Jeremiah 22:1-9
1ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “GoH3381 downH3381 to the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 of JudahH3063, and thereH8033 speakH1696 thisH2088 wordH1697 2and sayH559, ‘HearH8085 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, O kingH4428 of JudahH3063, who 1sitsH3427 on David’sH1732 throneH3678, you and your servantsH5650 and your peopleH5971 who enterH935 theseH428 gatesH8179. 3ThusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068, “2DoH6213 justiceH4941 and righteousnessH6666, and deliverH5337 the one who has been robbedH1497 from the powerH3027 of his 3oppressorH6216. Also 4do not mistreatH3238 or doH2554 violenceH2554 to the strangerH1616, the orphanH3490, or the widowH490; and do not 5shedH8210 innocentH5355 bloodH1818 in thisH2088 placeH4725. 4For ifH518 you men will indeedH6213 performH6213 thisH2088 thingH1697, then 6kingsH4428 will enterH935 the gatesH8179 of thisH2088 houseH1004, sittingH3427 7in David’sH1732 place on his throneH3678, ridingH7392 in chariotsH7393 and on horsesH5483, even the king himselfH1931 and his servantsH5650 and his peopleH5971. 58But ifH518 you will not obeyH8085 theseH428 wordsH1697, I 9swearH7650 by Myself,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068, “that thisH2088 houseH1004 will becomeH1961 a desolationH2723.”’” 6For thusH3541 saysH559 the LordH3068 concerningH5921 the houseH1004 of the kingH4428 of JudahH3063: “You are like 10GileadH1568 to Me, Like the summitH7218 of LebanonH3844; Yet mostH518H3808 assuredlyH518H3808 I will makeH7896 you like a 11wildernessH4057, Like citiesH5892 which are not inhabitedH3427.7For I will setH6942 apartH6942 12destroyersH7843 againstH5921 you, EachH376 with his weaponsH3627; And they will 13cutH3772 downH3772 your choicestH4005 cedarsH730 And 14throwH5307 them on the fireH784.
8“ManyH7227 nationsH1471 will passH5674 by thisH2088 cityH5892; and they will 15sayH559 to oneH376 anotherH7453, ‘WhyH5921H4100 has the LordH3068 doneH6213 thusH3602 to thisH2088 greatH1419 cityH5892?’ 9Then they will 16answerH559, ‘BecauseH5921H834 they 17forsookH5800 the covenantH1285 of the LordH3068 their GodH430 and bowedH7812 downH7812 to otherH312 godsH430 and servedH5647 them.’”
