Numbers 17

1And the LORDH3068H413 said toH1696 MosesH4872H559, 2“SpeakH1696 toH413 the IsraelitesH1121H3478 and takeH3947 from themH854 twelveH8147H6240 staffsH4294, one from the leaderH5387 of eachH3605 tribeH1H1004. WriteH3789 eachH376 man’s nameH8034 onH5921 his staffH4294, 3andH853 writeH3789 Aaron’sH175 nameH8034 onH5921 the staffH4294 of LeviH3878, becauseH3588 there must be oneH259 staffH4294 for the headH7218 of each tribeH1H1004. 4PlaceH5117 the staffs in the TentH168 of MeetingH4150 in front ofH6440 the TestimonyH5715,1 whereH834 I meetH3259 with youH8033. 5The staffH4294 belonging to the manH376 I chooseH977 will sproutH6524, and I will ridH7918 MyselfH5921 of the constant grumblingH8519 of the IsraelitesH1121H3478 against youH5921.”

6So MosesH4872 spokeH1696 toH413 the IsraelitesH1121H3478, and eachH3605 of their leadersH5387 gave himH5414H413 aH259 staffH4294—oneH4294 for eachH259 of the leadersH5387 of their tribesH1H1004, twelveH8147H6240 staffs in allH4294. And Aaron’sH175 staffH4294 was amongH8432 them. 7Then MosesH4872 placedH5117 the staffsH4294 beforeH6440 the LORDH3068 in the TentH168 of the TestimonyH5715.

The next dayH4283 MosesH4872 enteredH935H413 the TentH168 of the TestimonyH5715 and sawH2009 that Aaron’sH175 staffH4294, representing the houseH1004 of LeviH3878, had sproutedH6524, put forthH3318 budsH6525, blossomedH6692H6731, and producedH1580 almondsH8247. 9Then MosesH4872 brought outH3318 allH3605 the staffsH4294 from the LORD’sH3068 presenceH6440 toH413 allH3605 the IsraelitesH1121H3478. They saw themH7200, and each manH376 tookH3947 his own staffH4294.

10The LORDH3068 saidH559 toH413 MosesH4872, “PutH7725 Aaron’sH175 staffH4294 back in front ofH6440 the TestimonyH5715, to be keptH4931 as a signH226 for the rebelliousH1121H4805, so that you may put an endH3615 to their grumblingH8519 against MeH5921, lestH3808 they dieH4191.” 11So MosesH4872 didH6213 asH834 the LORDH3068 had commanded himH6680.

12Then the IsraelitesH1121H3478 declaredH559 toH413 MosesH4872H559, “LookH2005, we are perishingH1478! We are lostH6; we are allH3605 lostH6! 13AnyoneH3605 who comes nearH7131H413 the tabernacleH4908 of the LORDH3068 will dieH4191H518. Are we allH8552 going to perishH1478?”
