְר֤וֹןchev.RonH2275,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Jarmuthיַרְמוּת֙yar.MutH3412,the kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Lachishלָכִ֣ישׁla.KhishH3923, andthe kingמֶֽלֶךְ־Me.lekh-H4428of Eglonעֶגְל֔וֹןeg.LonH5700,gatheredוַיֵּאָסְפ֨וּvai.ye.'a.se.FuH622together and wentH5927upH5927,they with allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605their armiesמַֽחֲנֵיהֶ֑םma.cha.nei.HemH4264,and campedוַֽיַּחֲנוּ֙vai.ya.cha.NuH2583by Gibeonגִּבְע֔וֹןgiv.'onH1391and foughtוַיִּֽלָּחֲמ֖וּvai.yi.la.cha.MuH3898againstH5921it.

6Then the menH376of Gibeonגִבְע֨וֹןgiv.'onH1391sentוַיִּשְׁלְח֣וּvai.yish.le.ChuH7971wordto Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֤עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091at the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶה֙ha.ma.cha.NehH4264at Gilgalהַגִּלְגָּ֣לָהha.gil.Ga.lahH1537,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Do notabandonתֶּ֥רֶף יָדֶ֖יךָTe.ref ya.Dei.khaH7503 H3027 H4480your servantsמֵֽעֲבָדֶ֑יךָme.'a.va.Dei.khaH5650;comeעֲלֵ֧ה'a.LehH5927upH5927to us quicklyמְהֵרָ֗הme.he.RahH4120and saveוְהוֹשִׁ֤יעָהve.ho.Shi.'ahH3467us and helpוְעָזְרֵ֔נוּve.'a.ze.Re.nuH5826us, for allכָּל־kol-H3605the kingsמַלְכֵ֥יmal.KheiH4428of the Amoritesהָאֱמֹרִ֖יha.'e.mo.RiH567that liveיֹשְׁבֵ֥יyo.she.VeiH3427in the hillהָהָֽר׃ha.HarH2022countryH2022have assembledנִקְבְּצ֣וּnik.be.TzuH6908againstH413us.”

7So Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091wentH5927upH5927from Gilgalהַגִּלְגָּ֗לha.gil.GalH1537, he andallוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleעַ֤ם'amH5971of warהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421with him, and allוְכֹ֖לve.KholH3605the valiantהֶחָֽיִל׃ פhe.Cha.yilH2428warriorsגִּבּוֹרֵ֥יgi.bo.ReiH1368.

8And the Lordיְהוָ֤הYah.wehH3068saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091, “Do not fearתִּירָ֣אti.Ra'H3372them, for I have handedבְיָדְךָ֖ve.ya.de.KhaH5414 H3027them overH5414to you; notoneאִ֛ישׁ'ishH376of them will standיַעֲמֹ֥דya.'a.ModH5975againstבְּפָנֶֽיךָ׃be.fa.Nei.khaH6440you.”

9So Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091cameוַיָּבֹ֧אvai.ya.Vo'H935upon them suddenlyפִּתְאֹ֑םpit.'OmH6597by marchingעָלָ֖ה'a.LahH5927allכָּל־kol-H3605nightהַלַּ֕יְלָהha.Lay.lahH3915from Gilgalהַגִּלְגָּֽל׃ha.gil.GalH1537.

10And the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068broughtH2000them intoH2000confusionH2000beforeלִפְנֵ֣יlif.NeiH6440Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and He struckH5221them downH5221in a greatגְדוֹלָ֖הge.do.LahH1419defeatמַכָּֽה־ma.kah-H4347at Gibeonבְּגִבְע֑וֹןbe.giv.'onH1391,and pursuedוַֽיִּרְדְּפֵ֗םvai.yir.de.FemH7291them by the wayדֶּ֚רֶךְDe.rekhH1870of the ascentמַעֲלֵ֣הma.'a.LehH4608to Beth-horonH1032and struckH5221them as farH5704as Azekahעֲזֵקָ֖ה'a.ze.KahH5825and Makkedahמַקֵּדָֽה׃ma.ke.DahH4719.

