New American Standard Bible 1995
Vision of the Man with a Measuring Rod
1In the 1twenty-fifthH6242H2568 yearH8141 of our exileH1546, at the beginningH7218 of the yearH8141, on the tenthH6218 of the monthH2320, in the fourteenthH702H6240 yearH8141 afterH310 the 2cityH5892 was 3takenH5221, on that sameH6106 dayH3117 the 4handH3027 of the LordH3068 was upon me and He broughtH935 me thereH8033. 2In the 5visionsH4759 of GodH430 He broughtH935 me into the landH776 of IsraelH3478 and setH5117 me on a veryH3966 6highH1364 mountainH2022, and on it 7to the southH5045 there was a 8structureH4011 like a cityH5892. 3So He broughtH935 me thereH8033; and beholdH2009, there was a manH376 whose appearanceH4758 was like the appearanceH4758 of 9bronzeH5178, with a 10lineH6616 of flaxH6593 and a 11measuringH4060 12rodH7070 in his handH3027; and he was standingH5975 in the gatewayH8179. 4The manH376 saidH1696 to me, “13SonH1121 of manH120, 14seeH7200 with your eyesH5869, hearH8085 with your earsH241, and giveH7760 attentionH3820 to allH3605 that I am going to showH7200 you; for you have been broughtH935 hereH2008 in orderH4616 to showH7200 it to you. 15DeclareH5046 to the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 allH3605 that you seeH7200.”
Measurements Relating to the Temple
5And beholdH2009, there was a 16wallH2346 on the outsideH2351 of the 17templeH1004 allH5439 aroundH5439, and in the man’sH376 handH3027 was a measuringH4060 rodH7070 of sixH8337 cubitsH520, each of which was a cubitH520 and a 18handbreadthH2948. So he measuredH4058 the thicknessH7341 of the 19wallH2346, oneH259 rodH7070; and the heightH6967, oneH259 rodH7070. 6Then he wentH935 to the gateH8179 whichH834 facedH6440 20eastH6921, wentH5927 up its stepsH4609 and measuredH4058 the thresholdH5592 of the gateH8179, oneH259 rodH7070 21in widthH7341; and the otherH259 thresholdH5592 was oneH259 rodH7070 22in widthH7341. 7The 23guardroomH8372 was oneH259 rodH7070 longH753 and oneH259 rodH7070 wideH7341; and there were fiveH2568 cubitsH520 betweenH996 the guardroomsH8372. And the thresholdH5592 of the gateH8179 by the porchH197 of the gateH8179 24facingH4480 inwardH1004 was oneH259 rodH7070. 8Then he measuredH4058 the porchH197 of the gateH8179 25facingH4480 inwardH1004, oneH259 rodH7070. 9He measuredH4058 the porchH197 of the gateH8179, eightH8083 cubitsH520; and its sideH352 pillarsH352, twoH8147 cubitsH520. And the porchH197 of the gateH8179 was 26facedH1004 inwardH1004. 10The guardroomsH8372 of the gateH8179 towardH1870 the eastH6921 numbered threeH7969 on eachH6311 sideH6311; the threeH7969 of them had the sameH259 measurementH4060. The sideH352 pillarsH352 also had the sameH259 measurementH4060 on eachH6311 sideH6311. 11And he measuredH4058 the widthH7341 of the 27gatewayH6607H8179, tenH6235 cubitsH520, and the lengthH753 of the gateH8179, thirteenH7969H6240 cubitsH520. 12There was a 28barrierH1366 wall oneH259 cubitH520 wide in frontH6440 of the guardroomsH8372 on eachH6311 sideH6311; and the guardroomsH8372 were sixH8337 cubitsH520 square on eachH6311 sideH6311. 13He measuredH4058 the gateH8179 from the roofH1406 of the one guardroomH8372 to the roofH1406 of the other, a widthH7341 of twenty-fiveH6242H2568 cubitsH520 from one doorH6607 to the doorH6607 oppositeH5048. 14He madeH6213 the sideH352 pillarsH352 sixtyH8346 cubitsH520 high; the gateH8179 extended roundH5439 aboutH5439 to the sideH352 pillarH352 of the 29courtyardH2691. 15From the frontH6440 of the entranceH382 gateH8179 to the frontH6440 of the innerH6442 porchH197 of the gateH8179 was fiftyH2572 cubitsH520. 16There were 3031shutteredH331 windowsH2474 looking towardH413 the guardroomsH8372, and towardH413 their sideH352 pillarsH352 withinH6441 the gateH8179 allH5439 aroundH5439, and likewiseH3651 for the porchesH361. And there were windowsH2474 allH5439 aroundH5439 insideH6441; and on each sideH352 pillarH352 were 32palmH8561 treeH8561 ornamentsH8561.
