2sayingλέγων·legōnG3004: “The scribesγραμματεῖςgrammateisG1122and the PhariseesΦαρισαῖοι·PharisaioiG5330have seatedG2523themselvesG2523in the chairκαθέδραςkathedrasG2515of MosesΜωϋσέωςMōuseōsG3475.

3ThereforeοὖνounG3767,whateverὅσα ἐὰνhosa eanG3745 G1437they tellG3004you, doποιήσατεpoiēsateG4160andcomplyG5083withG5083it allπάνταpantaG3956,but do not doποιεῖτε·poieiteG4160as they doἔργαergaG2041;for they sayG3004thingsand do not doποιοῦσιν.poiousinG4160them.

4Andthey tieG1195upG1195heavyβαρέαbareaG926burdensφορτίαphortiaG5413and layἐπιτιθέασινepititheasinG2007them on people’sἀνθρώπων·anthrōpōnG444shouldersὤμουςōmousG5606,but they themselvesG846are unwillingοὐ θέλουσινou thelousinG3756 G2309to moveκινῆσαιkinēsaiG2795them with so much astheir fingerδακτύλῳdaktulōG1147.

5And they doποιοῦσινpoiousinG4160allπάνταpantaG3956their deedsἔργαergaG2041to be noticedθεαθῆναιtheathēnaiG2300by otherpeopleἀνθρώποις·anthrōpoisG444; for theybroadenπλατύνουσινplatunousinG4115theirphylacteriesφυλακτήριαphulaktēriaG5440and lengthenμεγαλύνουσινmegalunousinG3170the tasselsκράσπεδαkraspedaG2899of their garments.

6And theyloveφιλοῦσινphilousinG5368the placeπρωτοκλισίανprōtoklisianG4411ofG4411honorG4411at banquetsδείπνοιςdeipnoisG1173,and the seatsπρωτοκαθεδρίαςprōtokathedriasG4410ofG4410honorG4410in the synagoguesσυναγωγαῖςsunagōgaisG4864,

7and personalG783greetingsG783in the marketplacesἀγοραῖςagoraisG58,and being calledκαλεῖσθαιkaleisthaiG2564RabbiῥαββίrhabbiG4461by the peopleἀνθρώπωνanthrōpōnG444.

8But as for you,do not be calledκληθῆτεklēthēteG2564Rabbiῥαββί·rhabbiG4461; for onlyOneεἷςheisG1520is your TeacherδιδάσκαλοςdidaskalosG1320,and you are allπάντεςpantesG3956brothersἀδελφοίadelphoiG80and sisters.

9And do not callκαλέσητεkalesēteG2564anyoneon earthγῆς·gēsG1093your fatherπατέραpateraG3962; for onlyOneεἷςheisG1520is your FatherπατὴρpatērG3962,He who is in heavenοὐράνιος.ouraniosG3770.

10And do not be calledκληθῆτεklēthēteG2564leadersκαθηγηταί,kathēgētaiG2519; for onlyOneεἷς,heisG1520is your LeaderκαθηγητὴςkathēgētēsG2519, that is,ChristΧριστός.ChristosG5547.

11But the greatestμείζωνmeizōnG3173of you shall be your servantδιάκονος.diakonosG1249.

12WhoeverὅστιςhostisG3748exaltsὑψώσειhupsōseiG5312himselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438shall be humbledταπεινωθήσεται,tapeinōthēsetaiG5013,and whoeverὅστιςhostisG3748humblesταπεινώσειtapeinōseiG5013himselfἑαυτὸνhe'autonG1438shall be exaltedὑψωθήσεται.¶hupsōthēsetaiG5312.
