1IntheseventhyearH8141ofJehu beganJehoashH3060toreignH4427;andhereignedH4427fortyyearsH8141inJerusalem:andhismother’s namewasZibiahofBeer-sheba.
2AndJehoashH3060didthatwhichwasrightintheeyesofJehovah allhisdayswherein Jehoiadathepriest instructedhim.
3Howbeitthehighplaceswerenot takenaway;thepeoplestill sacrificedandburnt incenseinthehighplaces.
4AndJehoash saidtothepriests,AllthemoneyofthehallowedthingsthatisbroughtintothehouseofJehovah,incurrent money,themoneyofthepersonsforwhomeachmanisrated,andallthemoneythatitcomethintoanyman’s hearttobringintothehouseofJehovah,
5letthepriestsH3548takeittothem,everymanH376fromhisacquaintance;andtheyshallrepairthebreachesofthehouseH1004, wheresoeveranybreachshallbefound.
6Butitwasso,thatinthethreeandtwentieth yearofking JehoashthepriestsH3548hadnotrepairedH2388thebreachesofthehouseH1004.
7ThenkingH4428JehoashH3060calledforJehoiadathepriestH3548,andfortheotherpriestsH3548,andsaid untothem,WhyrepairH2388yenotthebreachesofthehouseH1004?nowthereforetakeH2388nomoremoneyfromyouracquaintance,butdeliveritforthebreachesofthehouseH1004.
8AndthepriestsH3548consentedthattheyshouldtakeH3947nomoremoneyH3701fromthepeople,neitherrepairH2388thebreachesofthehouseH1004.
9ButJehoiadathepriestH3548tookH3947achest,andboredaholeinthelidofit,andsetitbesidethealtar,ontheright sideasonecomethintothehouseH1004ofJehovah:andthepriestsH3548thatkeptthethresholdputtherein allthemoneyH3701thatwasbroughtintothehouseH1004ofJehovah.
10Anditwasso,whentheysawthattherewasmuchmoneyH3701inthechestH727,thattheking’s scribeandthehighpriestH3548cameH935up,andtheyputH5414upinbagsandcountedthemoneyH3701thatwasfoundinthehouseH1004ofJehovah.
11AndtheygavethemoneyH3701thatwasH1961weighedoutintothehandsofthemthatdidthework,thathadtheoversightofthehouseH1004ofJehovah:andtheypaiditouttothecarpentersandthebuilders,thatwroughtuponthehouseH1004ofJehovah,
12andtothemasonsandthehewersofstone,andforbuyingtimberandhewn stonetorepairthebreachesofthehouseH1004ofJehovah,andforallthatwaslaidoutforthehouseH1004torepairit.
13ButtherewerenotmadeH2388forthehouseH1004ofJehovahcupsofsilver, snuffers, basins, trumpets,anyvesselsofgold,orvesselsofsilver,ofthemoneythatwasbroughtH3318intothehouseH1004ofJehovah;
14fortheygavethattothemthatdidthework,andrepaired therewiththehouseH1004ofJehovah.
15Moreovertheyreckonednotwiththemen,intowhosehandtheydeliveredthemoneytogiveH5414tothemthatdidtheworkH4399;fortheydealt faithfully.
16ThemoneyH3701forthetrespass-offerings,andthemoneyH3701forthesin-offerings,wasnotbroughtintothehouseofJehovah:itwasthepriests’.
17ThenHazael kingofSyriawentH935up,andfoughtagainstGath,andtookit;andHazaelsethisfacetogoH935uptoJerusalem.
18AndJehoashkingH4428ofJudahtookH3920allthehallowed thingsthatJehoshaphatandJehoramandAhaziah,hisfathers,kingsH4428ofJudah,haddedicated,andhisownhallowed things,andallthegoldthatwasfoundinthetreasuresofthehouseofJehovah,andoftheking’sH4428house,andsentittoHazaelH2371kingH4428ofSyria:andhewentH5927awayfromJerusalemH3389.
19NowtherestoftheactsofJoash,andallthathedid,aretheynot writteninthebookofthechroniclesofthekingsH4428ofJudahH3063?
20Andhisservants arose,andmadeH6213aconspiracy,andsmoteJoashH3101atthehouseofMillo,onthewaythatgoethdownH3789toSilla.
21ForJozacarthesonofShimeath,andJehozabadthesonofShomer,hisservantsH5650,smotehim,andhedied;andtheyburiedhimwithhisfathersinthecityofDavid:andAmaziahhisson reignedinhisstead.
