Isaiah 5:11-22
11WoeH1945 to those who riseH7925 earlyH7925 in the morningH1242 so that they may pursueH7291 1intoxicatingH7941 drinkH7941, Who stayH309 upH309 lateH309 in the eveningH5399 so that wineH3196 may inflameH1814 them!12Their banquetsH4960 are accompanied by lyreH3658 and 2harpH5035, by tambourineH8596 and fluteH2485, and by wineH3196; But they 3do not payH5027 attentionH5027 to the deedsH6467 of the LordH3068, NorH3808 do they considerH7200 the workH4639 of His handsH3027.
13ThereforeH3651 My peopleH5971 goH1540 intoH1540 exileH1540 for their 4lackH1097 of knowledgeH1847; And their 56noblesH3519 are famishedH7458, And their multitudeH1995 is parchedH6704 with thirstH6772.14ThereforeH3651 7SheolH7585 has enlargedH7337 its 8throatH5315 and openedH6473 its mouthH6310 beyondH1097 measureH2706; And 9Jerusalem’s splendorH1926, her multitudeH1995, her noiseH7588 of revelry, and the jubilantH5938 within her, descendH3381 into it.15So the common peopleH120 will be humbledH7817 and the personH376 of importance broughtH8213 lowH8213, 10The eyesH5869 of the haughtyH1364 also will be broughtH8213 lowH8213.16But the 11LordH3068 of armiesH6635 will be 12exaltedH1361 in judgmentH4941, And the holyH6918 GodH410 will showH6942 Himself 13holyH6942 in righteousnessH6666.1714Then the lambsH3532 will grazeH7462 as in their pastureH1699, And strangersH1481 will eatH398 in the ruinsH2723 of the 15wealthyH4220.
18WoeH1945 to those who dragH4900 16wrongdoingH5771 with the cordsH2256 of 17deceitH7723, And sinH2403 as if with cartH5699 ropesH5688;1918Who sayH559, “Let Him hurryH4116, let Him doH2363 His workH4639 quicklyH2363, soH4616 thatH4616 we may seeH7200 it; And let the planH6098 of the HolyH6918 OneH6918 of IsraelH3478 approachH7126 And comeH935 to passH935, so that we may knowH3045 it!”20WoeH1945 to those who 19callH559 evilH7451 goodH2896, and goodH2896 evilH7451; Who 2021substituteH7760 darknessH2822 for lightH216 and lightH216 for darknessH2822; Who 22substituteH7760 bitterH4751 for sweetH4966 and sweetH4966 for bitterH4751!21WoeH1945 to those who are 23wiseH2450 in their own eyesH5869 And 24cleverH995 in their own sightH5048H6440!2225WoeH1945 to those who are heroesH1368 in drinkingH8354 wineH3196, And valiantH2428 menH376 in mixingH4537 intoxicatingH7941 drinkH7941,
