6But Adoni-bezekH137fledוַיָּ֙נָס֙vai.Ya.nosH5127;and they pursuedוַֽיִּרְדְּפ֖וּ אַחֲרָ֑יוvai.yir.de.Fu 'a.cha.RavH7291 H310him and caughtוַיֹּאחֲז֣וּvai.yo.cha.ZuH270him, and cutוַֽיְקַצְּצ֔וּvay.ka.tze.TzuH7112offH7112histhumbsבְּהֹנ֥וֹתbe.ho.NotH931and bigH931toesוְרַגְלָֽיו׃ve.rag.LavH931 H7272.

7And Adoni-bezekH137saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Seventyשִׁבְעִ֣ים׀shiv.'ImH7657kingsמְלָכִ֡יםme.la.KhimH4428with their thumbsבְּֽהֹנוֹת֩be.ho.nOtH931and their bigH931toesוְרַגְלֵיהֶ֜םve.rag.lei.HemH931 H7272cutמְקֻצָּצִ֗יםme.ku.tza.TzimH7112offH7112used to gatherמְלַקְּטִים֙me.la.ke.TimH3950upH3950scrapsunderתַּ֣חַתTa.chatH8478my tableשֻׁלְחָנִ֔יshul.cha.NiH7979;as I have doneעָשִׂ֔יתִי'a.Si.tiH6213,soכֵּ֥ןkenH3651Godאֱלֹהִ֑ים'E.lo.HimH430has repaidשִׁלַּם־shi.lam-H7999me.” So they broughtוַיְבִיאֻ֥הוּvay.vi.'U.huH935him to Jerusalemיְרוּשָׁלִַ֖םye.ru.sha.LimH3389,and he diedוַיָּ֥מָתvai.Ya.motH4191thereשָֽׁם׃ פShamH8033.

8Then the sonsבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121of Judahיְהוּדָה֙ye.hu.DahH3063foughtוַיִּלָּחֲמ֤וּvai.yi.la.cha.MuH3898againstJerusalemבִּיר֣וּשָׁלִַ֔םbi.Ru.sha.LimH3389and capturedוַיִּלְכְּד֣וּvai.yil.ke.DuH3920it, and struckוַיַּכּ֖וּהָvai.ya.Ku.haH5221it with the edgeלְפִי־le.fi-H6310of the swordחָ֑רֶבCha.revH2719,and setשִׁלְּח֥וּshi.le.ChuH7971the cityהָעִ֖ירha.'IrH5892on fireבָאֵֽשׁ׃va.'EshH784.

9Afterwardוְאַחַ֗רve.'a.CharH310,the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Judahיְהוּדָ֔הye.hu.DahH3063wentH3381downיָֽרְדוּ֙ya.re.DuH3381to fightלְהִלָּחֵ֖םle.hi.la.ChemH3898against the Canaanitesבַּֽכְּנַעֲנִ֑יba.ke.na.'a.NiH3669livingיוֹשֵׁ֣בyo.ShevH3427in the hillהָהָ֔רha.HarH2022countryH2022, and in theNegevוְהַנֶּ֖גֶבve.ha.Ne.gevH5045,and in the lowlandוְהַשְּׁפֵלָֽה׃ve.ha.she.fe.LahH8219.

10So Judahיְהוּדָ֗הye.hu.DahH3063wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980againstאֶל־'el-H413the Canaanitesהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669who livedהַיּוֹשֵׁ֣בhai.yo.ShevH3427in Hebronבְּחֶבְר֔וֹןbe.chev.RonH2275(the nameוְשֵׁם־ve.shem-H8034of Hebronחֶבְר֥וֹןchev.RonH2275waspreviouslyלְפָנִ֖יםle.fa.NimH6440Kiriath-arbaH7153);and they struckוַיַּכּ֛וּvai.ya.KuH5221Sheshaiשֵׁשַׁ֥יshe.ShaiH8344,Ahimanאֲחִימַ֖ן'a.chi.ManH289,and Talmaiתַּלְמָֽי׃tal.MaiH8526.

11Thenfrom thereמִשָּׁ֔םmi.ShamH8033he wentוַיֵּ֣לֶךְvai.Ye.lekhH1980againstאֶל־'el-H413the inhabitantsיוֹשְׁבֵ֖יyo.she.VeiH3427of Debirדְּבִ֑ירde.VirH1688(the nameוְשֵׁם־ve.shem-H8034of Debirדְּבִ֥ירde.VirH1688waspreviouslyלְפָנִ֖יםle.fa.NimH6440Kiriath-sepherH7158).

12And Calebכָּלֵ֔בka.LevH3612saidוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “Whoeverאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834attacksיַכֶּ֥הya.KehH5221Kiriath-sepherH7158and capturesוּלְכָדָ֑הּu.le.kha.DahH3920it, I will giveוְנָתַ֥תִּיve.na.Ta.tiH5414him my daughterבִתִּ֖יvi.TiH1323Achsahעַכְסָ֥ה'akh.SahH5915as a wifeלְאִשָּֽׁה׃le.'i.ShahH802.”

13NowOthnielעָתְנִיאֵ֣ל'a.te.ni.'ElH6274the sonבֶּן־ben-H1121of Kenazקְנַ֔זke.NazH7073,Caleb’sכָלֵ֖בkha.LevH3612youngerהַקָּטֹ֣ן מִמֶּ֑נּוּha.ka.Ton mi.Me.nuH6996 H4480brotherאֲחִ֥י'a.ChiH251,capturedוַֽיִּלְכְּדָהּ֙vai.yil.ke.DahH3920it; so he gaveוַיִּתֶּן־vai.yi.ten-H5414him his daughterבִתּ֖וֹvi.ToH1323Achsahעַכְסָ֥ה'akh.SahH5915as a wifeלְאִשָּֽׁה׃le.'i.ShahH802.

14Thenit happenedוַיְהִ֣יvay.HiH1961that when she cameבְּבוֹאָ֗הּbe.vo.'AhH935to him,she incitedוַתְּסִיתֵ֙הוּ֙va.te.si.Te.huH5496him to askלִשְׁא֤וֹלlish.'olH7592her fatherאָבִ֙יהָ֙'a.Vi.haH1for a fieldהַשָּׂדֶ֔הha.sa.DehH7704. Then later,she dismountedוַתִּצְנַ֖חva.titz.NachH6795fromher donkeyהַחֲמ֑וֹרha.cha.MorH2543,and Calebכָּלֵ֖בka.LevH3612saidוַיֹּֽאמֶר־vai.yo.mer-H559to her, “Whatמַה־mah-H4100do you want?”

15She saidוַתֹּ֨אמֶרva.To.merH559to him, “Giveהָֽבָה־ha.vah-H3051me a blessingבְרָכָ֗הve.ra.KhahH1293:sinceכִּ֣יkiH3588you have givenנְתַתָּ֔נִיne.ta.Ta.niH5414me the landאֶ֤רֶץ'E.retzH776of theNegevהַנֶּ֙גֶב֙ha.Ne.gevH5045,giveוְנָתַתָּ֥הve.na.ta.TahH5414me springsגֻּלֹּ֣תgu.LotH1543of waterמָ֑יִםMa.yimH4325also.” So Calebכָּלֵ֗בka.LevH3612gaveוַיִּתֶּן־vai.yi.ten-H5414her the upperעִלִּ֔ית'i.LitH5942springsגֻּלֹּ֣תgu.LotH1543and the lowerתַּחְתִּֽית׃ פtach.TitH8482springsגֻּלֹּ֥תgu.LotH1543.
