2AndJehoashH3060did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD all hisdaysH8141wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him.
3Howbeit the highplacesH3605were not takenawayH3605: thepeopleאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834still sacrificed and burnt incense in the highplacesH3605.
4And Jehoash said to thepriestsלֹא־lo'-H3808,AllH5750the money of the hallowed things that is broughtintoH5493the house of the LORD, in current money, the money of the persons for whomeachהָעָ֛םha.'AmH5971man is rated, andallH5750the money that it comethintoH5493anyH5750man’s heart to bringintoH5493the house of the LORD,
5letנַפְשׁ֖וֹתnaf.ShotH5315thepriestsH3548takeH935it to them,everyH3605manH376from his acquaintance: and they shall repair the breaches of thehouseH1004, wheresoeveranyH3605breach shall be found.
6But it wassoיִקְח֤וּyik.ChuH3947, that in the three and twentieth year of king Jehoash thepriestsH3548had notrepairedH2388the breaches of thehouseH1004.
7ThenkingH4428JehoashH3060called for Jehoiada thepriestH3548, and for the otherpriestsH3548, and said unto them,WhyH3808repairחִזְּק֥וּchi.ze.KuH2388yenotH3808the breaches of thehouseH1004?nowוַיְהִ֗יvay.HiH1961thereforetakeמְחַזְּקִ֖יםme.cha.ze.KimH2388noH3808moreH3808money from your acquaintance, but deliver it for the breaches of thehouseH1004.
9But Jehoiada thepriestH3548tookH3947a chest, and bored a hole in the lid of it, and set it beside the altar, on the right side as one comethintoH3947thehouseH1004of the LORD: and thepriestsH3548that kept the doorputH3947therein all themoneyH3701that wasbroughtH3947intoH3947thehouseH1004of the LORD.
10And it wassoוַיִּקַּ֞חvai.yi.KachH3947, when they saw that there wasmuchכָּל־kol-H3605moneyH3701in thechestH727, that the king’s scribe and the highpriestH3548cameH935upH5414, and theyputH5414upH5414in bags and told themoneyH3701that was found in thehouseH1004of theLORDH3068.
11And theygaveH1961themoneyH3701that was weighedoutH7200intoH1961the hands of them that did the work, that had the oversight of thehouseH1004of theLORDH3068: and they paid itoutH7200to the carpenters and the builders, that wroughtuponH1961thehouseH1004of theLORDH3068,
12and to themasonsלְחָרָשֵׁ֤יle.cha.ra.SheiH2796and the hewers of stone, and for buyingtimberH6086and hewn stone to repair the breaches of thehouseH1004of theLORDH3068, and forallהַמֻּפְקָדִ֖יםha.pe.ku.dimH6485that waslaidוְנָתְנוּ֙ve.na.te.NuH5414outH3318for thehouseH1004to repair it.
13But there were notmadeH2388for thehouseH1004of theLORDH3068cups of silver, snuffers, basons, trumpets,anyH3605vessels of gold, or vessels of silver, of the money that wasbroughtיֵצֵ֥אye.Tze'H3318intoעַל־'al-H5921thehouseH1004of theLORDH3068:
14for theygaveלְעֹשֵׂ֥יle.'o.SeiH6213that to them thatdidיֵעָשֶׂ֜הye.'a.SehH6213the work, and repaired therewith thehouseH1004of theLORDH3068.
15Moreover they reckonednotH3588with themenH6213,intoH5414whosehandH5414theydeliveredH5414the money togiveH5414to them thatdidH6213theworkH4399: for they dealt faithfully.
16ThemoneyH3701for the guiltofferingsH3588, and themoneyH3701for the sinofferingsH3588, wasnotH3808broughtH5414intoעַל־'al-H5921the house of the LORD: it was the priests’.
17Then Hazael king of SyriawentH935upH935, and foughtagainstH935Gath, andtookיִהְיֽוּ׃ פyih.YuH1961it: and HazaelsetH935his face togoH935upH935to Jerusalem.
18And JehoashkingH4428of Judahtookוַֽיִּלְכְּדָ֑הּvai.yil.ke.DahH3920allH5927the hallowed things that Jehoshaphat, and Jehoram, and Ahaziah, his fathers,kingsH4428of Judah, had dedicated, and hisownפָּנָ֔יוpa.NavH6440hallowed things, andallH5927the gold that was found in the treasures of the house of the LORD; and of theking’sH4428house, andsentH5927it toHazaelH2371kingH4428ofSyriaH758: and hewentH5927awayH5927fromJerusalemH3389.
19Now the rest of the acts ofJoashיְהוֹאָ֣שׁye.ho.'AshH3060, andallH3605that hedidH834, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of thekingsH4428ofJudahH3063?
20And his servants arose, andmadeעָשָׂ֑ה'a.SahH6213a conspiracy, and smoteJoashH3101at the house of Millo, on thewayH1697that goethdownכְּתוּבִ֗יםke.tu.VimH3789to Silla.
21For Jozacar the son of Shimeath, and Jehozabad the son of Shomer, hisservantsH5650,smoteH5221him, and he died; and they buried him with his fathers in the city of David: and Amaziah his son reigned in hin stead.
