Esther 9:20-32
20And MordecaiH4782 wroteH3789 these thingsH1697, and sentH7971 lettersH5612 to all the JewsH3064 near and farH7350 that were in all the provincesH4082 of kingH4428 AhasuerusH325, 21to establishH6965 [this] among them, that they should keep the fourteenth dayH3117 of the monthH2320 AdarH143, and the fifteenth dayH3117 of the same, yearly, 22as the daysH3117 on which the JewsH3064 restedH5117 from their enemiesH341, and the monthH2320 that was turnedH2015 to them from sorrowH3015 to joyH8057, and from mourningH60 into a goodH2896 dayH3117; that they should makeH6213 them daysH3117 of feastingH4960 and joyH8057, and of sendingH4916 portionsH4490 oneH376 to another, and giftsH4979 to the poor. 23And the JewsH3064 undertook to do as they had begunH2490, and as MordecaiH4782 had writtenH3789 to them. 24For HamanH2001 the sonH1121 of Hammedatha the AgagiteH91, the oppressor of all the JewsH3064, had devised against the JewsH3064 to destroyH6 them, and had castH5307 PurH6332, that is, the lotH1486, to consume them and to destroyH6 them; 25and whenH834 [Esther] cameH935 before the kingH4428, he commanded by lettersH5612 that his wickedH7451 device, which he had devised against the JewsH3064, should returnH7725 upon his own headH7218; and they hangedH8518 him and his sonsH1121 on the gallowsH6086. 26ThereforeH3651 they calledH7121 these daysH3117 PurimH6332 after the nameH8034 of PurH6332. ThereforeH3651, according to all the wordsH1697 of this letterH107, and for what they had seenH7200 concerning this matterH1697 and what had happened to them, 27the JewsH3064 ordained and took upon them, and upon their seedH2233, and upon all such as joined themselves to them, so that it should not fail, that they would observeH6213 these twoH8147 daysH3117 according to their writing and according to their fixed time, every yearH8141; 28and that these daysH3117 should be rememberedH2142 and observedH6213 throughout every generationH1755, in every familyH4940, every provinceH4082, and every cityH5892, and that these daysH3117 of PurimH6332 should not fail from among the JewsH3064, nor the memorial of them cease from among their seedH2233. 29And queenH4436 EstherH635 the daughterH1323 of AbihailH32, and MordecaiH4782 the JewH3064, wroteH3789 with all authority to confirm this secondH8145 letterH107 of PurimH6332. 30And he sentH7971 lettersH5612 to all the JewsH3064, to the hundredH3967 and twenty-seven provincesH4082 of the kingdomH4438 of AhasuerusH325, wordsH1697 of peaceH7965 and truthH571, 31to confirm these daysH3117 of PurimH6332 in their fixed times, according as MordecaiH4782 the JewH3064 and queenH4436 EstherH635 had enjoined them, and as they had decreed for themselves and for their seedH2233, as to the mattersH1697 of the fastings and their cryH2201. 32And the decree of EstherH635 confirmed these mattersH1697 of PurimH6332; and it was writtenH3789 in the bookH5612.
