Hezekiah’s Illness and Recovery
11In thoseH1992 daysH3117 HezekiahH2396 becameH2470 2mortallyH4191 illH2470. And IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030, the sonH1121 of AmozH531, cameH935 to him and saidH559 to him, “ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068 saysH559: ‘3SetH6680 your houseH1004 inH6680 orderH6680, for you are going to dieH4191 and not liveH2421.’” 2Then he turnedH5437 his faceH6440 to the wallH7023 and prayedH6419 to the LordH3068, sayingH559, 3“PleaseH577, LordH3068, justH4994 4rememberH2142 5howH834 I have walkedH1980 beforeH6440 You wholeheartedlyH8003H3824 and in truthH571, and have doneH6213 whatH2896 isH2896 goodH2896 in Your sightH5869!” And 6HezekiahH2396 weptH1058 7profuselyH1419H1065. 4And even beforeH3808 IsaiahH3470 had leftH3318 the middleH8484 courtyardH2691, the wordH1697 of the LordH3068 cameH1961 to him, sayingH559, 5“ReturnH7725 and sayH559 to 8HezekiahH2396 the leaderH5057 of My peopleH5971, ‘ThisH3541 isH3541 whatH3541 the LordH3068, the GodH430 of your fatherH1 DavidH1732 saysH559: “9I have heardH8085 your prayerH8605, 10I have seenH7200 your tearsH1832; beholdH2009, I am going to healH7495 you. On the thirdH7992 dayH3117 you shall goH5927 upH5927 to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068. 6And I will addH3254 fifteenH2568H6240 yearsH8141 to your 11lifeH3117, and I will saveH5337 you and thisH2088 cityH5892 from the handH3709 of the kingH4428 of AssyriaH804; and 12I will protectH1598 thisH2088 cityH5892 for My own sakeH4616 and for My servantH5650 David’sH1732 sakeH4616.”’” 7Then IsaiahH3470 saidH559, “TakeH3947 a cakeH1690 of figsH8384.” And they tookH3947 it and placedH7760 it on the inflamedH7822 spotH7822, and he recoveredH2421.
8Now HezekiahH2396 saidH559 to IsaiahH3470, “WhatH4100 will be the signH226 that the LordH3068 will healH7495 me, and that I will goH5927 upH5927 to the houseH1004 of the LordH3068 on the thirdH7992 dayH3117?” 9IsaiahH3470 saidH559, “13ThisH2088 shall be the signH226 to you from the LordH3068, that the LordH3068 will performH6213 the wordH1697 that He has spokenH1696: shall the shadowH6738 goH1980 forward tenH6235 stepsH4609 orH518 goH7725 backH7725 tenH6235 stepsH4609?” 10So HezekiahH2396 saidH559, “It isH7043 easyH7043 for the shadowH6738 to declineH5186 tenH6235 stepsH4609; noH3808, but have the shadowH6738 turnH7725 backwardH322 tenH6235 stepsH4609.” 11Then IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 calledH7121 outH7121 to the LordH3068, and 14He broughtH7725 the shadowH6738 on the 15stairwayH4609 backH322 tenH6235 stepsH4609 by whichH834 it had goneH3381 downH3381 on the 16stairwayH4609 of AhazH271.
Hezekiah Shows Babylon His Treasures
1217At that timeH6256 18Berodach-baladanH1255, a sonH1121 of BaladanH1081, kingH4428 of BabylonH894, sentH7971 lettersH5612 and a giftH4503 to HezekiahH2396, becauseH3588 he heardH8085 that HezekiahH2396 had beenH2470 sickH2470. 13And HezekiahH2396 listenedH8085 to 19them, and showedH7200 them 20allH3605 his treasureH5238 houseH1004, the silverH3701, the goldH2091, the balsamH1314 oilH1314, the 21scentedH2896 oilH8081, the houseH1004 of his armorH3627, and everythingH3605 that was foundH4672 in his treasuriesH214. There was nothingH3808H1697 in his houseH1004 norH3808 in allH3605 his realmH4475 that HezekiahH2396 did not showH7200 them. 14Then IsaiahH3470 the prophetH5030 cameH935 to KingH4428 HezekiahH2396 and saidH559 to him, “WhatH4100 did theseH428 menH376 sayH559, and from whereH370 have they comeH935 to you?” And HezekiahH2396 saidH559, “They have comeH935 from a farH7350 countryH776, from BabylonH894.” 15Isaiah saidH559, “WhatH4100 have they seenH7200 in your houseH1004?” So HezekiahH2396 22answeredH559, “They have seenH7200 everythingH3605 that is in my houseH1004; there is nothingH3808H1697 among my treasuriesH214 that I have not shownH7200 them.”
16Then IsaiahH3470 saidH559 to HezekiahH2396, “HearH8085 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068: 17‘BeholdH2009, the daysH3117 are comingH935 when 23everythingH3605 that is in your houseH1004, and whatH834 your fathersH1 have storedH686 up to thisH2088 dayH3117, will be carriedH5375 to BabylonH894; nothingH3808H1697 will be leftH3498,’ saysH559 the LordH3068. 18‘And someH4480 24of your sonsH1121 whoH834 will comeH3318 from you, whomH834 you will fatherH3205, will be takenH3947 away; and they will becomeH1961 25officialsH5631 in the palaceH1964 of the kingH4428 of BabylonH894.’” 19Then HezekiahH2396 saidH559 to IsaiahH3470, “The wordH1697 of the LordH3068 whichH834 you have spokenH1696 is 26goodH2896.” For he 27thoughtH559, “Is it not good, ifH518 there will be peaceH7965 and 28securityH571 in my daysH3117?”
2029Now the restH3499 of the actsH1697 of HezekiahH2396 and allH3605 his mightH1369, and howH834 he 30constructedH6213 the poolH1295 and the conduitH8585 and broughtH935 waterH4325 into the cityH5892, are they not writtenH3789 in the BookH5612 of the ChroniclesH1697H3117 of the KingsH4428 of JudahH3063? 2131So HezekiahH2396 32layH7901 downH7901 with his fathersH1, and his sonH1121 ManassehH4519 becameH4427 kingH4427 inH8478 his placeH8478.
