Leviticus 24

The Lamp and the Bread of the Sanctuary

1Then the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 2“CommandH6680 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 that they bringH3947 to you 1clearH2134 oilH8081 from beatenH3795 olivesH2132 for the 2lightH3974, to make a lampH5216 3burnH5927 continuallyH8548. 3OutsideH4480H2351 the veilH6532 of testimonyH5715 in the tentH168 of meetingH4150, AaronH175 shall keepH6186 it in orderH6186 from eveningH6153 to morningH1242 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 continuallyH8548; it shall be a perpetualH5769 statuteH2708 throughout your generationsH1755. 4He shall keepH6186 the lampsH5216 in orderH6186 on the 4pureH2889 gold lampstandH4501 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 continuallyH8548.

5“5Then you shall takeH3947 fineH5560 flourH5560 and bakeH644 twelveH8147H6240 cakesH2471 with it; two-tenthsH8147H6241 of an ephah shall be in eachH259 cakeH2471. 6You shall setH7760 them in twoH8147 rowsH4635, sixH8337 to a rowH4635, on the 6pureH2889 gold tableH7979 beforeH6440 the LordH3068. 7You shall putH5414 pureH2134 frankincenseH3828 on each rowH4635 that it may be 7a memorialH234 portionH234 for the breadH3899, even an offeringH801 by fireH801 to the LordH3068. 88Every sabbathH7676 dayH3117 he shall setH6186 it in orderH6186 beforeH6440 the LordH3068 9continuallyH8548; it is an everlastingH5769 covenantH1285 10for the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478. 911It shall be for AaronH175 and his sonsH1121, and they shall eatH398 it in a holyH6918 placeH4725; for it is mostH6944 holyH6944 to him from the Lord’sH3068 offeringsH801 by fireH801, his portionH2706 foreverH5769.”

10Now the sonH1121 of an IsraeliteH3482 womanH802, whose fatherH1121H376 was an EgyptianH4713, wentH3318 out amongH8432 the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478; and the IsraeliteH3482 woman’sH3481 sonH1121 and a manH376 of IsraelH3481 struggledH5327 with each other in the campH4264. 11The sonH1121 of the IsraeliteH3482 womanH802 blasphemedH6895 the 12NameH8034 and cursedH7043. So they broughtH935 him to MosesH4872. (Now his mother’sH517 nameH8034 was ShelomithH8019, the daughterH1323 of DibriH1704, of the tribeH4294 of DanH1835.) 12They putH5117 him in 13custodyH4929 14so that 15the commandH6310 of the LordH3068 might be madeH6567 clearH6567 to them.

13Then the LordH3068 spokeH1696 to MosesH4872, sayingH559, 14“BringH3318 the one who has cursedH7043 outsideH413H4480H2351 the campH4264, and let allH3605 who heardH8085 him 16layH5564 their handsH3027 on his headH7218; then 17let allH3605 the congregationH5712 stoneH7275 him. 15You shall speakH1696 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, sayingH559, ‘18IfH3588 anyoneH376 cursesH7043 his GodH430, then he will bearH5375 his sinH2399. 16Moreover, the one who 19blasphemesH5344 the nameH8034 of the LordH3068 shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191; allH3605 the congregationH5712 shall certainlyH7275 stoneH7275 him. The alienH1616 as well as the nativeH249, when he blasphemesH5344 the NameH8034, shall be putH4191 to deathH4191.

“An Eye for an Eye”

17‘20IfH3588 a manH376 21takesH5221 the lifeH5315 of anyH3605 humanH120 beingH5315, he shall surelyH4191 be putH4191 to deathH4191. 1822The one who 23takesH5221 the lifeH5315 of an animalH929 shall makeH7999 it goodH7999, lifeH5315 for lifeH5315. 19IfH3588 a manH376 24injuresH5414H4140 his neighborH5997, justH3512 as he has doneH6213, soH3651 it shall be doneH6213 to him: 2025fractureH7667 for fractureH7667, 26eyeH5869 for eyeH5869, toothH8127 for toothH8127; justH3512 as he has 27injuredH5414H4140 a manH120, soH3651 it shall be 28inflictedH5414 on him. 21Thus the one who 29killsH5221 an animalH929 shall makeH7999 it goodH7999, but 30the one who 31killsH5221 a manH120 shall be putH4191 to deathH4191. 22There shall be 32oneH259 33standardH4941 for you; it shall be for the strangerH1616 as well as the nativeH249, for I am the LordH3068 your GodH430.’” 23Then MosesH4872 spokeH1696 to the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478, and they broughtH3318 the one who had cursedH7043 outsideH413H4480H2351 the campH4264 and stonedH7275 him with stonesH68. Thus the sonsH1121 of IsraelH3478 didH6213, justH3512 as the LordH3068 had commandedH6680 MosesH4872.
