38And JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424turnedΣτραφεὶςStrapheisG4762and sawθεασάμενοςtheasamenosG2300them followingἀκολουθοῦνταςakolouthountasG190,and saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them,“WhatτίtiG5101do you seekζητεῖτε;zēteiteG2212?”They saidλέγεταιlegetaiG3004to Him, “Rabbiῥαββί,rhabbiG4461(whichὃhoG3739translatedμεθερμηνευόμενονmethermēneuomenonG3177meansG3004Teacherδιδάσκαλε,didaskaleG1320),whereποῦpouG4226are You stayingμένεις;meneisG3306?”
39He saidλέγειlegeiG3004to them,“ComeἔρχεσθεerchestheG2064,and you will seeG3708.”SoοὖνounG3767they cameἦλθανēlthanG2064and sawG3708whereποῦpouG4226He was stayingμένει,meneiG3306;and they stayedἔμεινανemeinanG3306with Him that dayἡμέρανhēmeranG2250,for it was aboutὡςhōsG5613thetenthδεκάτη.dekatēG1182hourὥραhōraG5610.
41He foundΕὑρίσκειHeuriskeiG2147firstπρῶτονprōtonG4413his ownἴδιονidionG2398brotherἀδελφὸνadelphonG80SimonΣίμωναSimōnaG4613and saidλέγειlegeiG3004to him, “We have foundεὑρήκαμενheurēkamenG2147theMessiahΜεσσίαν,MessianG3323” (whichὅhoG3739translatedμεθερμηνευόμενονmethermēneuomenonG3177meansἐστινestinG1510Christχριστός.christosG5547).
42He broughtἤγαγενēgagenG71him to JesusἸησοῦν.IēsounG2424.JesusἸησοῦςIēsousG2424lookedἐμβλέψαςemblepsasG1689at him and saidG3004,“You are SimonΣίμωνSimōnG4613the sonυἱὸςhuiosG5207ofJohnἸωάννου·IōannouG2491G2495;you shall be calledκληθήσῃklēthēsēG2564CephasΚηφᾶς,KēphasG2786” (whichὃhoG3739is translatedἑρμηνεύεταιhermēneuetaiG2059PeterΠέτρος.¶PetrosG4074).
