12But the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Manassehמְנַשֶּׁ֔הme.na.ShehH4519couldיָכְלוּ֙ya.khe.LuH3201not takeלְהוֹרִ֖ישׁle.ho.RishH3423possessionH3423of theseהָאֵ֑לֶּהha.'E.lehH428citiesהֶֽעָרִ֣יםhe.'a.RimH5892,because the Canaanitesהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֔יha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669persistedוַיּ֙וֹאֶל֙vai.Yo.'elH2974in livingלָשֶׁ֖בֶתla.She.vetH3427in thisH2088landבָּאָ֥רֶץba.'A.retzH776.

13And it cameH1961aboutH1961whenכִּ֤יkiH3588the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478becameH2388strongחָֽזְקוּ֙cha.ze.KuH2388,they putוַיִּתְּנ֥וּvai.yi.te.NuH5414the Canaanitesהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֖יha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669to forcedH4522laborלָמַ֑סla.MasH4522, but they did notdriveH3423them outH3423completelyH3423.

14Then thesonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Josephיוֹסֵ֔ףyo.SefH3130spokeוַֽיְדַבְּרוּ֙vay.da.be.RuH1696to Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֖עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “Whyמַדּוּעַ֩ma.du.a'H4069have you givenנָתַ֨תָּהna.Ta.tahH5414me onlyoneאֶחָד֙'e.ChadH259lotגּוֹרָ֤לgo.RalH1486and oneאֶחָ֔ד'e.ChadH259portionוְחֶ֣בֶלve.Che.velH2256as an inheritanceנַחֲלָ֗הna.cha.LahH5159,though I am a numerousרָ֔בRavH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971whomאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834the Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068has blessedבֵּֽרְכַ֥נִיbe.re.Kha.niH1288upעַ֥ד'adH5704toעַד־'ad-H5704thisH3541pointH3541?”

15And Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֗עַye.ho.Shu.a'H3091saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Ifאִם־'im-H518you are a numerousרַ֤בravH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971,goעֲלֵ֣ה'a.LehH5927upH5927to the forestהַיַּ֔עְרָהhai.Ya'.rahH3293and clearוּבֵרֵאתָ֤u.ve.re.TaH1254a placefor yourself thereשָׁ֔םShamH8033in the landבְּאֶ֥רֶץbe.'E.retzH776of the Perizzitesהַפְּרִזִּ֖יha.pe.ri.ZiH6522and of the Rephaimוְהָֽרְפָאִ֑יםve.ha.re.fa.'ImH7497,sinceכִּֽי־ki-H3588the hillהַר־har-H2022countryH2022of Ephraimאֶפְרָֽיִם׃'ef.Ra.yimH669isH213tooH213narrowH213for you.”

16The sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Josephיוֹסֵ֔ףyo.SefH3130then saidוַיֹּֽאמְרוּ֙vai.yo.me.RuH559, “The hillהָהָ֑רha.HarH2022countryH2022isH4672not enoughH4672for us, but allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the Canaanitesהַֽכְּנַעֲנִי֙ha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669who liveהַיֹּשֵׁ֣בhai.yo.ShevH3427in the valleyהָעֵ֔מֶקha.'E.mekH6010landבְּאֶֽרֶץ־be.'e.retz-H776haveironבַּרְזֶ֗לbar.ZelH1270chariotsוְרֶ֣כֶבve.Re.khevH7393,both those whoלַֽאֲשֶׁ֤רla.'a.SherH834are in Beth-sheanH1052and its townsוּבְנוֹתֶ֔יהָu.ve.no.Tei.haH1323and those whoוְלַֽאֲשֶׁ֖רve.la.'a.SherH834are in the Valleyבְּעֵ֥מֶקbe.'E.mekH6010of Jezreelיִזְרְעֶֽאל׃yiz.re.'ElH3157.”

17But Joshuaיְהוֹשֻׁ֙עַ֙ye.ho.Shu.a'H3091spokeוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the houseבֵּ֣יתbeitH1004of Josephיוֹסֵ֔ףyo.SefH3130,to Ephraimלְאֶפְרַ֥יִםle.'ef.Ra.yimH669and Manassehוְלִמְנַשֶּׁ֖הve.lim.na.ShehH4519,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, “You are a numerousרַ֣בravH7227peopleעַם־'am-H5971and have greatגָּדוֹל֙ga.dOlH1419powerוְכֹ֤חַve.Kho.achH3581;you shall not haveיִהְיֶ֥הyih.YehH1961oneאֶחָֽד׃'e.ChadH259lotגּוֹרָ֥לgo.RalH1486only,

18but the hillהַ֤רharH2022countryH2022shall be yours. For though it is a forestיַ֣עַרYa.'arH3293,you shall clearוּבֵ֣רֵאת֔וֹu.Ve.re.ToH1254it, and to itsfarthestH8444bordersH8444it shall be yours; for you shalldriveH3423outH3423the Canaanitesהַֽכְּנַעֲנִ֗יha.ke.na.'a.NiH3669,evenH3588thoughH3588they haveironבַּרְזֶל֙bar.ZelH1270chariotsרֶ֤כֶבRe.khevH7393andthoughH3588they are strongחָזָ֖קcha.ZakH2389.”
