27Thus they toldוַיְסַפְּרוּ־vay.sa.pe.ru-H5608him, and saidוַיֹּ֣אמְר֔וּvai.Yo.me.RuH559, “We wentבָּ֕אנוּBa.nuH935in to the landהָאָ֖רֶץha.'A.retzH776whereאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834you sentשְׁלַחְתָּ֑נוּshe.lach.Ta.nuH7971us; andit certainlyוְ֠גַםVe.gamH1571does flowזָבַ֨תza.VatH2100with milkחָלָ֥בcha.LavH2461and honeyוּדְבַ֛שׁu.de.VashH1706, andthisוְזֶה־ve.zeh-H2088is its fruitפִּרְיָֽהּ׃pir.YahH6529.

28Neverthelessאֶ֚פֶס כִּֽי־'E.fes ki-H657 H3588,the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971who liveהַיֹּשֵׁ֖בhai.yo.ShevH3427in the landבָּאָ֑רֶץba.'A.retzH776are strongעַ֣ז'azH5794,and the citiesוְהֶֽעָרִ֗יםve.he.'a.RimH5892are fortifiedבְּצֻר֤וֹתbe.tzu.RotH1219andveryמְאֹ֔דme.'OdH3966largeגְּדֹלֹת֙ge.do.LotH1419;and moreoverוְגַם־ve.gam-H1571,we sawרָאִ֥ינוּra.'I.nuH7200thedescendantsיְלִדֵ֥יye.li.DeiH3211of Anakהָֽעֲנָ֖קha.'a.NakH6061thereשָֽׁם׃ShamH8033.

29Amalekעֲמָלֵ֥ק'a.ma.LekH6002is livingיוֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427in the landבְּאֶ֣רֶץbe.'E.retzH776ofthe Negevהַנֶּ֑גֶבha.Ne.gevH5045and the Hittitesוְ֠הַֽחִתִּיVe.ha.chi.tiH2850and the Jebusitesוְהַיְבוּסִ֤יve.hay.vu.SiH2983andthe Amoritesוְהָֽאֱמֹרִי֙ve.ha.'e.mo.RiH567are livingיוֹשֵׁ֣בyo.ShevH3427in the hillבָּהָ֔רba.HarH2022countryH2022, andthe Canaanitesוְהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ve.ha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669are livingיֹשֵׁ֣בyo.ShevH3427by the seaהַיָּ֔םhai.YamH3220and by the sideיַ֥דyadH3027of the Jordanהַיַּרְדֵּֽן׃hai.yar.DenH3383.”

30Then Calebכָּלֵ֛בka.LevH3612quietedוַיַּ֧הַסvai.Ya.hasH2013the peopleהָעָ֖םha.'AmH5971beforeאֶל־'el-H413Mosesמֹשֶׁ֑הmo.ShehH4872and saidוַיֹּ֗אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “We should by allH5927meansH5927goH5927up and takeוְיָרַ֣שְׁנוּve.ya.Rash.nuH3423possessionH3423of it, for we will surelyיָכ֥וֹלya.KholH3201overcomeנוּכַ֖לnu.KhalH3201it.”

31But the menH376whoאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834had goneעָל֤וּ'a.LuH5927up with him saidאָֽמְר֔וּ'a.me.RuH559, “We are not ableנוּכַ֖לnu.KhalH3201to goלַעֲל֣וֹתla.'a.LotH5927up againstאֶל־'el-H413the peopleהָעָ֑םha.'AmH5971,for they are tooמִמֶּֽנּוּ׃mi.Me.nuH4480strongחָזָ֥קcha.ZakH2389for us.”

32So they gaveוַיּוֹצִ֜יאוּvai.yo.Tzi.'uH3318out to the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478a badדִּבַּ֤תdi.BatH1681reportH1681of the landהָאָ֙רֶץ֙ha.'A.retzH776whichאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834they had spiedתָּר֣וּta.RuH8446out, sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “The landהָאָ֡רֶץha.'A.retzH776throughH5674whichאֲשֶׁר֩'a.SherH834we have goneH5674,in spyingלָת֣וּרla.TurH8446it out, isa landאֶ֣רֶץ'E.retzH776that devoursאֹכֶ֤לֶת'o.Khe.letH398itsinhabitantsיוֹשְׁבֶ֙יהָ֙yo.she.Vei.haH3427; andallוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834we sawרָאִ֥ינוּra.'I.nuH7200in it are menH376of greatsizeמִדּֽוֹת׃mi.DotH4060.

33Thereוְשָׁ֣םve.ShamH8033also we sawרָאִ֗ינוּra.'I.nuH7200theNephilimהַנְּפִילִ֛יםha.ne.fi.LimH5303(the sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of Anakעֲנָ֖ק'a.NakH6061are part of the Nephilimהַנְּפִלִ֑יםha.ne.fi.LimH5303); andwe becameH1961like grasshoppersכַּֽחֲגָבִ֔יםka.cha.ga.VimH2284in our own sightבְעֵינֵ֙ינוּ֙ve.'ei.Nei.nuH5869,and soוְכֵ֥ןve.KhenH3651we were in their sightבְּעֵינֵיהֶֽם׃be.'ei.nei.HemH5869.”
