Revelation 8

The Seventh Seal--the Trumpets

1When the Lamb broke the 1seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. 2And I saw 2the seven angels who stand before God, and seven 3trumpets were given to them.

34Another angel came and stood at the 5altar, holding a 6golden censer; and much 7incense was given to him, so that he might 8add it to the 9prayers of all the 10saints on the 11golden altar which was before the throne. 4And 12the smoke of the incense, 13with the prayers of the 14saints, went up before God out of the angel’s hand. 5Then the angel 15took the censer and 16filled it with the fire of the altar, and 17threw it to the earth; and there followed 18peals of thunder and sounds and flashes of lightning and an 19earthquake.

620And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared themselves to sound them.

7The first sounded, and there came 21hail and fire, mixed with blood, and they were thrown to the earth; and 22a third of the earth was burned up, and 23a third of the 24trees were burned up, and all the green 25grass was burned up.

8The second angel sounded, and something like a great 26mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea; and 27a third of the 28sea became blood, 9and 29a third of the creatures which were in the sea 30and had life, died; and a third of the 31ships were destroyed.

10The third angel sounded, and a great star 32fell from heaven, burning like a torch, and it fell on a 33third of the rivers and on the 34springs of waters. 11The name of the star is called Wormwood; and a 35third of the waters became 36wormwood, and many men died from the waters, because they were made bitter.

12The fourth angel sounded, and a 37third of the 38sun and a third of the 39moon and a 40third of the 41stars were struck, so that a 42third of them would be darkened and the day would not shine for a 43third of it, and the night in the same way.

13Then I looked, and I heard 44an eagle flying in 45midheaven, saying with a loud voice, “46Woe, woe, woe to 47those who dwell on the earth, because of the remaining blasts of the trumpet of the 48three angels who are about to sound!”
