Esther 6

Darby Bible

1On that nightH3915 sleepH8142 fledH5074 from the kingH4428. And he commanded to bringH935 the bookH5612 of records of the chronicles; and they wereH1961 readH7121 before the kingH4428. 2And it was foundH4672 writtenH3789, that MordecaiH4782 had toldH5046 of Bigthana and TereshH8657, twoH8147 of the king's chamberlains, keepersH8104 of the threshold, who had soughtH1245 to lay handH3027 on kingH4428 AhasuerusH325. 3And the kingH4428 saidH559, What honour and dignity has been done to MordecaiH4782 for this? And the king's servantsH5288 that attended upon him saidH559, Nothing has been done for him. 4And the kingH4428 saidH559, Who is in the courtH2691? Now HamanH2001 had comeH935 into the outward courtH2691 of the king's houseH1004, to speak to the kingH4428 to hangH8518 MordecaiH4782 on the gallowsH6086 that he had preparedH3559 for him. 5And the king's servantsH5288 saidH559 to him, Behold, HamanH2001 is standingH5975 in the courtH2691. And the kingH4428 saidH559, Let him comeH935 in. 6So HamanH2001 cameH935 in. And the kingH4428 saidH559 to him, What is to be done with the manH376 whom the kingH4428 delightsH2654 to honour? Now HamanH2001 thought in his heartH3820, To whom would the kingH4428 delightH2654 to do honour moreH4480 than to me? 7And HamanH2001 answered the kingH4428, For the manH376 whom the kingH4428 delightsH2654 to honour, 8let the royal apparel be broughtH935 with which the kingH4428 arrays himself, and the horseH5483 that the kingH4428 ridesH7392 upon, and on the headH7218 of which the royal crownH3804 is setH5414; 9and let the apparel and horseH5483 be delivered into the handH3027 of oneH376 of the king's most noble princesH8269, and let them array the manH376 whom the kingH4428 delightsH2654 to honour, and cause him to rideH7392 on the horseH5483 through the street of the cityH5892, and proclaimH7121 before him, ThusH3602 shall it be done to the manH376 whom the kingH4428 delightsH2654 to honour! 10And the kingH4428 saidH559 to HamanH2001, MakeH6213 hasteH4116, takeH3947 the apparel and the horseH5483, as thou hast saidH559, and do soH3651 to MordecaiH4782 the JewH3064, who sitsH3427 at the king's gateH8179: let nothing fail of all that thou hast saidH559. 11And HamanH2001 tookH3947 the apparel and the horseH5483, and arrayed MordecaiH4782, and caused him to rideH7392 through the street of the cityH5892, and proclaimedH7121 before him, ThusH3602 shall it be done to the manH376 whom the kingH4428 delightsH2654 to honour! 12And MordecaiH4782 came again to the king's gateH8179. But HamanH2001 hasted to his houseH1004, mourningH57 and having his headH7218 coveredH2645. 13And HamanH2001 recountedH5608 to ZereshH2238 his wifeH802 and to all his friendsH157 all that had befallen him. Then saidH559 his wiseH2450 men and ZereshH2238 his wifeH802 to him, If MordecaiH4782 be of the seedH2233 of the JewsH3064, before whom thou hast begunH2490 to fallH5307, thou shalt not prevailH3201 against him, but wilt certainly fallH5307 before him. 14While they were yetH5750 talking with him, the king's chamberlains cameH935, and hasted to bringH935 HamanH2001 to the banquet that EstherH635 had prepared.
