Ezekiel Prepares for Exile
1Then the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me, sayingH559, 2“SonH1121 of manH120, you liveH3427 in the 1midstH8432 of the 2rebelliousH4805 houseH1004, whoH834 3have eyesH5869 to seeH7200 but do not seeH7200, earsH241 to hearH8085 but do not hearH8085; for they are a rebelliousH4805 houseH1004. 3Therefore, sonH1121 of manH120, prepareH6213 for yourself baggageH3627 for exileH1473 and goH1540 into exileH1540 by dayH3119 in their sightH5869; even goH1540 into exileH1540 from your placeH4725 to anotherH312 placeH4725 in their sightH5869. 4PerhapsH194 they will 5understandH7200 thoughH3588 they are a rebelliousH4805 houseH1004. 4BringH3318 your baggageH3627 out by dayH3119 in their sightH5869, as baggageH3627 for exileH1473. Then you will goH3318 out 6at eveningH6153 in their sightH5869, as those goingH4161 into exileH1473. 5DigH2864 a hole through the wallH7023 in their sightH5869 and 7goH3318 out through it. 6LoadH5375 the baggage on your shoulderH3802 in their sightH5869 and carryH3318 it out in the darkH5939. You shall 8coverH3680 your faceH6440 so that you cannotH3808 seeH7200 the landH776, for I have setH5414 you as a 9signH4159 to the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478.”
7I 10didH6213 soH3651, as I had been commandedH6680. By dayH3119 I 11broughtH3318 out my baggageH3627 like the baggageH3627 of an exileH1473. Then in the eveningH6153 I dugH2864 through the wallH7023 with my handsH3027; I wentH3318 out in the darkH5939 and carriedH5375 the baggage on my shoulderH3802 in their sightH5869.
8In the morningH1242 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me, sayingH559, 9“SonH1121 of manH120, has not the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478, the 12rebelliousH4805 houseH1004, saidH559 to you, ‘13WhatH4100 are you doingH6213?’ 10SayH559 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 14GodH3068, “ThisH2088 1516burdenH4853 concerns the princeH5387 in JerusalemH3389 as well as allH3605 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 whoH834 are 17in it.”’ 11SayH559, ‘I am 18a 19signH4159 to you. As I have doneH6213, soH3651 it will be doneH6213 to them; they will 20goH1980 into exileH1473, into captivityH7628.’ 12The 21princeH5387 whoH834 is amongH8432 them will loadH5375 his baggage on his shoulderH3802 in the darkH5939 and goH3318 out. 22They will digH2864 a hole through the wallH7023 to bringH3318 it out. He will coverH3680 his faceH6440 soH3282H834 that he can not seeH7200 the landH776 with his eyesH5869. 13I will also spreadH6566 My 23netH7568 overH5921 him, and he will be caughtH8610 in My snareH4686. And I will bringH935 him to BabylonH894 in the landH776 of the ChaldeansH3778; yet he will 24not seeH7200 it, though he will dieH4191 thereH8033. 14I will 25scatterH2219 to everyH3605 windH7307 allH3605 whoH834 are aroundH5439 him, his helpersH5828 and allH3605 his troopsH102; and I will drawH7385 out a swordH2719 afterH310 them. 15So they will 26knowH3045 that I am the LordH3068 when I scatterH6327 them among the nationsH1471 and spreadH2219 them among the countriesH776. 16But I will 27spareH3498 a fewH4557 of them from the 28swordH2719, the famineH7458 and the pestilenceH1698 that they may tellH5608 allH3605 their abominationsH8441 among the nationsH1471 whereH834H8033 they goH935, and 29may 30knowH3045 that I am the LordH3068.”
17Moreover, the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me sayingH559, 18“SonH1121 of manH120, 31eatH398 your breadH3899 with tremblingH7494 and drinkH8354 your waterH4325 with quiveringH7269 and anxietyH1674. 19Then sayH559 to the peopleH5971 of the landH776, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 GodH3068 concerning the inhabitantsH3427 of JerusalemH3389 in the landH127 of IsraelH3478, “They will eatH398 their breadH3899 with anxietyH1674 and drinkH8354 their waterH4325 with horrorH8078, becauseH4616 32their landH776 will be 3334strippedH3456 of its fullnessH4393 on accountH6440 of the violenceH2555 of allH3605 who liveH3427 in it. 20The inhabitedH3427 35citiesH5892 will be laidH2717 wasteH2717 and the 36landH776 will be a desolationH8077. So you will knowH3045 that I am the LordH3068.”’”
21Then the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me, sayingH559, 22“SonH1121 of manH120, whatH4100 is thisH2088 37proverbH4912 you people have concerningH5921 the landH127 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, ‘The 38daysH3117 are longH748 and everyH3605 39visionH2377 failsH6’? 23ThereforeH3651 sayH559 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 GodH3068, “I will make thisH2088 proverbH4912 ceaseH7673 so that they will noH3808 longerH5750 useH4911 it as a proverbH4911 in IsraelH3478.” But tellH1696 them, “40The daysH3117 drawH7126 nearH7126 as well as the 41fulfillmentH1697 of everyH3605 visionH2377. 24For there will noH3808 longerH5750 be anyH3605 4243falseH7723 visionH2377 or flatteringH2509 divinationH4738 withinH8432 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478. 25For I the LordH3068 will speakH1696, and whateverH834 44wordH1697 I speakH1696 will be performedH6213. It will noH3808 longerH5750 be delayedH4900, for in 45your daysH3117, O 46rebelliousH4805 houseH1004, I will speakH1696 the wordH1697 and performH6213 it,” declaresH5002 the LordH136 GodH3068.’”
26Furthermore, the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to me, sayingH559, 27“SonH1121 of manH120, beholdH2009, the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478 is sayingH559, ‘The visionH2377 that he seesH2372 is for 47manyH7227 48yearsH3117 from now, and he prophesiesH5012 of timesH6256 farH7350 offH7350.’ 28ThereforeH3651 sayH559 to them, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 GodH3068, “NoneH3808H3605 of My wordsH1697 will be delayedH4900 anyH5750 longerH5750. WhateverH3605H834 wordH1697 I speakH1696 will be performedH6213,”’” declaresH5002 the LordH136 GodH3068.
