3But the peopleהָעָ֜םha.'AmH5971saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559, “You should not goתֵצֵ֗אte.Tze'H3318outH3318;for ifאִם־'im-H518inH5127factH5127we fleeH5127,they will not careיָשִׂ֧ימוּ לֵ֗בya.Si.mu LevH7760 H3820aboutאֵלֵ֣ינוּ'e.Lei.nuH413us; and ifוְאִם־ve.'im-H518halfחֶצְיֵ֙נוּ֙chetz.Ye.nuH2677of us dieיָמֻ֤תוּya.Mu.tuH4191,they will not careיָשִׂ֤ימוּ לֵ֔בya.Si.mu LevH7760 H3820aboutאֵלֵ֙ינוּ֙'e.Lei.nuH413us. But you areworth tenעֲשָׂרָ֣ה'a.sa.RahH6235thousandאֲלָפִ֑ים'a.la.FimH505of us; so nowH6258it is betterט֔וֹבTovH2896that you will be readyto helpלַעְזֽוֹר׃ סla'.zirH5826us from the cityמֵעִ֖ירme.'IrH5892.”

4Then the kingהַמֶּ֔לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to them, “Whateverאֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834seemsH3190bestיִיטַ֥בyi.TavH3190to you I will doאֶעֱשֶׂ֑ה'e.'e.SehH6213.” Sothe kingהַמֶּ֙לֶךְ֙ha.Me.lekhH4428stoodוַיַּעֲמֹ֤דvai.ya.'a.ModH5975besideיַ֣דyadH413 H3027the gateהַשַּׁ֔עַרha.Sha.'arH8179,and allוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָם֙ha.'AmH5971wentH3318outH3318by hundredsלְמֵא֖וֹתle.me.'otH3967and thousandsוְלַאֲלָפִֽים׃ve.la.'a.la.FimH505.

5But the kingהַמֶּ֡לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428commandedוַיְצַ֣וvay.TzavH6680Joabי֠וֹאָבyo.'oH3097,Abishaiאֲבִישַׁ֤י'a.vi.ShaiH52,and Ittaiאִתַּי֙'i.TaiH863,sayingלֵאמֹ֔רle.MorH559, “Dealgentlyלְאַט־le.'at-H328with the youngלַנַּ֣עַרla.Na.'arH5288manH5288Absalomלְאַבְשָׁל֑וֹםle.'av.sha.LomH53for my sake.” Andallוְכָל־ve.kholH3605the peopleהָעָ֣םha.'AmH5971heardשָׁמְע֗וּsha.me.'UH8085when the kingהַמֶּ֛לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428commandedבְּצַוֹּ֥תbe.tza.VotH6680allכָּל־kol-H3605the commandersהַשָּׂרִ֖יםha.sa.RimH8269regardingעַל־ דְּבַ֥ר'al- de.VarH5921 H1697Absalomאַבְשָׁלֽוֹם׃'av.sha.LomH53.

7The peopleעַ֣ם'amH5971of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478weredefeatedוַיִּנָּ֤גְפוּvai.yi.Na.ge.fuH5062thereשָׁם֙shamH8033by the servantsעַבְדֵ֣י'av.DeiH5650of Davidדָוִ֑דda.VidH1732,and the slaughterהַמַּגֵּפָ֧הha.ma.ge.FahH4046thereשָׁ֞םshamH8033that dayבַּיּ֥וֹםbai.YomH3117was greatגְדוֹלָ֛הge.do.LahH1419,twentyעֶשְׂרִ֥ים'es.RimH6242thousandאָֽלֶף׃'A.lefH505men.
