Hezekiah’s Illness and Recovery

11In thoseH1992 daysH3117 HezekiahH2396 becameH2470 2mortallyH4191 illH2470. And IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 the sonH1121 of AmozH531 cameH935 to him and saidH559 to him, “ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, ‘3SetH6680 your houseH1004 in orderH6680, for you shall dieH4191 and not liveH2421.’” 2Then he turnedH5437 his faceH6440 to the wallH7023 and prayedH6419 to the LordH3068, sayingH559, 3“4RememberH2142 nowH4994, OH577 LordH3068, I beseechH577 You, 5howH834 I have walkedH1980 beforeH6440 You in truthH571 and with a wholeH8003 heartH3824 and have doneH6213 whatH2896 is goodH2896 in Your sightH5869.” And 6HezekiahH2396 weptH1058 7bitterlyH1419H1065. 4BeforeH3808 IsaiahH3470 had goneH3318 out of the middleH8484 courtH2691, the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to him, sayingH559, 5“ReturnH7725 and sayH559 to 8HezekiahH2396 the leaderH5057 of My peopleH5971, ‘ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of your fatherH1 DavidH1732, “9I have heardH8085 your prayerH8605, 10I have seenH7200 your tearsH1832; beholdH2009, I will healH7495 you. On the thirdH7992 dayH3117 you shall goH5927 up to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068. 6I will addH3254 fifteenH2568H6240 yearsH8141 to your 11lifeH3117, and I will deliverH5337 you and thisH2088 cityH5892 from the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804; and 12I will defendH1598 thisH2088 cityH5892 for My own sakeH4616 and for My servantH5650 David’sH1732 sakeH4616.”’” 7Then IsaiahH3470 saidH559, “TakeH3947 a cakeH1690 of figsH8384.” And they tookH3947 and laidH7760 it on the boilH7822, and he recoveredH2421.

8Now HezekiahH2396 saidH559 to IsaiahH3470, “WhatH4100 will be the signH226 that the LordH3068 will healH7495 me, and that I shall goH5927 up to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 the thirdH7992 dayH3117?” 9IsaiahH3470 saidH559, “13ThisH2088 shall be the signH226 to you from the LordH3068, that the LordH3068 will doH6213 the thingH1697 that He has spokenH1696: shall the shadowH6738 goH1980 forward tenH6235 stepsH4609 orH518 goH7725 backH7725 tenH6235 stepsH4609?” 10So HezekiahH2396 14answeredH559, “It is easyH7043 for the shadowH6738 to declineH5186 tenH6235 stepsH4609; noH3808, but let the shadowH6738 turnH7725 backwardH322 tenH6235 stepsH4609.” 11IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 criedH7121 to the LordH3068, and 15He broughtH7725 the shadowH6738 on the 16stairwayH4609 backH322 tenH6235 stepsH4609 by whichH834 it had goneH3381 downH3381 on the 17stairwayH4609 of AhazH271.

Hezekiah Shows Babylon His Treasures

1218At that timeH6256 19Berodach-baladanH1255 a sonH1121 of BaladanH1081, kingH4428 of BabylonH894, sentH7971 lettersH5612 and a presentH4503 to HezekiahH2396, for he heardH8085 that HezekiahH2396 had beenH2470 sickH2470. 13HezekiahH2396 listenedH8085 to them, and showedH7200 them 20allH3605 his treasureH5238 houseH1004, the silverH3701 and the goldH2091 and the spicesH1314 and the preciousH2896 oilH8081 and the houseH1004 of his armorH3627 and allH3605 that was foundH4672 in his treasuriesH214. There was nothingH3808H1697 in his houseH1004 norH3808 in allH3605 his dominionH4475 that HezekiahH2396 did not showH7200 them. 14Then IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 cameH935 to KingH4428 HezekiahH2396 and saidH559 to him, “WhatH4100 did theseH428 menH376 sayH559, and from whereH370 have they comeH935 to you?” And HezekiahH2396 saidH559, “They have comeH935 from a farH7350 countryH776, from BabylonH894.” 15He saidH559, “WhatH4100 have they seenH7200 in your houseH1004?” So HezekiahH2396 21answeredH559, “They have seenH7200 allH3605 that is in my houseH1004; there is nothingH3808H1697 among my treasuriesH214 that I have not shownH7200 them.”

16Then IsaiahH3470 saidH559 to HezekiahH2396, “HearH8085 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068. 17‘BeholdH2009, the daysH3117 are comingH935 when 22allH3605 that is in your houseH1004, and all that your fathersH1 have laidH686 up in storeH686 to thisH2088 dayH3117 will be carriedH5375 to BabylonH894; nothingH3808H1697 shall be leftH3498,’ saysH559 the LordH3068. 18‘SomeH4480 23of your sonsH1121 whoH834 shall issueH3318 from you, whomH834 you will begetH3205, will be takenH3947 away; and they will becomeH1961 24officialsH5631 in the palaceH1964 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894.’” 19Then HezekiahH2396 saidH559 to IsaiahH3470, “The wordH1697 of the LordH3068 whichH834 you have spokenH1696 is 25goodH2896.” For he 26thoughtH559, “Is it not so, ifH518 there will be peaceH7965 and truthH571 in my daysH3117?”

2027Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of HezekiahH2396 and allH3605 his mightH1369, and howH834 he 28madeH6213 the poolH1295 and the conduitH8585 and broughtH935 waterH4325 into the cityH5892, are they not writtenH3789 in the BookH5612 of the ChroniclesH1697H3117 of the KingsH4428 of JudahH3063? 2129So HezekiahH2396 sleptH7901 with his fathersH1, and ManassehH4519 his sonH1121 becameH4427 kingH4427 in his placeH8478.
