1 Kings 1:11-31
11Then NathanH5416 spake unto Bath-sheba the motherH517 of SolomonH8010, sayingH559, Hast thou not heardH8085 that AdonijahH138 the sonH1121 of HaggithH2294 doth reignH4427, and DavidH1732 our lordH113 knoweth it not? 12NowH6258 thereforeH6258 come, let me, I pray thee, give thee counselH6098, that thou mayest saveH4422 thine ownH5315 lifeH5315, and the lifeH5315 of thy sonH1121 SolomonH8010. 13GoH935 and get thee in unto kingH4428 DavidH1732, and sayH559 unto him, Didst not thou, my lordH113, O kingH4428, swearH7650 unto thy handmaid, sayingH559, Assuredly SolomonH8010 thy sonH1121 shall reignH4427 after me, and he shall sitH3427 upon my throneH3678? whyH4069 then doth AdonijahH138 reignH4427? 14Behold, while thou yetH5750 talkest there with the kingH4428, I also will comeH935 in after thee, and confirm thy wordsH1697.
15And Bath-sheba wentH935 in unto the kingH4428 into the chamberH2315: and the kingH4428 was veryH3966 oldH2204; and AbishagH49 the ShunammiteH7767 was ministering unto the kingH4428. 16And Bath-sheba bowedH7812, and did obeisance unto the kingH4428. And the kingH4428 saidH559, What wouldest thou? 17And she saidH559 unto him, My lord, thou swarest by Jehovah thy GodH430 unto thy handmaid, sayingH559, Assuredly SolomonH8010 thy sonH1121 shall reignH4427 after me, and he shall sitH3427 upon my throneH3678. 18And nowH6258, behold, AdonijahH138 reigneth; and thou, my lordH113 the kingH4428, knowest it not: 19and he hath slain oxen and fatlingsH4806 and sheepH6629 in abundanceH7230, and hath calledH7121 all the sonsH1121 of the kingH4428, and AbiatharH54 the priestH3548, and JoabH3097 the captain of the hostH6635; but SolomonH8010 thy servantH5650 hath he not calledH7121. 20And thou, my lordH113 the kingH4428, the eyesH5869 of all IsraelH3478 are upon thee, that thou shouldest tellH5046 them who shall sitH3427 on the throneH3678 of my lordH113 the kingH4428 after him. 21Otherwise it will come to pass, when my lordH113 the kingH4428 shall sleep with his fathersH1, that I and my sonH1121 SolomonH8010 shall beH1961 counted offenders.
22And, lo, while she yetH5750 talked with the kingH4428, NathanH5416 the prophetH5030 cameH935 in. 23And they toldH5046 the kingH4428, sayingH559, Behold, NathanH5416 the prophetH5030. And when he was comeH935 in before the kingH4428, he bowedH7812 himself before the kingH4428 with his faceH6440 to the groundH776. 24And NathanH5416 saidH559, My lordH113, O kingH4428, hast thou saidH559, AdonijahH138 shall reignH4427 after me, and he shall sitH3427 upon my throneH3678? 25For he is goneH3381 down this dayH3117, and hath slain oxen and fatlingsH4806 and sheepH6629 in abundanceH7230, and hath calledH7121 all the king’sH4428 sonsH1121, and the captains of the hostH6635, and AbiatharH54 the priestH3548; and, behold, they are eatingH398 and drinkingH8354 before him, and sayH559, Long liveH2421 kingH4428 AdonijahH138. 26But me, even me thy servantH5650, and ZadokH6659 the priestH3548, and BenaiahH1141 the sonH1121 of JehoiadaH3077, and thy servantH5650 SolomonH8010, hath he not calledH7121. 27Is this thingH1697 done by my lordH113 the kingH4428, and thou hast not showed unto thy servantsH5650 who should sitH3427 on the throneH3678 of my lordH113 the kingH4428 after him?
28Then kingH4428 DavidH1732 answered and saidH559, CallH7121 to me Bath-sheba. And she cameH935 into the king’sH4428 presenceH6440, and stoodH5975 before the kingH4428. 29And the kingH4428 sware, and saidH559, As Jehovah liveth, who hath redeemedH6299 my soulH5315 out of all adversity, 30verily as I sware unto thee by Jehovah, the GodH430 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, Assuredly SolomonH8010 thy sonH1121 shall reignH4427 after me, and he shall sitH3427 upon my throneH3678 in my stead; verily soH3651 will I do this dayH3117. 31Then Bath-sheba bowedH7812 with her faceH639 to the earthH776, and did obeisance to the kingH4428, and saidH559, Let my lordH113 kingH4428 DavidH1732 liveH2421 for everH5769.