17Then he broughtH935 me into the 33outerH2435 courtH2691, and beholdH2009, there were 34chambersH3957 and a pavementH7531 madeH6213 for the courtH2691 allH5439 aroundH5439; thirtyH7970 chambersH3957 35facedH413 the pavementH7531. 18The pavementH7531 (that is, the lowerH8481 pavementH7531) was by the 36sideH3802 of the gatesH8179, correspondingH5980 to the lengthH753 of the gatesH8179. 19Then he measuredH4058 the widthH7341 from the frontH6440 of the 37lowerH8481 gateH8179 to the frontH6440 of the exteriorH2351 of the innerH6442 courtH2691, a 38hundredH3967 cubitsH520 on the eastH6921 and on the northH6828.
20As for the 39gateH8179 of the outerH2435 courtH2691 whichH834 facedH6440 the northH6828, he measuredH4058 its lengthH753 and its widthH7341. 2140It had threeH7969 41guardroomsH8372 on eachH6311 sideH6311; and its 42sideH352 pillarsH352 and its porchesH361 43hadH1961 the same measurementH4060 as the firstH7223 gateH8179. Its lengthH753 was 44fiftyH2572 cubitsH520 and the widthH7341 45twenty-fiveH6242H2568 cubitsH520. 22Its 46windowsH2474 and its porchesH361 and its palmH8561 treeH8561 ornamentsH8561 had the same measurementsH4060 as the 47gateH8179 whichH834 facedH6440 towardH1870 the eastH6921; and 48it was reachedH5927 by sevenH7651 49stepsH4609, and its 50porchH361 was in frontH6440 of them. 23The innerH6442 courtH2691 had a gateH8179 oppositeH5048 the gateH8179 on the northH6828 as well as the gate on the eastH6921; and he measuredH4058 a 51hundredH3967 cubitsH520 from gateH8179 to gateH8179.
24Then he ledH1980 me towardH1870 the southH1864, and beholdH2009, there was a 52gateH8179 towardH1870 the southH1864; and he measuredH4058 its 53sideH352 pillarsH352 and its porchesH361 according to 54thoseH428 same measurementsH4060. 2555The gate and its porchesH361 had 56windowsH2474 allH5439 aroundH5439 like 57thoseH428 other windowsH2474; the lengthH753 was 58fiftyH2572 cubitsH520 and the widthH7341 twenty-fiveH6242H2568 cubitsH520. 26There were sevenH7651 59stepsH4609 goingH5927 up to it, and its porchesH361 were in frontH6440 of them; and it had 60palmH8561 treeH8561 ornamentsH8561 on its sideH352 pillarsH352, oneH259 on eachH6311 sideH6311. 27The innerH6442 courtH2691 had a gateH8179 towardH1870 the 61southH1864; and he measuredH4058 from gateH8179 to gateH8179 towardH1870 the southH1864, a 62hundredH3967 cubitsH520.
28Then he broughtH935 me to the innerH6442 courtH2691 by the southH1864 gateH8179; and he measuredH4058 the southH1864 gateH8179 63according to thoseH428 same measurementsH4060. 29Its 64guardroomsH8372 also, its sideH352 pillarsH352 and its 65porchesH361 were according to thoseH428 same measurementsH4060. And 66the gate and its porchesH361 had 67windowsH2474 allH5439 aroundH5439; it was 68fiftyH2572 cubitsH520 longH753 and twenty-fiveH6242H2568 cubitsH520 wideH7341. 30There were 69porchesH361 allH5439 aroundH5439, twenty-fiveH6242H2568 cubitsH520 longH753 and fiveH2568 cubitsH520 wideH7341. 31Its porchesH361 were towardH413 the outerH2435 courtH2691; and 70palmH8561 treeH8561 ornamentsH8561 were on its sideH352 pillarsH352, and its stairwayH4608 had eightH8083 71stepsH4609.
32He broughtH935 me into the 72innerH6442 courtH2691 towardH1870 the eastH6921. And he measuredH4058 the gateH8179 73according to thoseH428 same measurementsH4060. 33Its 74guardroomsH8372 also, its sideH352 pillarsH352 and its porchesH361 were according to thoseH428 same measurementsH4060. And 75the gate and its porchesH361 had 76windowsH2474 allH5439 aroundH5439; it was 77fiftyH2572 cubitsH520 longH753 and twenty-fiveH6242H2568 cubitsH520 wideH7341. 34Its 78porchesH361 were toward the outerH2435 courtH2691; and 79palmH8561 treeH8561 ornamentsH8561 were on its sideH352 pillarsH352, on eachH6311 sideH6311, and its stairwayH4608 had eightH8083 80stepsH4609.