11And as they fledבְּנֻסָ֣ם׀be.nu.SamH5127from Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, whilethey were at the descentבְּמוֹרַ֤דbe.mo.RadH4174of Beth-horonH1032,the Lordוַֽיהוָ֡הva.Yah.wehH3068hurledהִשְׁלִ֣יךְhish.LikhH7993largeגְּדֹל֧וֹתge.do.LotH1419stonesאֲבָנִ֨ים'a.va.NimH68from heavenהַשָּׁמַ֛יִםha.sha.Ma.yimH8064on them as farעַד־'ad-H5704as Azekahעֲזֵקָ֖ה'a.ze.KahH5825,and they diedוַיָּמֻ֑תוּvai.ya.Mu.tuH4191; there weremoreרַבִּ֗יםra.BimH7227whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834diedמֵ֙תוּ֙me.tuH4191from the hailstonesבְּאַבְנֵ֣י הַבָּרָ֔דbe.'av.Nei ha.ba.RadH1259 H68thanמִן־min-H4480those whomמֵאֲשֶׁ֥רme.'a.SherH834the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478killedהָרְג֛וּha.re.GuH2026with the swordבֶּחָֽרֶב׃ סbe.Cha.revH2719.

12Thenאָ֣ז'azH227Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַ֙ye.ho.shu.a'H3091spokeיְדַבֵּ֤רye.da.BerH1696to the Lordלַֽיהוָ֔הla.Yah.wehH3068on the dayבְּי֗וֹםbe.YomH3117when the Lordיְהוָה֙Yah.wehH3068turnedH5414the Amoritesהָ֣אֱמֹרִ֔יha.'e.mo.RiH567overH5414to the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and he saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶר׀vai.Yo.merH559in the sightלְעֵינֵ֣יle.'ei.NeiH5869of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478, “Sunשֶׁ֚מֶשׁShe.meshH8121,standH1826stillדּ֔וֹםDomH1826at Gibeonבְּגִבְע֣וֹןbe.giv.'onH1391,And moonוְיָרֵ֖חַve.ya.Re.achH3394,at the Valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Aijalonאַיָּלֽוֹן׃'ai.ya.LonH357!”

13So the sunהַשֶּׁ֜מֶשׁha.She.meshH8121stoodH1826stillוַיִּדֹּ֨םvai.yi.DomH1826,and the moonוְיָרֵ֣חַve.ya.Re.achH3394stoppedעָמָ֗ד'a.MadH5975,Untilעַד־'ad-H5704the nationגּוֹי֙goyH1471avengedיִקֹּ֥םyi.KomH5358themselves of their enemiesH340.Is it not writtenכְתוּבָ֖הkhe.tu.VahH3789inthe Bookסֵ֣פֶרSe.ferH5612of Jasharהַיָּשָׁ֑רhai.ya.SharH3477? 14There was noוְלֹ֨אve.Lo'H3808dayכַּיּ֤וֹםkai.YomH3117like that beforeלְפָנָ֣יוle.fa.NavH6440it or afterוְאַחֲרָ֔יוve.'a.cha.RavH310it, when the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068listenedלִשְׁמֹ֥עַlish.Mo.a'H8085to the voiceבְּק֣וֹלbe.KolH6963of a manאִ֑ישׁ'IshH376; forthe Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068foughtנִלְחָ֖םnil.ChamH3898for Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ פle.Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

15Then Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֣לYis.ra.'ElH3478with him returnedוַיָּ֤שָׁבvai.Ya.shovH7725to the campהַֽמַּחֲנֶ֖הha.ma.cha.NehH4264at Gilgalהַגִּלְגָּֽלָה׃ha.gil.Ga.lahH1537.

16Now theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428fiveחֲמֵ֖שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428had fledוַיָּנֻ֕סוּvai.ya.Nu.suH5127and hiddenוַיֵּחָבְא֥וּvai.ye.cha.ve.'UH2244themselves in the caveבַמְּעָרָ֖הva.me.'a.RahH4631at Makkedahבְּמַקֵּדָֽה׃be.ma.ke.DahH4719.

17And it was toldוַיֻּגַּ֖דvai.yu.GadH5046to Joshuaלִיהוֹשֻׁ֣עַli.ho.Shu.a'H3091,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “The fiveחֲמֵ֣שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֔יםha.me.la.KhimH4428have been foundנִמְצְאוּ֙nim.tze.'UH4672hiddenנֶחְבְּאִ֥יםnech.be.'ImH2244in the caveבַּמְּעָרָ֖הba.me.'a.RahH4631at Makkedahבְּמַקֵּדָֽה׃be.ma.ke.DahH4719.”

