Jeremiah 13:1-15
1ThusH3541 the LordH3068 saidH559 to me, “GoH1980 and 1buyH7069 yourself a linenH6593 waistbandH232 and putH7760 it aroundH5921 your waistH4975, but do not putH935 it in waterH4325.” 2So I boughtH7069 the waistbandH232 in accordance with the 2wordH1697 of the LordH3068 and putH7760 it aroundH5921 my waistH4975. 3Then the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me a secondH8145 timeH8145, sayingH559, 4“TakeH3947 the waistbandH232 that you have boughtH7069, whichH834 is aroundH5921 your waistH4975, and ariseH6965, goH1980 to 3the 4EuphratesH6578 and hideH2934 it thereH8033 in a creviceH5357 of the rockH5553.” 5So I wentH1980 and hidH2934 it by the EuphratesH6578, 5as the LordH3068 had commandedH6680 me. 6AfterH4480 manyH7227 daysH3117 the LordH3068 saidH559 to me, “AriseH6965, goH1980 to the EuphratesH6578 and takeH3947 from thereH8033 the waistbandH232 whichH834 I commandedH6680 you to hideH2934 thereH8033.” 7Then I wentH1980 to the EuphratesH6578 and dugH2658, and I tookH3947 the waistbandH232 from the placeH4725 whereH834H8033 I had hiddenH2934 it; and loH2009, the waistbandH232 was ruinedH7843, it was totallyH3605 worthlessH3808H6743.
8Then the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me, sayingH559, 9“ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, ‘JustH3602 soH3602 will I destroyH7843 the 6prideH1347 of JudahH3063 and the greatH7227 prideH1347 of JerusalemH3389. 10ThisH2088 wickedH7451 peopleH5971, whoH3987 7refuseH3987 to listenH8085 to My wordsH1697, who 8walkH1980 in the stubbornnessH8307 of their heartsH3820 and have goneH1980 afterH310 otherH312 godsH430 to serveH5647 them and to bowH7812 downH7812 to them, let them be just like thisH2088 waistbandH232 whichH834 is totallyH3605 worthlessH3808H6743. 11For as the waistbandH232 clingsH1692 to the waistH4975 of a manH376, soH3651 I made the wholeH3605 householdH1004 of IsraelH3478 and the wholeH3605 householdH1004 of JudahH3063 9clingH1692 to Me,’ declaresH5002 the LordH3068, ‘that they might be for Me a peopleH5971, for 1011renownH8034, for 12praiseH8416 and for gloryH8597; but they 13did not listenH8085.’
12“Therefore you are to speakH559 thisH2088 wordH1697 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, “EveryH3605 jugH5035 is to be filledH4390 with wineH3196.”’ And when they sayH559 to you, ‘Do we not veryH3045 wellH3045 knowH3045 that everyH3605 jugH5035 is to be filledH4390 with wineH3196?’ 13then sayH559 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “BeholdH2009 I am about to fillH4390 allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of thisH2088 landH776--the kingsH4428 that sitH3427 for DavidH1732 on his throneH3678, the priestsH3548, the prophetsH5030 and allH3605 the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389--with 14drunkennessH7943! 14I will 15dashH5310 them againstH413 eachH376 otherH251, both the 16fathersH1 and the sonsH1121 togetherH3164,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068. “I will 17not showH2550 pityH2550 norH3808 be sorryH2347 norH3808 haveH7355 compassionH7355 so as not to destroyH7843 them.”’”
15ListenH8085 and giveH238 heedH238, do not be 18haughtyH1361, For the LordH3068 has spokenH1696.