35Then he broughtH935 me to the 81northH6828 gateH8179; and he measuredH4058 it according to thoseH428 same measurementsH4060, 36with its 82guardroomsH8372, its sideH352 pillarsH352 and its 83porchesH361. And 84the gate had 85windowsH2474 allH5439 aroundH5439; the lengthH753 was 86fiftyH2572 cubitsH520 and the widthH7341 twenty-fiveH6242H2568 cubitsH520. 37Its sideH352 pillarsH352 were toward the outerH2435 courtH2691; and 87palmH8561 treeH8561 ornamentsH8561 were on its sideH352 pillarsH352 on eachH6311 sideH6311, and its stairwayH4608 had eightH8083 88stepsH4609.
38A 89chamberH3957 with its doorwayH6607 was by the sideH352 pillarsH352 at the gatesH8179; thereH8033 they 90rinseH1740 the burntH5930 offeringH5930. 39In the porchH197 of the gateH8179 were twoH8147 91tablesH7979 on eachH6311 sideH6311, on which to slaughterH7819 the 92burntH5930 offeringH5930, the sinH2403 offeringH2403 and the guiltH817 offeringH817. 40On the outerH2351 93sideH3802, 94as one wentH5927 up to the 95gatewayH6607H8179 toward the northH6828, were twoH8147 tablesH7979; and on the otherH312 96sideH3802 of the porchH197 of the gateH8179 were twoH8147 tablesH7979. 41FourH702 97tablesH7979 were on eachH6311 sideH6311 98nextH3802 to the gateH8179; or, eightH8083 tablesH7979 on which they slaughterH7819 sacrifices. 42For the burntH5930 offeringH5930 there were fourH702 99tablesH7979 of 100hewnH1496 stoneH68, a cubitH520 and a halfH2677 longH753, a cubitH520 and a halfH2677 wideH7341 and oneH259 cubitH520 highH1363, on which they layH5117 the instrumentsH3627 with whichH834 they slaughterH7819 the 101burntH5930 offeringH5930 and the sacrificeH2077. 43The doubleH8240 102hooksH8240, oneH259 handbreadthH2948 in length, were installedH3559 103in the houseH1004 allH5439 aroundH5439; and on the tablesH7979 was the fleshH1320 of the offeringH7133.
44From the outsideH2351 to the 104innerH6442 gateH8179 were 105106chambersH3957 for the 107singersH7891 in the innerH6442 courtH2691, one of whichH834 was at the 108sideH3802 of the northH6828 gateH8179, with 109its frontH6440 towardH1870 the southH1864, and oneH259 at the 110sideH3802 of the 111south gateH8179 facingH6440 towardH1870 the northH6828. 45He saidH1696 to me, “ThisH2090 is the 112chamberH3957 whichH834 facesH6440 towardH1870 the southH1864, intended for the priestsH3548 who 113keepH8104 chargeH4931 of the 114templeH1004; 46but the 115chamberH3957 whichH834 facesH6440 towardH1870 the northH6828 is for the priestsH3548 who 116keepH8104 chargeH4931 of the altarH4196. TheseH1992 are the 117sonsH1121 of ZadokH6659, who from the sonsH1121 of LeviH3878 118comeH7131 nearH7131 to the LordH3068 to ministerH8334 to Him.” 47He measuredH4058 the courtH2691, a perfect squareH7251, a 119hundredH3967 cubitsH520 longH753 and a hundredH3967 cubitsH520 wideH7341; and the altarH4196 was in frontH6440 of the 120templeH1004.
48Then he broughtH935 me to the 121porchH197 of the 122templeH1004 and measuredH4058 each sideH352 pillarH352 of the porchH197, fiveH2568 cubitsH520 on eachH6311 sideH6311; and the widthH7341 of the gateH8179 was threeH7969 cubitsH520 on eachH6311 sideH6311. 49The lengthH753 of the porchH197 was twentyH6242 cubitsH520 and the widthH7341 elevenH6249H6240 cubitsH520; and at the 123stairwayH4609 by whichH834 it was ascendedH5927 were 124columnsH5982 belonging to the sideH352 pillarsH352, oneH259 on eachH6311 sideH6311.