18So Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Rollגֹּ֛לּוּGo.luH1556largeגְּדֹל֖וֹתge.do.LotH1419stonesאֲבָנִ֥ים'a.va.NimH68againstאֶל־'el-H413the mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631,and postוְהַפְקִ֧ידוּve.haf.Ki.duH6485menH376by it to guardלְשָׁמְרָֽם׃le.sha.me.RamH8104them,

19but do not stayתַּעֲמֹ֔דוּta.'a.Mo.duH5975thereyourselvesH864;pursueרִדְפוּ֙rid.FuH7291your enemiesH340andattackH2179them fromH2179behindH2179.Do not allowH5414them to enterלָבוֹא֙la.Vo'H935their citiesעָ֣רֵיהֶ֔ם'a.rei.HemH5892,for the Lordיְהוָ֥הYah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֵיכֶ֖ם'e.lo.hei.KhemH430has handedבְּיֶדְכֶֽם׃be.yed.KhemH3027 H5414them overH5414to you.”

20It cameH1961aboutH1961when Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091and the sonsוּבְנֵ֣יu.ve.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478had finishedכְּכַלּ֨וֹתke.kha.LotH3615strikingH5221them downלְהַכּוֹתָ֛םle.ha.ko.TamH5221in a veryמְאֹ֖דme.'OdH3966greatגְדוֹלָֽה־ge.do.lah-H1419defeatמַכָּ֥הma.KahH4347,untilעַד־'ad-H5704they were destroyedתֻּמָּ֑םtu.MamH8552,and the survivorsוְהַשְּׂרִידִים֙ve.ha.se.ri.DimH8300of them whoescapedשָׂרְד֣וּsa.re.DuH8277had enteredוַיָּבֹ֖אוּvai.ya.Vo.'uH935the fortifiedהַמִּבְצָֽר׃ha.miv.TzarH4013citiesעָרֵ֥י'a.ReiH5892,

22Then Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֔עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Openפִּתְח֖וּpit.ChuH6605the mouthפִּ֣יpiH6310of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631and bringוְהוֹצִ֣יאוּve.ho.Tzi.'uH3318theseהָאֵ֖לֶּהha.'E.lehH428fiveחֲמֵ֛שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֥יםha.me.la.KhimH4428outH3318to me from the caveהַמְּעָרָֽה׃ha.me.'a.RahH4631.”

23They didוַיַּ֣עֲשׂוּvai.Ya.'a.suH6213soכֵ֔ןKhenH3651, andbroughtH3318theseהָאֵ֖לֶּהha.'E.lehH428fiveחֲמֵ֛שֶׁתcha.Me.shetH2568kingsהַמְּלָכִ֥יםha.me.la.KhimH4428outH3318to him from the caveהַמְּעָרָ֑הha.me.'a.RahH4631:the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֗םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,the kingמֶ֤לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Hebronחֶבְרוֹן֙chev.rOnH2275,the kingמֶ֣לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Jarmuthיַרְמ֔וּתyar.MutH3412,the kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Lachishלָכִ֖ישׁla.KhishH3923, andthe kingמֶ֥לֶךְMe.lekhH4428of Eglonעֶגְלֽוֹן׃eg.LonH5700.

24When they broughtH3318theseהָאֵלֶּה֮ha.'e.LehH428kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428outH3318to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁעַ֒ye.ho.shu.a'H3091,Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֜עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091calledוַיִּקְרָ֨אvai.yik.Ra'H7121for allכָּל־kol-H3605the menאִ֣ישׁ'ishH376of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֗לYis.ra.'ElH3478,and saidוַ֠יֹּאמֶרVai.yo.merH559to the leadersקְצִינֵ֞יke.tzi.NeiH7101of the menH376of warהַמִּלְחָמָה֙ha.mil.cha.MahH4421who had goneהֶהָלְכ֣וּאhe.ha.le.Khu'H1980with him, “ComeH7126forwardH7126,putשִׂ֚ימוּSi.muH7760your feetרַגְלֵיכֶ֔םrag.lei.KhemH7272on the necksצַוְּארֵ֖יtza.ve.ReiH6677of theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428kingsהַמְּלָכִ֣יםha.me.la.KhimH4428.”So they cameH7126forwardH7126and putוַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּvai.ya.Si.muH7760their feetרַגְלֵיהֶ֖םrag.lei.HemH7272on their necksצַוְּארֵיהֶֽם׃tza.ve.rei.HemH6677.
