Jeremiah 8:5-22
5WhyH4069 has thisH2088 peopleH5971, JerusalemH3389, 1TurnedH7725 awayH7725 in continualH5329 apostasyH4878? They 2holdH2388 onH2388 to deceitH8649, They 3refuseH3985 to returnH7725.6I 4have listenedH7181 and heardH8085, They have spokenH1696 whatH3653 isH3653 not rightH3653; 5NoH369 oneH376 repentedH5162 of his wickednessH7463, SayingH559, ‘WhatH4100 have I doneH6213?’ EveryoneH3605 turnedH7725 to his own courseH4794, Like a 6horseH5483 chargingH7857 into the battleH4421.7EvenH1571 the storkH2624 in the skyH8064 7KnowsH3045 her seasonsH4150; And the 8turtledoveH8449, the swallowH5483, and the craneH5693 KeepH8104 toH8104 the timeH6256 of their 9migrationH935; But 10My peopleH5971 do not knowH3045 The judgmentH4941 of the LordH3068.
8“11HowH351 can you sayH559, ‘We are wiseH2450, And the LawH8451 of the LordH3068 is with us’? But beholdH2009, the lyingH8267 penH5842 of the scribesH5613 Has madeH6213 it into a lieH8267.9The wiseH2450 menH2450 are 12putH954 toH954 shameH954, They are dismayedH2865 and caughtH3920; BeholdH2009, they have 13rejectedH3988 the wordH1697 of the LordH3068, So whatH4100 kind of wisdomH2451 do they have?10ThereforeH3651 I will 14giveH5414 their wivesH802 to othersH312, Their fieldsH7704 to new ownersH3423; BecauseH3588 from the leastH6996 even to the greatestH1419 EveryoneH3605 is 15greedyH1214 for gainH1215; From the prophetH5030 even to the priestH3548, EveryoneH3605 practicesH6213 deceitH8267.11They have 16healedH7495 the brokennessH7667 of the daughterH1323 of My peopleH5971 superficiallyH5921H7043, SayingH559, ‘PeaceH7965, peaceH7965,’ But thereH369 isH369 noH369 peaceH7965.12WereH954 they 17ashamedH954 becauseH3588 of the abominationH8441 they had doneH6213? They wereH954 not ashamedH954 atH1571 allH954H1571, And they did not knowH3045 how to be ashamedH3637; ThereforeH3651 they will 18fallH5307 among those who fallH5307; At the 19timeH6256 of their punishmentH6486 they will collapseH3782,” SaysH559 the LordH3068.
13“I will 20certainlyH5486 snatchH5486 them awayH5486,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068. “ThereH369 willH369 beH369 21noH369 grapesH6025 on the vineH1612 And 22noH369 figsH8384 on the figH8384 treeH8384, And the leafH5929 will witherH5034; And what I have givenH5414 them will passH5674 awayH5674.”’”14WhyH5921H4100 are we sittingH3427 still? 23AssembleH622 yourselves, and let’s 24goH935 into the fortifiedH4013 citiesH5892 And perishH1826 thereH8033, For the LordH3068 our GodH430 has doomedH1826 us And givenH8248 us 25poisonedH7219 waterH4325 toH8248 drinkH8248, BecauseH3588 26we have sinnedH2398 against the LordH3068.15We 27waitedH6960 for peaceH7965, but noH369 goodH2896 came; For a timeH6256 of healingH4832, but beholdH2009, terrorH1205!16From 28DanH1835 there is heardH8085 the snortingH5170 of his horsesH5483; At the soundH6963 of the neighingH4684 of his 29stallionsH47 The wholeH3605 landH776 quakesH7493; For they comeH935 and 30devourH398 the landH776 and its fullnessH4393, The cityH5892 and its inhabitantsH3427.17“For beholdH2009, I am 31sendingH7971 serpentsH5175 among you, VipersH6848 for whichH834 thereH369 isH369 32noH369 charmH3908; And they will biteH5391 you,” declaresH5002 the LordH3068.
1833My 34sorrowH3015 is beyondH1097 healingH1455, My 35heartH3820 is faintH1742 withinH5921 me!19BeholdH2009, listenH6963! The cryH7775 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971 from a 36distantH4801 landH776: “Is the LordH3068 not in ZionH6726? Is her KingH4428 not within her?” “WhyH4069 have they 37provokedH3707 Me with their carvedH6456 imagesH6456, with foreignH5236 3839idolsH1892?”20“HarvestH7105 isH5674 pastH5674, summerH7019 isH3615 overH3615, And we are not savedH3467.”21I am brokenH7665 over the 40brokennessH7667 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971. I 41mournH6937, dismayH8047 has takenH2388 holdH2388 of me.22IsH369 thereH369 noH369 42balmH6875 in GileadH1568? IsH369 thereH369 noH369 physicianH7495 thereH8033? 43WhyH4069 thenH3588 has not the 44healthH724 of the daughterH1323 of my peopleH5971 45been restoredH5927?
