23Forכִּ֤יkiH3588rebellionמֶ֔רִיMe.riH4805is like the sinחַטַּאת־cha.tat-H2403of divinationקֶ֙סֶם֙ke.semH7081,and arroganceהַפְצַ֑רhaf.TzarH6484is like the wickednessוְאָ֥וֶןve.'A.venH205of idolatryוּתְרָפִ֖יםu.te.ra.FimH8655.Becauseיַ֗עַןYa.'anH3282you have rejectedמָאַ֙סְתָּ֙ma.'As.taH3988אֶת־'et-H853the wordדְּבַ֣רde.VarH1697of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,He has rejected youוַיִּמְאָסְךָ֖vai.yim.'a.se.KhaH3988as kingמִמֶּֽלֶךְ׃ סmi.Me.lekhH4428.”

24Then Saulשָׁא֤וּלsha.'UlH7586saidוַיֹּ֨אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559toאֶל־'el-H413Samuelשְׁמוּאֵל֙she.mu.'ElH8050, “I have sinnedחָטָ֔אתִיcha.Ta.tiH2398כִּֽי־ki-H3588;I have transgressedעָבַ֥רְתִּי'a.Var.tiH5674אֶת־'et-H853the LORD’sיְהוָ֖הYah.wehH3068וְאֶת־ve.'EtH853commandmentפִּֽי־pi-H6310and your instructionsדְּבָרֶ֑יךָde.va.Rei.khaH1697,becauseכִּ֤יkiH3588I fearedיָרֵ֙אתִי֙ya.Re.tiH3372אֶת־'et-H853the peopleהָעָ֔םha.'AmH5971and obeyedוָאֶשְׁמַ֖עva.'esh.Ma'H8085their voiceבְּקוֹלָֽם׃be.ko.LamH6963.

25Now thereforeוְעַתָּ֕הve.'a.TahH6258,pleaseנָ֖אna'H4994אֶת־'et-H853forgiveשָׂ֥אsa'H5375my sinחַטָּאתִ֑יcha.ta.TiH2403and returnוְשׁ֣וּבve.ShuvH7725with meעִמִּ֔י'i.MiH5973so I can worshipוְאֶֽשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֖הve.'esh.ta.cha.VehH7812the LORDלַֽיהוָֽה׃la.Yah.wehH3068.”

26“I will notלֹ֥אlo'H3808returnאָשׁ֖וּב'a.ShuvH7725with youעִמָּ֑ךְ'i.MakhH5973,”Samuelשְׁמוּאֵל֙she.mu.'ElH8050repliedוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559אֶל־'el-H413שָׁא֔וּלsha.'UlH7586. “Forכִּ֤יkiH3588you have rejectedמָאַ֙סְתָּה֙ma.'As.tahH3988אֶת־'et-H853the wordדְּבַ֣רde.VarH1697of the LORDיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068,andיְהוָ֔הYah.wehH3068Hehas rejected youוַיִּמְאָסְךָ֣vai.yim.'a.se.KhaH3988asמִהְי֥וֹתmih.YotH1961kingמֶ֖לֶךְMe.lekhH4428overעַל־'al-H5921Israelיִשְׂרָאֵֽל׃ סYis.ra.'ElH3478.”

27As Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֖לshe.mu.'ElH8050turnedוַיִּסֹּ֥בvai.yi.SoH5437to goלָלֶ֑כֶתla.Le.khetH1980,Saul grabbedוַיַּחֲזֵ֥קvai.ya.cha.ZekH2388the hemבִּכְנַף־bikh.naf-H3671of his robeמְעִיל֖וֹme.'i.LoH4598,and it toreוַיִּקָּרַֽע׃vai.yi.ka.Ra'H7167.

28So Samuelשְׁמוּאֵ֔לshe.mu.'ElH8050saidוַיֹּ֤אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559to himאֵלָיו֙'e.LavH413, “The LORDיְהוָ֜הYah.wehH3068אֶֽת־'et-H853has tornקָרַ֨עka.Ra'H7167the kingdomמַמְלְכ֧וּתmam.le.KhutH4468of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֛לYis.ra.'ElH3478from youמֵעָלֶ֖יךָme.'a.Lei.khaH5921todayהַיּ֑וֹםhai.YomH3117and has givenוּנְתָנָ֕הּu.ne.ta.NahH5414it to your neighborלְרֵעֲךָ֖le.re.'a.KhaH7453who isbetterהַטּ֥וֹבha.TovH2896than youמִמֶּֽךָּ׃mi.Me.kaH4480.

29Moreoverוְגַם֙ve.GamH1571,the Gloryנֵ֣צַחNe.tzachH5331of Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֔לYis.ra.'ElH3478does notלֹ֥אlo'H3808lieיְשַׁקֵּ֖רye.sha.KerH8266or change His mindיִנָּחֵ֑םyi.na.ChemH5162,forוְלֹ֣א כִּ֣יve.Lo' kiH3588 H3808Heה֖וּאhu'H1931is notלֹ֥אlo'H3808a manאָדָ֛ם'a.DamH120,that He should change His mindלְהִנָּחֵֽם׃le.hi.na.ChemH5162.”

30“I have sinnedחָטָ֔אתִיcha.Ta.tiH2398,”Saul repliedוַיֹּ֣אמֶרvai.Yo.merH559. “Pleaseנָ֛אna'H4994honor meכַּבְּדֵ֥נִיka.be.De.niH3513nowעַתָּ֗ה'a.TahH6258beforeנֶ֥גֶדNe.gedH5048the eldersזִקְנֵֽי־zik.nei-H2205of my peopleעַמִּ֖י'a.MiH5971and beforeוְנֶ֣גֶדve.Ne.gedH5048Israelיִשְׂרָאֵ֑לYis.ra.'ElH3478.Come backוְשׁ֣וּבve.ShuvH7725with meעִמִּ֔י'i.MiH5973,so that I may worshipוְהִֽשְׁתַּחֲוֵ֖יתִיve.hish.ta.cha.Vei.tiH7812the LORDלַֽיהוָ֥הla.Yah.wehH3068your Godאֱלֹהֶֽיךָ׃'e.lo.Hei.khaH430.”
