Leviticus 20

On Human Sacrifice and Immoralities

1Then the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2“You shall also sayH559 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478:

‘AnyH376 manH376 from the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 or from the aliensH1616 sojourningH1481 in IsraelH3478 1whoH834 givesH5414 anyH4480 of his 2offspringH2233 to MolechH4432, shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; 3the peopleH5971 of the landH776 shall stoneH7275 him with stonesH68. 3I will also setH5414 My faceH6440 against that manH376 and will cutH3772 him offH3772 from amongH7130 his peopleH5971, becauseH3588 he has givenH5414 someH4480 of his 4offspringH2233 to MolechH4432, 5soH4616 as to defileH2930 My sanctuaryH4720 and 6to profaneH2455 My holyH6944 nameH8034. 4IfH518 the peopleH5971 of the landH776, however, 7should everH5956 disregardH5956H5869 that manH376 when he givesH5414 anyH4480 of his 8offspringH2233 to MolechH4432, so as not to putH4191 him to deathH4191, 5then I MyselfH589 will setH7760 My faceH6440 against that manH376 and against his familyH4940, and I will cutH3772 offH3772 from amongH7130 their peopleH5971 both him and allH3605 those who playH2181 the harlotH2181 afterH310 him, by playingH2181 the harlotH2181 afterH310 MolechH4432.

6‘As for the personH5315 whoH834 turnsH6437 to 910mediumsH178 and to spiritistsH3049, to playH2181 the harlotH2181 afterH310 them, I will also setH5414 My faceH6440 against that personH5315 and will cutH3772 him offH3772 from amongH7130 his peopleH5971. 7You shall consecrateH6942 yourselves therefore and 11be holyH6944, for I am the LordH3068 your GodH430. 812You shall keepH8104 My statutesH2708 and practiceH6213 them; I am the LordH3068 who sanctifiesH6942 you.

9‘13IfH3588 there is anyoneH376 whoH834 cursesH7043 his fatherH1 or his motherH517, he shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; he has cursedH7043 his fatherH1 or his motherH517, his bloodguiltinessH1818 is upon him.

10‘14If there is a manH376 whoH834 commitsH5003 adulteryH5003 with another man’sH376 wifeH802, one whoH834 commitsH5003 adulteryH5003 with his friend’sH7453 wifeH802, the adultererH5003 and the adulteressH5003 shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 1115If there is a manH376 whoH834 liesH7901 with his father’sH1 wifeH802, he has uncoveredH1540 his father’sH1 nakednessH6172; bothH8147 of them shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191, their bloodguiltinessH1818 is upon them. 1216If there is a manH376 whoH834 liesH7901 with his daughter-in-lawH3618, bothH8147 of them shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; they have committedH6213 17incestH8397, their bloodguiltinessH1818 is upon them. 1318If there is a manH376 whoH834 liesH7901 with a maleH2145 as those who lieH4904 with a womanH802, bothH8147 of them have committedH6213 a detestableH8441 actH8441; they shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. Their bloodguiltinessH1818 is upon them. 1419If there is a manH376 whoH834 20marriesH3947 a womanH802 and her motherH517, it is immoralityH2154; both he and they shall be burnedH8313 with fireH784, so that there will be noH3808 immoralityH2154 in your midstH8432. 1521If there is a manH376 whoH834 liesH5414H7903 with an animalH929, he shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; you shall also killH2026 the animalH929. 16If there is a womanH802 whoH834 approachesH7126 anyH3605 animalH929 to 22mateH7250 with it, you shall killH2026 the womanH802 and the animalH929; they shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. Their bloodguiltinessH1818 is upon them.

17‘23If there is a manH376 whoH834 takesH3947 his sisterH269, his father’sH1 daughterH1323 orH176 his mother’sH517 daughterH1323, so that he seesH7200 her nakednessH6172 and she seesH7200 his nakednessH6172, it is a disgraceH2617; and they shall be cutH3772 offH3772 in the sightH5869 of the sonsH1121 of their peopleH5971. He has uncoveredH1540 his sister’sH269 nakednessH6172; he bearsH5375 his guiltH5771. 1824If there is a manH376 whoH834 liesH7901 with a 25menstruousH1739 womanH802 and uncoversH1540 her nakednessH6172, he has laidH6168 bareH6168 her flowH4726, and she has 26exposedH1540 the flowH4726 of her bloodH1818; thus bothH8147 of them shall be cutH3772 offH3772 from amongH7130 their peopleH5971. 1927You shall also not uncoverH1540 the nakednessH6172 of your mother’sH517 sisterH269 or of your father’sH1 sisterH269, for such a one has madeH6168 nakedH6168 his 28bloodH7607 relativeH7607; they will bearH5375 their guiltH5771. 2029If there is a manH376 whoH834 liesH7901 with his uncle’sH1733 wifeH1733 he has uncoveredH1540 his uncle’sH1730 nakednessH6172; they will bearH5375 their sinH2399. They will dieH4191 childlessH6185. 2130If there is a manH376 whoH834 takesH3947 his brother’sH251 wifeH802, it is 31abhorrentH5079; he has uncoveredH1540 his brother’sH251 nakednessH6172. They will be childlessH6185.

22‘You are therefore to keepH8104 allH3605 My statutesH2708 and allH3605 My ordinancesH4941 and doH6213 them, so that the landH776 to whichH834 I am bringingH935 you to 32liveH3427 will not 33spewH7006 you out. 23Moreover, you shall not 34followH1980 35the customsH2708 of the nationH1471 whichH834 I will driveH7971 out beforeH6440 you, for they didH6213 allH3605 theseH428 thingsH428, and 36therefore I have abhorredH6973 them. 24Hence I have saidH559 to you, “37You are to possessH3423 their landH127, and I MyselfH589 will giveH5414 it to you to possessH3423 it, a landH776 flowingH2100 with milkH2461 and honeyH1706.” I am the LordH3068 your GodH430, whoH834 has 38separatedH914 you from the peoplesH5971. 2539You are therefore to makeH914 a distinctionH914 betweenH996 the cleanH2889 animalH929 and the uncleanH2931, and betweenH996 the uncleanH2931 birdH5775 and the cleanH2889; and you shall not makeH8262 40yourselvesH5315 detestableH8262 by animalH929 or by birdH5775 or by anythingH3605 41that creepsH7430 on the groundH127, whichH834 I have separatedH914 for you as uncleanH2930. 26Thus you are to be holyH6918 to Me, for I the LordH3068 am holyH6918; and I 42have setH914 you apartH914 from the peoplesH5971 to be Mine.

27‘Now a manH376 orH176 a womanH802 43who is a mediumH178 orH176 a 44spiritistH3049 shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. They shall be stonedH7275 with stonesH68, their bloodguiltinessH1818 is upon them.’”
