1 Timothy 5:8-16

8But ifG1487 anyoneG5100 does not provideG4306 for his ownG2398, and especiallyG3122 for those of his householdG3609, he has 1deniedG720 the faithG4102 and is worseG5501 than an unbelieverG571.

9A widowG5503 is to be 2putG2639 on the listG2639 only if she is not lessG1640 than sixtyG1835 yearsG2094 old, having been 3the wifeG1135 of oneG1520 manG435, 10havingG3140 a reputationG3140 for 4goodG2570 worksG2041; and ifG1487 she has broughtG5044 up childrenG5044, ifG1487 she has 5shownG3580 hospitalityG3580 to strangersG3580, ifG1487 she 6has washedG3538 the 7saints’G40 feetG4228, ifG1487 she has 8assistedG1884 those in distressG2346, and ifG1487 she has devotedG1872 herselfG1872 to everyG3956 goodG18 workG2041. 11But refuseG3868 to put youngerG3501 widowsG5503 on the list, for whenG3752 they feelG2691 9sensualG2691 desiresG2691 in disregardG2691 of ChristG5547, they wantG2309 to getG1060 marriedG1060, 12thus incurringG2192 condemnationG2917, becauseG3754 they have setG114 asideG114 their previousG4413 10pledgeG4102. 13At the sameG260 timeG260 they alsoG2532 learnG3129 to be idleG692, as they goG4022 aroundG4022 from houseG3614 to houseG3614; and not merelyG3441 idleG692, but alsoG2532 11gossipsG5397 and 12busybodiesG4021, talkingG2980 about 13thingsG1189 not properG1189 to mention. 14ThereforeG3767, I wantG1014 youngerG3501 widows to getG1060 14marriedG1060, bearG5041 childrenG5041, 15keepG3616 houseG3616, and 16giveG1325 the enemyG480 noG3367 occasionG874 for reproachG3059; 15for someG5100 17have alreadyG2235 turnedG1624 asideG1624 to followG3694 18SatanG4567. 16IfG1487 anyG5100 womanG5100 who is a believerG4103 19hasG2192 dependent widowsG5503, she must 20assistG1884 them and the churchG1577 must not be burdenedG916, soG2443 that it may assistG1884 thoseG3588 who are 21widowsG5503 indeedG3689.
