2that the kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toNathanנָתָ֣ןna.TanH5416the prophetהַנָּבִ֔יאha.na.Vi'H5030, “Seeרְאֵ֣הre.'EhH7200nowנָ֔אNa'H4994,I liveיוֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427ina houseבְּבֵ֣יתbe.VeitH1004of cedarאֲרָזִ֑ים'a.ra.ZimH730,but the arkוַֽאֲרוֹן֙va.'a.rOnH727of Godהָֽאֱלֹהִ֔יםha.'E.lo.HimH430remainsיֹשֵׁ֖בyo.ShevH3427withinבְּת֥וֹךְbe.TokhH8432the tentהַיְרִיעָֽה׃hay.ri.'AhH3407.”

3Nathanנָתָן֙na.TanH5416saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428, “Goלֵ֣ךְlekhH1980,doעֲשֵׂ֑ה'a.SehH6213allכֹּ֛לkolH3605that is in your mindבִּֽלְבָבְךָ֖bil.va.ve.KhaH3824,for the Lordיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068is with you.”

4But in the sameהַה֑וּאha.Hu'H1931nightבַּלַּ֣יְלָהba.Lay.lahH3915,the wordדְּבַר־de.var-H1697of the Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068cameH1961to Nathanנָתָ֖ןna.TanH5416,sayingלֵאמֹֽר׃le.MorH559,

5“Goלֵ֤ךְlekhH1980and sayוְאָֽמַרְתָּ֙ve.'a.mar.TaH559to My servantעַבְדִּ֣י'av.DiH5650Davidדָּוִ֔דda.VidH1732, ‘ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָ֑הYah.wehH3068saysאָמַ֣ר'a.MarH559: “Should you buildתִּבְנֶה־tiv.neh-H1129Me a houseבַ֖יִתVa.yitH1004for My dwellingלְשִׁבְתִּֽי׃le.shiv.TiH3427?

6ForI have not dweltיָשַׁ֙בְתִּי֙ya.Shav.tiH3427in a houseבְּבַ֔יִתbe.Va.yitH1004sinceH4480the dayלְ֠מִיּוֹםLe.mi.yomH3117I broughtH5927upH5927the sonsבְּנֵ֤יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֙Yis.ra.'ElH3478from Egyptמִמִּצְרַ֔יִםmi.mitz.Ra.yimH4714,even to thisהַזֶּ֑הha.ZehH2088dayהַיּ֣וֹםhai.YomH3117;rather, I have beenוָאֶֽהְיֶה֙va.'eh.YehH1961movingH1980aboutH1980in a tentבְּאֹ֖הֶלbe.'O.helH168,that is, in a dwellingH4908placeH4908.

7Whereverבְּכֹ֥ל אֲשֶֽׁר־be.Khol 'a.Sher-H3605 H834I have goneהִתְהַלַּכְתִּי֮hit.ha.lakh.TiH1980with allבְּכָל־be.kholH3605the sonsבְּנֵ֣יbe.NeiH1121of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל֒Yis.ra.'ElH3478,did I speakדִּבַּ֗רְתִּיdi.Bar.tiH1696a wordהֲדָבָ֣רha.da.VarH1697with oneאַחַד֙'a.ChadH259of the tribesשִׁבְטֵ֣יshiv.TeiH7626of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478,whomאֲשֶׁ֣ר'a.SherH834I commandedצִוִּ֗יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680to shepherdלִרְע֛וֹתlir.'otH7462My peopleעַמִּ֥י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֖לYis.ra.'ElH3478,sayingלֵאמֹ֑רle.MorH559, ‘Whyלָ֛מָּהLa.mahH4100have you not builtבְנִיתֶ֥םve.ni.TemH1129Me a houseבֵּ֥יתbeitH1004of cedarאֲרָזִֽים׃'a.ra.ZimH730?’”’

8Nowוְ֠עַתָּהVe.'a.tahH6258then, thisH3541isH3541whatH3541you shall sayתֹאמַ֞רto.MarH559to My servantלְעַבְדִּ֣יle.'av.DiH5650Davidלְדָוִ֗דle.da.VidH1732: ‘ThisH3541isH3541whatH3541the Lordיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068of armiesצְבָא֔וֹתtze.va.'otH6635saysאָמַר֙'a.MarH559: “I Myselfאֲנִ֤י'a.NiH589tookלְקַחְתִּ֙יךָ֙le.kach.Ti.khaH3947you from the pastureהַנָּוֶ֔הha.na.VehH5116,from followingמֵאַחַ֖רme.'a.CharH310the sheepהַצֹּ֑אןha.TzonH6629,to be leaderנָגִ֔ידna.GidH5057overH5921My peopleעַמִּ֖י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃Yis.ra.'ElH3478.

