3Soon Saul cameוַ֠יָּבֹאVai.ya.vo'H935toאֶל־'el-H413the sheepfoldsגִּדְר֨וֹת הַצֹּ֤אןgid.Rot ha.TzonH6629 H1448alongH5921the roadהַדֶּ֙רֶךְ֙ha.De.rekhH1870,where there wasוְשָׁ֣םve.ShamH8033a caveמְעָרָ֔הme.'a.RahH4631,and heH7586went inוַיָּבֹ֥אvai.ya.Vo'H935to relieveלְהָסֵ֣ךְle.ha.SekhH5526H853himselfרַגְלָ֑יוrag.LavH7272.And DavidH1732and his menH582were hidingיֹשְׁבִֽים׃yo.she.VimH3427in the recessesבְּיַרְכְּתֵ֥יbe.yar.ke.TeiH3411of the caveהַמְּעָרָ֖הha.me.'a.RahH4631.

4So David’sH1732menH376saidוַיֹּאמְרוּ֩vai.yo.me.RuH559to himH413, “This isהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009the dayהַיּ֜וֹםhai.YomH3117about whichאֲֽשֶׁר־'asher-H834the LORDיְהוָ֣הYah.wehH3068saidאָמַ֧ר'a.MarH559to youH413, ‘Beholdהִנֵּ֨הhi.NehH2009,Iאָנֹכִ֜י'a.no.KhiH595will deliverנֹתֵ֤ןno.TenH5414your enemyאֹֽיִבְךָ֙'o.ye.vei.khaH341H853into your handבְּיָדֶ֔ךָbe.ya.De.khaH3027,that you may doוְעָשִׂ֣יתָve.'a.Si.taH6213with himasכַּאֲשֶׁ֖רka.'a.SherH834you wishיִטַ֣ב בְּעֵינֶ֑יךָyi.Tav be.'ei.Nei.khaH3190 H5869.’”Then DavidH1732crept upוַיָּ֣קָםvai.Ya.komH6965and stealthilyבַּלָּֽט׃ba.LatH3909cut offוַיִּכְרֹ֛תvai.yikh.RotH3772H853a cornerכְּנַֽף־ke.naf-H3671of Saul’sH7586robeהַמְּעִ֥ילha.me.'IlH4598אֲשֶׁר־'a.Sher-H834.

5וַֽיְהִי֙vay.HiH1961Afterwardאַֽחֲרֵי־ כֵ֔ן'a.cha.rei- KhenH310 H3651,David’sH1732H853conscienceלֵב־lev-H3820was strickenוַיַּ֥ךְvai.YakhH5221becauseעַ֚ל'alH5921H834he had cut offH3772H853the cornerH3671H834of Saul’s robeH7586.

6So he saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to his menלַאֲנָשָׁ֜יוla.'a.na.ShavH582, “The LORDמֵֽיהוָ֗הme.Yah.wehH3068forbidחָלִ֧ילָהcha.Li.lahH2486thatאִם־'im-H518Ishould doאֶעֱשֶׂה֩'e.'e.SehH6213H853suchהַזֶּ֤הha.ZehH2088a thingהַדָּבָ֨רha.da.VarH1697to my masterלַֽאדֹנִי֙la.do.NiH113,the LORD’sיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068anointedלִמְשִׁ֣יחַlim.Shi.achH4899.May I never liftלִשְׁלֹ֥חַlish.Lo.achH7971my handיָדִ֖יya.DiH3027against him,sinceכִּֽי־ki-H3588heהֽוּא׃Hu'H1931is the LORD’sיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068anointedמְשִׁ֥יחַme.Shi.achH4899.”

8Afterאַחֲרֵי־'a.cha.rei-H310thatכֵ֗ןKhenH3651,DavidH1732got upH6965,went outוַיֵּצֵא֙vai.ye.Tze'H3318ofH4480the caveH4631,and called outוַיִּקְרָ֧אvai.yik.Ra'H7121toאַֽחֲרֵי־'a.cha.rei-H310Saulלֵאמֹ֖רle.MorH7586 H559, “My lordאֲדֹנִ֣י'a.do.NiH113the kingהַמֶּ֑לֶךְha.Me.lekhH4428!”When SaulH7586lookedוַיַּבֵּ֤טvai.ya.BetH5027behind himאַֽחֲרָ֔יו'a.cha.RavH310,DavidH1732bowedוַיִּקֹּ֨דvai.yi.KodH6915facedownאַפַּ֛יִם אַ֖רְצָה'a.Pa.yim 'Ar.tzahH639 H776in reverenceוַיִּשְׁתָּֽחוּ׃ סvai.yish.Ta.chuH7812

9andH1732saidH559to SaulH7586, “Whyלָ֧מָּהLa.mahH4100do you listenתִשְׁמַ֛עtish.Ma'H8085אֶת־'et-H853to the wordsדִּבְרֵ֥יdiv.ReiH1697of menאָדָ֖ם'a.DamH120who sayH559, ‘Lookהִנֵּ֣הhi.NehH2009,DavidH1732intendsמְבַקֵּ֖שׁme.va.KeshH1245to harm youרָעָתֶֽךָ׃ra.'a.Te.khaH7451’?
