Chronicles 21:8-19
In the days of JehoramH3117, EdomH123 rebelledH6586 againstH8478 the handH3027 of JudahH3063 and appointedH4427 their ownH5921 kingH4428. 9So JehoramH3088 crossedH5674 into EdomH5973 with his officersH8269 and allH3605 his chariotsH7393. When the EdomitesH123 surroundedH5437 himH413 andH853 his chariotH7393 commandersH8269H5973H1961, he rose upH6965 and attackedH52211 by nightH3915.
So toH5704 thisH2088 dayH3117 EdomH123 has been in rebellionH6586 againstH8478 the hand ofH3027 JudahH3063. LikewiseH227, LibnahH3841 rebelledH6586 againstH8478 his handH3027 at the sameH1931 timeH6256, becauseH3588 Jehoram had forsakenH5800 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of his fathersH1.
JehoramH1931 had alsoH1571 builtH6213 high placesH1116 on the hillsH2022 of JudahH3063; he had caused the peopleH3427 of JerusalemH3389 to prostitute themselvesH2181 and had led JudahH3063 astrayH5080.
Then a letterH4385 cameH935 toH413 Jehoram from ElijahH452 the prophetH5030, which statedH559:
“This is whatH3541 the LORDH3068, the GodH430 of your fatherH1 DavidH1732, saysH559:
‘You have notH3808 walkedH1980 in the waysH1870 of your fatherH1 JehoshaphatH3092 or of AsaH609 kingH4428 of JudahH3063, 13but you have walkedH1980 in the waysH1870 of the kingsH4428 of IsraelH3478 and have caused JudahH3063 and the peopleH3427 of JerusalemH3389 to prostitute themselvesH2181, just as the houseH1004 of AhabH256 prostituted itselfH2181. You have alsoH1571 killedH2026 your brothersH251, your father’sH1 familyH1004, who were betterH2896 than youH4480.
So beholdH2009, the LORDH3068 is about to strikeH5062 your peopleH5971, your sonsH1121, your wivesH802, and allH3605 your possessionsH7399 with a seriousH1419 blowH4046. 15And dayH3117 afterH5921 dayH3117 you yourselfH859 will suffer from a severeH7227 illnessH2483, a diseaseH4245 of your bowelsH4578, untilH5704 it causesH4480 your bowelsH4578 to come outH3318.’”
Then the LORDH3068 stirredH5782 againstH5921 JehoramH3088 the spiritH7307 of the PhilistinesH6430 and ArabsH6163 whoH834H5921 lived nearH3027 the CushitesH3569. 17So they went to warH5927 against JudahH3063, invaded itH1234, and carried offH7617 allH3605 the possessionsH7399 foundH4672 in the king’sH4428 palaceH1004, along withH1571 his sonsH1121 and wivesH802; notH3808 a sonH1121 was leftH7604 to him exceptH3588H518 JehoahazH3059,2 his youngestH6996.
AfterH310 allH3605 thisH2063, the LORDH3068 afflictedH5062 Jehoram with an incurableH369H4832 diseaseH2483 of the bowelsH4578. 19This continuedH1961 dayH3117 after dayH3117H6256 until twoH8147 full yearsH3117 had passedH3318. FinallyH7093, his intestinesH4578 came outH3318 because ofH5973 his diseaseH2483, and he diedH4191 in severeH7451 painH8463. And his peopleH5971 did notH3808 makeH6213 a fireH8316 in his honor as they had doneH8316 for his fathersH1.