9AndI have beenוָאֶהְיֶ֣הva.'eh.YehH1961with you whereverבְּכֹל֙ אֲשֶׁ֣רbe.Khol 'a.SherH3605 H834you have goneהָלַ֔כְתָּha.Lakh.taH1980, andhave eliminatedוָאַכְרִ֥תָהva.'akh.Ri.tahH3772allכָּל־kol-H3605your enemiesH340from you; I will also makeוְעָשִׂ֤תִֽיve.'a.Si.tiH6213a greatגָּד֔וֹלga.DolH1419nameשֵׁ֣םshemH8034for you, like the namesכְּשֵׁ֥םke.ShemH8034of the greatהַגְּדֹלִ֖יםha.ge.do.LimH1419menH1419whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834are on the earthבָּאָֽרֶץ׃ba.'A.retzH776.

10And I will establishוְשַׂמְתִּ֣יve.sam.TiH7760a placeמָ֠קוֹםMa.komH4725for My peopleלְעַמִּ֨יle.'a.MiH5971Israelלְיִשְׂרָאֵ֤לle.Yis.ra.'ElH3478, andwill plantוּנְטַעְתִּיו֙u.ne.ta'.TivH5193them, so that they may liveH7931inH7931their own placeתַּחְתָּ֔יוtach.TavH8478and not be disturbedיִרְגַּ֖זyir.GazH7264againע֑וֹדodH5750,norH3808willmaliciousH5767peopleבְנֵֽי־ve.nei-H1121oppressלְעַנּוֹת֔וֹle.'a.no.ToH6031them anymoreיֹסִ֤יפוּyo.Si.fuH3254as previouslyבָּרִאשׁוֹנָֽה׃ba.ri.sho.NahH7223,

11evenfrom the dayהַיּ֗וֹםhai.YomH3117that I appointedצִוִּ֤יתִיtzi.Vi.tiH6680judgesשֹֽׁפְטִים֙sho.fe.TimH8199overעַל־'al-H5921My peopleעַמִּ֣י'a.MiH5971Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478; andI will giveוַהֲנִיחֹ֥תִיva.ha.ni.Cho.tiH5117you restH5117from allמִכָּל־mi.kolH3605your enemiesH340.The Lordיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068also declaresוְהִגִּ֤ידve.hi.GidH5046to you thatthe Lordיְהוָֽה׃Yah.wehH3068will makeיַעֲשֶׂה־ya.'a.seh-H6213a houseבַ֖יִתVa.yitH1004for you.

12Whenכִּ֣י׀kiH3588your daysיָמֶ֗יךָya.Mei.khaH3117are finishedיִמְלְא֣וּyim.le.'UH4390and youlieוְשָֽׁכַבְתָּ֙ve.sha.khav.TaH7901downH7901with your fathersאֲבֹתֶ֔יךָ'a.vo.Tei.khaH1,I will raiseוַהֲקִימֹתִ֤יva.ha.ki.mo.TiH6965upH6965yourdescendantזַרְעֲךָ֙zar.'a.KhaH2233afterאַחֲרֶ֔יךָ'a.cha.Rei.khaH310you, whoאֲשֶׁ֥ר'a.SherH834will comeיֵצֵ֖אye.Tze'H3318fromyou, and I will establishוַהֲכִינֹתִ֖יva.ha.khi.no.TiH3559his kingdomמַמְלַכְתּֽוֹ׃mam.lakh.ToH4467.

13He shall buildיִבְנֶה־yiv.neh-H1129a houseבַּ֖יִתBa.yitH1004for My nameלִשְׁמִ֑יlish.MiH8034, andI will establishוְכֹנַנְתִּ֛יve.kho.nan.TiH3559the throneכִּסֵּ֥אki.Se'H3678of his kingdomמַמְלַכְתּ֖וֹmam.lakh.toH4467foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.

14I will be a fatherלְאָ֔בle.'AvH1to him and he will be a sonלְבֵ֑ןle.VenH1121to Me;whenאֲשֶׁר֙'a.SherH834he doesH5753wrongבְּהַ֣עֲוֹת֔וֹbe.Ha.'otoH5753,I will disciplineוְהֹֽכַחְתִּיו֙ve.ho.khach.TivH3198him with a rodבְּשֵׁ֣בֶטbe.She.vetH7626of menH376and with strokesוּבְנִגְעֵ֖יu.ve.nig.'EiH5061of sonsבְּנֵ֥יbe.NeiH1121of mankindאָדָֽם׃'a.DamH120,

15but My favorוְחַסְדִּ֖יve.chas.DiH2617shall not departH5493from him,as I tookH5493itawayH5493from Saulשָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586,whomH834I removedH5493from you.

16Your houseבֵּיתְךָ֧bei.te.KhaH1004and your kingdomוּמַֽמְלַכְתְּךָ֛u.mam.lakh.te.KhaH4467shall endureוְנֶאְמַ֨ןve.ne'.ManH539beforeלְפָנֶ֑יךָle.fa.Nei.khaH6440Me foreverעַד־ עוֹלָ֖ם'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769;your throneכִּֽסְאֲךָ֔kis.'a.KhaH3678shall be establishedנָכ֖וֹןna.KhonH3559foreverעַד־ עוֹלָֽם׃'ad- o.LamH5704 H5769.”’”
