2Now when Hezekiahיְחִזְקִיָּ֔הוּye.chiz.ki.Ya.huH2396sawוַיַּרְא֙vai.yaR'H7200that Sennacheribסַנְחֵרִ֑יבsan.che.RivH5576had comeבָ֖אva'H935and thathe intendedוּפָנָ֕יוu.fa.NavH6440to wagewarלַמִּלְחָמָ֖הla.mil.cha.MahH4421against Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃ye.ru.sha.LimH3389,

3he decidedוַיִּוָּעַ֗ץvai.yi.va.'AtzH3289with his officersשָׂרָיו֙sa.RavH8269and his warriorsוְגִבֹּרָ֔יוve.gi.bo.RavH1368to cutH5640offH5640the supply ofwaterמֵימֵ֣יmei.MeiH4325from the springsH5871whichאֲשֶׁ֖ר'a.SherH834wereoutsideמִח֣וּץmi.ChutzH4480 H2351the cityלָעִ֑ירla.'IrH5892,and they helpedוַֽיַּעְזְרֽוּהוּ׃Vai.ya'.ze.Ru.huH5826him.

4So manyרָ֔בRavH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971assembledוַיִּקָּבְצ֣וּvai.yi.ka.ve.TzuH6908and stoppedH5640upH5640allכָּל־kol-H3605the springsהַמַּעְיָנ֔וֹתha.ma'.ya.NotH4599andthe streamהַנַּ֛חַלha.Na.chalH5158which flowedהַשּׁוֹטֵ֥ףha.sho.TefH7857throughבְּתוֹךְ־be.tokh-H8432the regionהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Whyלָ֤מָּהLa.mahH4100should the kingsמַלְכֵ֣יmal.KheiH4428of Assyriaאַשּׁ֔וּר'a.ShurH804comeיָב֙וֹאוּ֙ya.Vo.'uH935and findוּמָצְא֖וּu.ma.tze.'UH4672abundantרַבִּֽים׃ra.BimH7227waterמַ֥יִםMa.yimH4325?”

6He appointedוַיִּתֵּ֛ןvai.yi.TenH5414militaryמִלְחָמ֖וֹתmil.cha.MotH4421officersשָׂרֵ֥יsa.ReiH8269overעַל־'al-H5921the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971and gatheredוַיִּקְבְּצֵ֣םvai.yik.be.TzemH6908them to him in the publicH7339squareH7339at the cityהָעִ֔ירha.'IrH5892gateשַׁ֣עַרSha.'arH8179, andspokeוַיְדַבֵּ֥רvay.da.BerH1696encouraginglyעַל־ לְבָבָ֖ם'al- le.va.VamH5921 H3824to them, sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,
