Judges 2:7-17
7And the peopleH5971 servedH5647 Jehovah all the daysH3117 of JoshuaH3091, and all the daysH3117 of the eldersH2205 that outlived JoshuaH3091, who had seenH7200 all the greatH1419 workH4639 of Jehovah that he had wrought for IsraelH3478. 8And JoshuaH3091 the sonH1121 of NunH5126, the servantH5650 of Jehovah, diedH4191, being a hundredH3967 and tenH6235 yearsH8141 old. 9And they buriedH6912 him in the borderH1366 of his inheritanceH5159 in Timnath-heres, in the hill-country of EphraimH669, on the northH6828 of the mountainH2022 of GaashH1608. 10And alsoH1571 all that generationH1755 were gatheredH622 unto their fathersH1: and there aroseH6965 another generationH1755 after them, that knewH3045 not Jehovah, nor yet the workH4639 which he had wrought for IsraelH3478.
11And the children of IsraelH3478 did that which was evilH7451 in the sight of Jehovah, and servedH5647 the Baalim; 12and they forsook Jehovah, the GodH430 of their fathersH1, who broughtH3318 them out of the landH776 of EgyptH4714, and followed otherH312 godsH430, of the godsH430 of the peoplesH5971 that were roundH5439 about them, and bowedH7812 themselves downH7812 unto them: and they provokedH3707 Jehovah to angerH3707. 13And they forsook Jehovah, and servedH5647 BaalH1168 and the AshtarothH6252. 14And the angerH639 of Jehovah was kindled against IsraelH3478, and he delivered them into the handsH3027 of spoilers that despoiled them; and he soldH4376 them into the handsH3027 of their enemiesH341 roundH5439 about, so that they could not any longer standH5975 before their enemiesH341. 15Whithersoever they wentH3318 out, the handH3027 of Jehovah wasH1961 against them for evilH7451, as Jehovah had spokenH1696, and as Jehovah had swornH7650 unto them: and they were sore distressed.
16And Jehovah raisedH6965 up judgesH8199, who savedH3467 them out of the handH3027 of those that despoiled them. 17And yet they hearkened not unto their judgesH8199; for they playedH2181 the harlot after otherH312 godsH430, and bowedH7812 themselves downH7812 unto them: they turnedH5493 asideH5493 quicklyH4118 out of the wayH1870 wherein their fathersH1 walkedH1980, obeying the commandmentsH4687 of Jehovah; but they did not soH3651.
