Jerusalem’s Desolation Foretold
1“As for you, sonH1121 of manH120, takeH3947 a 1sharpH2299 swordH2719; takeH3947 and 2useH5674 it as a barber’sH1532 razorH8593 on your headH7218 and beardH2206. Then takeH3947 3scalesH3976 for weighingH4948 and divideH2505 4the hair. 2OneH7992 thirdH7992 you shall burnH1197 in the fireH217 at the centerH8432 of the cityH5892, when the 5daysH3117 of the siegeH4692 are completedH4390. Then you shall takeH3947 oneH7992 thirdH7992 and strikeH5221 it with the swordH2719 allH5439 aroundH5439 6the city, and oneH7992 thirdH7992 you shall scatterH2219 to the windH7307; and I will 7unsheatheH7385 a swordH2719 behindH310 them. 3TakeH3947 also a fewH4592 in numberH4557 from 8them and bindH6696 them in the edgesH3671 of your robes. 4TakeH3947 againH5750 someH4480 of them and throwH7993 them into the fireH784 and burnH8313 them in the fireH784; from it a fireH784 will 9spreadH3318 to allH3605 the houseH1004 of IsraelH3478.
5“ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 10GodH3068, ‘ThisH2088 is 11JerusalemH3389; I have setH7760 her at the 12centerH8432 of the nationsH1471, with landsH776 aroundH5439 her. 6But she has rebelledH4784 againstH854 My ordinancesH4941 moreH4480 wickedlyH7564 thanH4480 the nationsH1471 and againstH854 My statutesH2708 13moreH4480 thanH4480 the landsH776 whichH834 surroundH5439 her; for they have 14rejectedH3988 My ordinancesH4941 and have not walkedH1980 15in My statutesH2708.’ 7ThereforeH3651, thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 GodH3068, ‘BecauseH3282 you have 16moreH4480 turmoilH2001 thanH4480 the nationsH1471 whichH834 surroundH5439 you and have not walkedH1980 in My statutesH2708, norH3808 observedH6213 My ordinancesH4941, norH3808 observedH6213 the ordinancesH4941 of the nationsH1471 whichH834 surroundH5439 you,’ 8thereforeH3651, thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH136 GodH3068, ‘BeholdH2009, I, evenH1571 I, am 17againstH5921 you, and I will 18executeH6213 judgmentsH4941 amongH8432 you in the sightH5869 of the nationsH1471. 9And becauseH3282 of allH3605 your abominationsH8441, I will doH6213 among you whatH834 I have 19not doneH6213, and the likeH3644 of whichH834 I will neverH3808 doH6213 againH5750. 10ThereforeH3651, 20fathersH1 will eatH398 their sonsH1121 amongH8432 you, and sonsH1121 will eatH398 their fathersH1; for I will executeH6213 judgmentsH8201 on you and 21scatterH2219 allH3605 your remnantH7611 to everyH3605 windH7307. 11SoH3651 as I liveH2416,’ declaresH5002 the LordH136 GodH3068, ‘surelyH518H3808, becauseH3282 you have 22defiledH2930 My sanctuaryH4720 with allH3605 your 23detestableH8251 idolsH8251 and with allH3605 your abominationsH8441, therefore I will alsoH1571 withdrawH1639, and My eyeH5869 will haveH2347 noH3808 pityH2347 and I will not spareH2550. 12OneH7992 thirdH7992 of you will dieH4191 by 24plagueH1698 or be consumedH3615 by famineH7458 amongH8432 you, oneH7992 thirdH7992 will fallH5307 by the swordH2719 aroundH5439 you, and oneH7992 thirdH7992 I will 25scatterH2219 to everyH3605 windH7307, and I will 26unsheatheH7385 a swordH2719 behindH310 them.
13‘Thus My angerH639 will be spentH3615 and I will 27satisfyH5117 My wrathH2534 on them, and I will be 2829appeasedH5162; then they will knowH3045 that I, the LordH3068, have 30spokenH1696 in My zealH7068 when I have spentH3615 My wrathH2534 upon them. 14Moreover, I will makeH5414 you a desolationH2723 and a 31reproachH2781 among the nationsH1471 whichH834 surroundH5439 you, in the sightH5869 of allH3605 who passH5674 by. 15So 32it will be a reproachH2781, a revilingH1422, a 33warningH4148 and an objectH4923 of horrorH4923 to the nationsH1471 whoH834 surroundH5439 you when I 34executeH6213 judgmentsH8201 against you in angerH639, wrathH2534 and ragingH2534 rebukesH8433. I, the LordH3068, have spokenH1696. 16When I sendH7971 against them the 35deadlyH7451 arrowsH2671 of famineH7458 whichH834 36were for the destructionH7843 of those whomH834 I will sendH7971 to destroyH7843 you, then I will also intensifyH3254 the famineH7458 upon you and breakH7665 the staffH4294 of breadH3899. 17Moreover, 37I will sendH7971 on you famineH7458 and wildH7451 beastsH2421, and they will bereaveH7921 you of childrenH7921; 38plagueH1698 and bloodshedH1818 also will passH5674 through you, and I will bringH935 the swordH2719 on you. I, the LordH3068, have spokenH1696.’”
