44Comeלְכָ֛הle.KhahH1980nowוְעַתָּ֗הve.'a.TahH6258,let us makeנִכְרְתָ֥הnikh.re.TahH3772a covenantבְרִ֖יתve.RitH1285,youוָאָ֑תָּהva.'A.tahH859and Iאֲנִ֣י'a.NiH589,and let it serve asוְהָיָ֥הve.ha.YahH1961a witnessלְעֵ֖דle.'EdH5707between you and meH996.”

45So Jacobיַעֲקֹ֖בya.'a.KoH3290picked outוַיִּקַּ֥חvai.yi.KachH3947a stoneאָ֑בֶן'A.venH68and set it upוַיְרִימֶ֖הָvay.ri.Me.haH7311as a pillarמַצֵּבָֽה׃ma.tze.VahH4676,

46andיַעֲקֹ֤בya.'a.KoH3290hesaidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his relativesלְאֶחָיו֙le.'e.ChavH251, “Gatherלִקְט֣וּlik.TuH3950somestonesאֲבָנִ֔ים'a.va.NimH68.”So they tookוַיִּקְח֥וּvai.yik.ChuH3947stonesאֲבָנִ֖ים'a.va.NimH68and madeוַיַּֽעֲשׂוּ־vai.ya.'a.su-H6213a moundגָ֑לGalH1530,and thereשָׁ֖םshamH8033byעַל־'al-H5921the moundהַגָּֽל׃ha.GalH1530they ateוַיֹּ֥אכְלוּvai.Yo.khe.luH398.

47Labanלָבָ֔ןla.VanH3837called itוַיִּקְרָא־vai.yik.ra'-H7121Jegar-sahaduthaH3026,and Jacobוְיַֽעֲקֹ֔בve.ya.'a.KoH3290called itקָ֥רָאKa.ra'H7121Galeedגַּלְעֵֽד׃gal.'EdH1567.

48Then Labanלָבָ֔ןla.VanH3837declaredוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Thisהַזֶּ֥הha.ZehH2088moundהַגַּ֨לha.GalH1530is a witnessעֵ֛ד'edH5707between youבֵּינִ֥יbei.NiH996and meוּבֵינְךָ֖u.vei.ne.KhaH996this dayהַיּ֑וֹםhai.YomH3117.”Thereforeעַל־ כֵּ֥ן'al- kenH5921 H3651the place was calledקָרָֽא־ שְׁמ֖וֹka.ra'- she.MoH7121 H8034Galeedגַּלְעֵֽד׃gal.'EdH1567.

49It wasalso called Mizpahוְהַמִּצְפָּה֙ve.ha.mitz.PahH4709,becauseאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834Labansaidאָמַ֔ר'a.MarH559, “May the LORDיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068keep watchיִ֥צֶףYi.tzefH6822between youבֵּינִ֣יbei.NiH996and meוּבֵינֶ֑ךָu.vei.Ne.khaH996whenכִּ֥יkiH3588we are absentנִסָּתֵ֖רni.sa.TerH5641from each otherאִ֥ישׁ מֵרֵעֵֽהוּ׃'ish me.re.'E.huH7453 H376.

50Ifאִם־'im-H518you mistreatתְּעַנֶּ֣הte.'a.NehH6031אֶת־'et-H853my daughtersבְּנֹתַ֗יbe.no.TaiH1323orוְאִם־ve.'im-H518takeתִּקַּ֤חti.KachH3947otherעַל־ בְּנֹתַ֔י'al- be.no.TaiH5921 H1323wivesנָשִׁים֙na.ShimH802,although noאֵ֥ין'einH369oneאִ֖ישׁ'ishH376is with usעִמָּ֑נוּ'i.Ma.nuH5973,rememberרְאֵ֕הre.'EhH7200that Godאֱלֹהִ֥ים'E.lo.HimH430is awitnessעֵ֖ד'edH5707between you and meH996.”

51Labanלָבָ֖ןla.VanH3837also saidוַיֹּ֥אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to Jacobלְיַעֲקֹ֑בle.ya.'a.KoH3290, “Here isהִנֵּ֣ה׀hi.NehH2009theהַזֶּ֗ה וְהִנֵּה֙ha.Zeh ve.hi.NehH2088 H2009moundהַגַּ֣לha.GalH1530,and here is the pillarהַמַצֵּבָ֔הha.ma.tze.VahH4676אֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834I have set upיָרִ֖יתִיya.Ri.tiH3384between you and meH996.

52Thisהַזֶּ֔הha.ZehH2088moundהַגַּ֣לha.GalH1530is a witnessעֵ֚ד'edH5707,and this pillarהַמַּצֵּבָ֑הha.ma.tze.VahH4676is a witnessוְעֵדָ֖הve.'e.DahH5713,thatאִם־'im-H518Iאָ֗נִי'A.niH589will notלֹֽא־lo'-H3808go pastאֶֽעֱבֹ֤ר'e.'e.VorH5674thisהַזֶּ֔ה וְאִם־ha.Zeh ve.'im-H2088 H518moundהַגַּ֣לha.GalH1530to harm youאֵלֶ֙יךָ֙'e.Lei.khaH413אֶת־'et-H853,and youאַ֠תָּה'A.tahH859will notלֹא־lo'-H3808go pastתַעֲבֹ֨ר אֵלַ֜יta.'a.Vor 'e.LaiH5674 H413אֶת־'et-H853thisהַזֶּ֛הha.ZehH2088וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853moundהַגַּ֥לha.GalH1530andהַזֹּ֖אתha.ZotH2063pillarהַמַּצֵּבָ֥הha.ma.tze.VahH4676to harm meלְרָעָֽה׃le.ra.'AhH7451.

54Then Jacobיַעֲקֹ֥בya.'a.KoH3290offeredוַיִּזְבַּ֨חvai.yiz.BachH2076a sacrificeזֶ֙בַח֙ze.vachH2077on the mountainבָּהָ֔רba.HarH2022and invitedוַיִּקְרָ֥אvai.yik.Ra'H7121his relativesלְאֶחָ֖יוle.'e.ChavH251to eatלֶאֱכָל־le.'e.khol-H398a mealלָ֑חֶםLa.chemH3899.And after they had eatenוַיֹּ֣אכְלוּ לֶ֔חֶםvai.Yo.khe.lu Le.chemH398 H3899,they spent the nightוַיָּלִ֖ינוּvai.ya.Li.nuH3885on the mountainבָּהָֽר׃ba.HarH2022.
