5and you have forgottenἐκλέλησθεeklelēstheG1585the exhortationπαρακλήσεωςparaklēseōsG3874whichἥτιςhētisG3748is addressedδιαλέγεται·dialegetaiG1256to you as sonsυἱοῖςhuioisG5207, “My sonυἱέhuieG5207,do not regardG3643lightlyG3643the disciplineπαιδείαςpaideiasG3809of the Lordκυρίου,kuriouG2962,NorμηδὲmēdeG3366faintἐκλύουekluouG1590when you are reprovedἐλεγχόμενος.elegchomenosG1651by Him;

6For thosewhomὃνhonG3739the Lordκύριος,kuriosG2962lovesἀγαπᾷagapaG25He disciplinesπαιδεύει,paideueiG3811,And He scourgesμαστιγοῖmastigoiG3146everyπάνταpantaG3956sonυἱὸνhuionG5207whomὃνhonG3739He receivesπαραδέχεται.paradechetaiG3858.”

7It is for disciplineπαιδείανpaideianG3809that you endureὑπομένετε,hupomeneteG5278;Godθεός·theosG2316dealsπροσφέρεταιprospheretaiG4374with you as with sonsυἱοῖςhuioisG5207;for whatτίςtisG5101sonυἱὸςhuiosG5207is there whomὃνhonG3739hisfatherπατήρ;patērG3962does not disciplineπαιδεύειpaideueiG3811?

8But ifεἰeiG1487you are withoutχωρίςchōrisG5565disciplineπαιδείαςpaideiasG3809,of whichἧςhēsG3739allπάντες,pantesG3956have becomeγεγόνασινgegonasinG1096partakersμέτοχοιmetochoiG3353,thenἄραaraG686you are illegitimateG3541childrenG3541and not sonsυἱοίhuioiG5207.

9FurthermoreεἶταeitaG1534,we hadεἴχομενeichomenG2192earthlyσαρκὸςsarkosG4561fathersπατέραςpaterasG3962to disciplineπαιδευτὰςpaideutasG3810us, and werespectedἐνετρεπόμεθα·enetrepomethaG1788them; shall we not muchπολὺpoluG4183ratherμᾶλλονmallonG3123be subjectὑποταγησόμεθαhupotagēsomethaG5293tothe FatherπατρὶpatriG3962ofspiritsπνευμάτωνpneumatōnG4151, andliveζήσομεν;zēsomenG2198?

10For they disciplinedἐπαίδευον,epaideuonG3811us for a shortὀλίγαςoligasG3641timeἡμέραςhēmerasG2250as seemedG1380bestδοκοῦνdokounG1380to them, but He disciplines us for ourgoodσυμφέρονsumpheronG4851,soεἰςeisG1519that we may shareμεταλαβεῖνmetalabeinG3335His holinessἁγιότητοςhagiotētosG41.
